Volunteers.
Saturday, my sister, myself and ex-roommate and the 2 boys are going to go to the store and buy tons of food and take it out to Arcadia.
Arcadia is one of the hardest hit areas but because they only have a population of 7,000, the work crews aren't heading out there as fast as the big cities.
We will be taking diapers, pre-mixed formula, personal hygiene products, and canned goods and water.
We decided that we couldn't just sit here with all of our stuff, safe and sound knowing that it was meant for us and it hit them.
Please consider volunteering if you live in the area. They need help cleaning up, making sandwiches, handing out water, talking to people.
Call 941-954-4673 to find out more about volunteering and help out.

I can't do much from here, but if you're giving out hugs as well, throw in one from me :-)
It's great that you're doing this :-)
Oh, & babe, be careful with your back when hauling all that stuff, eh?
I know I probably don't need to remind you, but this might be one of these moments when you get caught up in 'doing what you are doing', and then end up with pain the next day. So be careful! :-)
And yes, I KNOW I sound like your mom telling you to wear a vest when it's cold, and to look out when crossing the street ;-p
*hugs*

I won't be lifting anything. I am going to hand out stuff like sandwiches and rock babies etc. They need people to read to kids and hold babies so the moms can get a break. Stuff like that. My sister and Heidi can do work.:)

Hey Kat,
I am further south around palm beach & I can't believe how much damage Charley caused up there.. we barely had any rain down here let alone wind. There was a black cloud hovered over us all day, it was pretty eerie. Hope all is well.

Things are good here. Just trying to do what we can to get people to help. It has been an overwhelming response. People are really doing whatever they can but until power and water are restored, it's really tough going down there.

Great idea! Hope a lot others are doing the same for them and some of the other smaller places!

People have been doing great kelly. They have been sending truck after truck down there loaded with supplies. I just feel so bad because that was our storm. That bad ass was meant for us and here we are, with all this food and water and supplies and they don't even have maxi pads. I can't even imagine that.
