Has anyone else noticed?

Ever since Tucows took over blogrolling, they have been down.
A lot.
Like everyday there is at least an hour of blackout time and this causes almost every single blog running their blogroll as part of their sites to load very very very slowly.
Like a death crawl.
A bigger company taking something over isn't always a good thing.

And the whole MT fiasco announced this morning.
Ugh.
I went and grabbed another 2.661 version just for myself.
I read a lot of sites this morning and the majority, actually every site I read, said that they would not be paying what six apart is asking. Tons of migrations over to the cheaper pmachine.
I'll just hang onto my little ol MT install until it breaks or whatever.
I am not changing back to word press ever. Hell would have to freeze over before I went back to that.
And just look at those trackbacks.
Six Apart shot themselves in the foot, the leg, the hand and pretty soon, their heads.

Well good thing I didn't do the switch to MT yet then if they're gonna start charging for it!
And yep...noticed that too with blog rolling today! Thought it was just me! Mine isn't even showing up and yep, slow loading pages because of it! BLAH!

Kelly, you can still get MT 2.661 and use it until your install breaks or whatever. I downloaded another mt 2.661 just in case mine breaks. I want to have a backup. They won't be forcing anyone to migrate to the new version. I prefer MT over blogger and definitley over word press which I found absolutley horrible for beginners learning php. It was a fucking nightmare and a language I could not grasp at all.

I couldn't believe the prices either, it's like they forgot a step in there somewhere. It's crazy.

Designers like Joelle at tenth-muse.com are a little bit pissed and considering moving. They install and design blogs using MT. I'd be pissed too if all of a sudden, I had to start charging way more just to install a system, nevermind the graphics and design part.

Hey...if it's on your machine, there ain't jack shit that Six Apart can do about it! Having a fresh copy is a good idea...I have one someplace on this computer just in case I ever want to switch back.

I've been noticing that about Blogrolling, too. WHY do big comapnies take something over, and then turn it into shit? It's just like that Google/Blogger thing we were talking about the other day.

Lots of people are getting 2.6 and just hanging onto it. They can't do anything if we already have it. And as far as the big companies, yeah, that always happens.

Check out Textpattern.

Thanks Joe but what is it running on? PHP? Will people have to learn php or something else to install and debug this kind of thing?
