Help! My neighbor wants to poison peoples pets!
Help! 
My asshole 
neighbor wants to poison all the cats in the neighborhood with moth balls or some other chemical when it was clearly a possum digging on his side of the yard.
I brought my cat in even though she hates to be indoors and simply cries all the time to go back out. She never leaves the front yard or does any damage. She eats lizards and that's about all she does.
I am worried that he is really going to go through with this and I'm going to come out one morning and find dead cats in the yard and people blaming me for it.
What can I do?
I already warned one guy that's cat comes over to our side of the yard but how can I stop this lunatic from killing peoples pets. They all have collars and tags so he can't legally just kill peoples pets can he???
I'm so scared for all the little babies.

What?! Did he tell you this or has he already put some poison on his yard? There are natural ways to get cats from visiting your yard, I've read that somewhere. I can't remember what the stuff was you can put on your yard, but cats supposedly hate the smell and don't want to visit. Maybe that works with the possum too - but at least then he didn't have any cats visiting, if he doesn't like that. I hope someone can help you more. That's just crazy, threatening to kill all the neighbourhood cats. :(

He told me and my kids and my room mate this morning that he was going to kill all the cats! I don't know what to do. :(

Maybe a call to the local humane society would help? I've no idea, but in your shoes that's where I'd turn for some help, or advice, something. What a scarey guy!

The humane society can't help until an animal actually gets hurt and then they will file a report on the animals behalf with the police. I called this morning after he threatened it. My sister says to wait to call the cops until I see him lay a bowl of food out there and then have them come and get it.

No, call the cops and report the threat first. Then they'll have that on record if he does put anything out, or if a poor cat does get hurt, they'll know where to look first. But you want to prevent his hurting an animal, not take revenge after - call the police first and report the threat.

I throw moth balls around my yard because skunks and groundhogs dig stuff up and it helps keep the neighborhood cats from peeing in my yard. They dont eat them so unless he actually holds down a cat and force feeds it a moth ball I dont think he will get much satisfaction. The idiot! Grrrrr.

I have been doing some checking and it says moth balls won't hurt cats so I may get them myself to keep my cat and some of teh others off of his side. He's being such a prick though.

When I lived downtown years ago, a developer "spilled" antifreeze all over the place to get rid of the feral cats, which is bad enough, but he ended up killing my best friend's beloved cat of eleven years. Kat, people are capable of incredible cruelty, do what Bill said and call the police and report his threat. And continue to keep your cats inside until it is obvious to this degenerate that they are not the ones doing the damage. Encourage him to get some humane traps from the humane society(usually free) to catch the offenders. What an evil dumbass that guy is. Good luck. GOD people can be such assholes!

Cats don't like the smell of moth balls. People often put them in their flower beds to keep cats from peeing there. But, what Bill said... report the threat. I did that once when an insane guy threatened to kill my dog. The cops took it seriously and dropped in for a little chat... never heard from the ass again.

He was pissed cuz she eats the lizards. He says the lizards eat the ants. No they don't. They won't eat them until they are dead because fire ants have poison in them so they don't eat them. He said he was mad also because my kids don't talk to him cuz in his words, " what do they think I have? Germs?" No, they don't talk to him cuz he's a cranky sickly old man who complains all the time.
