Calm down peeps.
Everyone is freaking out over the new pricing structure of MT3.
You do not have to upgrade to the new version. No one can make you switch your version. It's only if you want to.
People are jumping ship and dumping their MT installs and switching over to WP.
Now don't get me wrong, WP worked well when it worked for me but when it broke, I could not fix it.
I did not know, still do not know, the language of php.
It's not for newbies.
The point is, you do not have to upgrade to MT3 nor do you have to switch to a whole new system if you don't want to.
I downloaded another copy of 2.661 just in case something happens to this install.
I can't afford the new shit at all. I honestly, don't know many bloggers who can but no one said you have to move to a new blogging software today. And for those of you who want a spell checker, here ya go. ieSpell - Download.
It's for IE, just right click, spell check, happy days.
Later.

That's too funny, really. I think people just HAVE to have the newest and best, and if they can't have it they have a fit and go somewhere else. I'll use a new blogging tool, sure, but not because of the new MT stuff. I'll do it because it's a better blogging engine, you know?

Exactly but seeing as how you just installed your MT, you do not have to upgrade until you want to. People are so funny today. I actually saw people dump their whole blogs and install WP and now they are having trouble. It's like, wait, think, then react. Do not react then try to fix it all.

hehehe - I had problems with MT a long time ago and lost all of my posts n stuff so I switched to b2evolution I haven't had any trouble with it and really like it *knocks on wood*

I hear b2 evolution is pretty good but I'm not switching. I grabbed another mt and will keep it as long as possible. All the blog troubles I have had over the last year, I am not fucking changing systems again unless I absolutley have to.

Hey Kat:O) Its me Leslie, ShyQuiet Girl (now SoapAddict) Anyway I hear what you are saying about the new MT, I was like ehhh I am just gonna stick with this version of MT, haven't had any problems yet, why get rid of a good thing??

Hey!! Long time no see!! Good to know where you are again. :)

Hey Kat -- and this goes for Karri, too -- I will continue to maintain MT 2.661, so if anything happens, I'll fix your installs if I can. ;)

Thanks Jenni. And I have a copy of it in case anyones breaks so people can just email me for copies after they take the download off of the MT site.
Posted by: Kat | May 16, 2004 5:54 PM
Downloading a copy of 2.661 isn't a bad idea at all. It's good to have a copy on hand in case minor shit happens -- like some little file corrupts -- and it's easier to find the copy on your own hard drive than on Six Apart's site if they relocate everything.
Also, I might upgrade to the free 3.0 version, but I don't know dick about it yet. I may just stay with 2.661. Me loves it.

Well if you want to know about it, Les at Stupid evil bastard was a beta tester and has written a ton of posts about it, this whole pricing thing, drupal, etc etc etc. He's tested quiet a few different things.
