Did they forget this was already a movie?

TNT (which I don't have because I don't have cable) has made an 'original' miniseries about Stephen Kings, Salem's Lot.
Not once in the description of this made for tv movie on their site or on TVguide.coms

review of this miniseries, is it mentioned that a movie was already made about this book.
Salem's Lot starring David Soul, directed by Tobe Hooper, filmed in 1979, was in my opinion, a great scary movie.
The kid tapping at the window of his best friends house after being turned into a vampire, was downright scary.
The big, huge, bluish vampire that shows up in that kitchen, scared the beejezus out of me when I first saw this movie.
It still does.
This was originally shown as a miniseries on tv back then and did a damn fine job of condensing that 400 page book down.
I don't care that they got Rob Lowe to play Ben Mears. Big whoopdie doo.
When are tv stations and movie makers going to start writing their own new material instead of having to remake movies that are good enough the way they were when originally made.
I have seen the original Chainsaw Massacre and the new one and they are both equally good but the first Chainsaw was in my opinion, more menacing, more creepy, more frightening.
I'm glad I don't have cable.
This way I can remember movies the way they were before someone decides to ruin them in all their campy and menacing goodness.
