A few things that are bugging me.
The FCC crackdown on indecency.
Ok, so they want to save us from obscene or indecent talk, images, tv shows whatever right?
I don't want them to tell me what I can listen to, watch or see.
I am an adult and a parent. I do know how to make the best decisions for myself and my family.
But.
If they insist on removing indecent things from us, I have a few suggestions as to what they can take away next.

Menstrual cycle commercials.
Let me just say that I do not have a problem with my cycles and if you were to ask, I'd be happy to tell you that I am bloated, cranky as hell and if the kids touch my chocolate stash one more time, someone is going to lose a finger.
What I do have a problem with is Tampax having a woman shove a tampon in the hole of a boat to stop a leak and her boyfriend is just like ok with that.
It's just a bad image ok?
I don't want to see K-Y lube commercials on during prime time.
I know what it is and where to buy it should I need it but everytime I see that commercial I am reminded of the couple I saw in the supermarket that one time.
The dude is standing staring at the gel and his girlfriend is all like 'you want to try it, you're gonna buy it.'
Then the 2 of them trying to buy some other stuff to buy so that is not the only thing on the belt at the checkout.
We all know what you bought it for. Be adult about it.
I am simply not ready to explain the need or use for lube yet.
I also don't like having to explain to my 2 pre-pube sons why that woman just shoved a tampon in a hole in a boat.
And the reason?
Cuz no woman would ever shove a tampon in a hole in a boat to stop a leak!
That's just stupid.
I had to tell them that some smartass ad guy thought it would be clever.
Clever for what they asked.
Well, that smartass guy thought it would be a clever way to let women know that their tampon has superior leak protection.
But mom they said, you're not supposed to put them in a boat are you?
No sons, you're not.
They (FCC) think Janet flashing a boob is a problem.
No no. It is much easier to explain that that woman thought it would be shocking and kinda cool to flash her tit. She made a bad mistake.
The boys understood that.
What is hard to explain is why menstrual commercials use blue gel and then cut the pad in half so you can see it didn't leak.
Mom, why would they do that?
Uh, cuz some smartass ad guy thought that using blue gel and then cutting the pad in half would show women how much better their pad is.
But mom, all the pad commercials use blue gel and cut it in half.
Yeah, I know boys, doesn't make much sense to me either but they think it's a good idea.
And the tampon commercial where the girl ties inferior tampons together and then taped to a pad to get the one tampon that fell out the window onto the bush at the party?
Sorry, I have never known a woman that cared that much that she would risk looking like an ass and wasting the hosts products for 1 tampon.
That is a sure fire way to not get invited back.
But the FCC lets these images be shown on tv.
Valtrex commercials bother me because then I have to explain that someone has herpes and then I have to explain what is herpes.
Yeah, good times.
The viagra commercial where everyone is looking at the guy walking in to work asking if he got a haircut or a new suit or whatever and the voice over is telling us all how he used viagra and his sex life is better.
Great, good for him but the kids have started listening to the side effects of these drugs.
One warning, if you experience an erection for more than 4 hours, seek medical attention.
Try explaining that.
Funny to you and me but to little boys, not quite so funny when they think about having to see a doctor to make it 'go down'.
I just find it amusing and funny the stuff they think is indecent like talking about sex or questioning the government and a boobie, but they will allow these bizarre images and words to flood our airwaves all the time.
And the commercials just get worse and worse as each year passes.
In just a few short years, I fully expect to see a commercial where they show women how to insert a tampon or place a pad in their panties or use the lube.
Don't take away radio hosts or give me a 10 second delay on awards shows because you are afraid someone may say the word fuck or whatever if you are going to continue to allow these commercials to stay on the air.
And yes, it is the same thing.
What you find indecent is not what I find indecent and if you're going to lay the smackdown, lay it down on everything or just shut up.
You will never be able to please us all.
We all have different ideas of what is obscene, indecent or just plain ignorant.
Let us be the judges of our own lives.
