You can make donations to the victims of Hurricane Charley right here at ABC 7. The Salvation Army says the donations needed include duct tape, work gloves, plastic silverware, paper products, extra duty garbage bags, tarps, feminine hygiene products, water, diapers, canned goods, bread. They also need 4 giant freezers to deliver ice. The Salvation Army also needs volunteers. You can call 941-954-4673 for more information. We will be taking donations here at the station until 8 pm tonight. To make a monetary donation, send a check payable to Salvation Army to P.O. Box 270848, Tampa, FL 33688, or go to the Web site www.salvationarmy.org and click on "donate now." Specify Hurricane Charley on checks mailed or in the comments section of websites. Make sure it gets to the people who need it and not the national pools if you donate to the Red Cross.
Harvest United Methodist Church will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday through Sunday to accept supplies for people affected by Hurricane Charley. Needed are canned meats, water, juice, soft drinks, peanut butter, baby food, diapers, baby wipes, rice and canned black beans.
The Democratic Club of Venice, 212 U.S. 41 Bypass S., Venice, is collecting nonperishable food and paper goods for distribution. For more information, call 492-5965.
The Ed Chiles restaurant group is collecting bottled water, canned food and checks written to the American Red Cross for victims of Hurricane Charley. No clothing can be accepted. For more information, call 779-2222.

PAL Sailor Circus is accepting donations of children's clothing, diapers, formula, personal items, mosquito repellent and nonperishable food from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at 2075 Bahia Vista St. For more information, call 316-8108.
Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice is accepting donations by credit card on its Web site: www.gulfcoastcf.org .The donations are 100 percent tax deductible, and all will go to relief. For more information, call Erica Bacacio at 486-4608.
Publix is accepting monetary donations for hurricane victims. Customers can specify any amount, which will be added to the amount of their purchase. The money will go to the United Way.
The Manatee County Wal-Mart at 2911 53rd Ave. E., in Bradenton is collecting relief items. Wanted are water, nonperishable food, batteries, flashlights, first aid kits, toiletries, diapers and coolers. No clothing is being accepted at this time.
The Olde Englewood Village Association is collecting nonperishable food for Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda residents. Drop it off at the Grass Roots Gallery, 411 W. Dearborn St., Englewood. For more information, call 473-8782.
Operation Feed and Clothe, with Semi Trucks of Gold Coast Eagle, is accepting water, canned food, bedding, towels, light clothing, charcoal, diapers and other items. Drop them off at 4858 S. Tamiami Trail in The Landings Shopping Center till Tuesday at 6 p.m.
