I just checked my electric bill for this month seeing as how my money sucker got struck by lightning and the landman had to buy a new one at the beginning of the month, and last months bill was $185.00.
This months bill with new AC, $125 and I even left it on a few nights because it was super hot.
Last years July 21st bill, $229.13.
That's a savings over last year of $105.00.

That's awesome! Must be more energy efficient since it's a newer one! I know the same thing happened when we rented..our AC went out and after we got a new unit the bills were alot lower!

That's great news, Kat! The air conditioner in our bedroom died a couple of days ago, it was really old, and we just got a new one. It will be interesting to see how our bills go down with this new, energy-efficient model.

I am amazed that at my new house, with a 10 y.o. a/c unit, my electric bill is around the same as it was at my apartment, which was a little more than half the size of this place. But the apartment had such shoddy insulation and, given how often I had problems with the a/c (only three or four times every summer we were there!), I'm assuming that system must have been a bottom of the line 1980 system that was never properly taken care of.
I am convinced that it sometimes really pays to replace older appliances with newer, more energy efficient ones.
At any rate, I am glad you guys don't have to either swelter or suffer with a huge bill anymore!

Hi ya, Kat. Woo Hoo about your lower bill. Our ac came with the house and is still going strong (knock on wood). The only thing is, it's not very energy efficient, but even so our electric bill is only about $70/month.
