Ok. Deep breath.
When I posted about the military operation, Phantom Fury, I was not making light of the war. I was making fun of the name.
There is a HUGE difference.
Do I know people are dying over there?
Yes.
Do I know how serious the situation is?
Hell fucking yes.
Do I care about what is happening over there?
You fucking betcha.
I have a cousin over there. A young father, my cousin that I used to babysit and hang with when we were much younger. Heck, he and I were Mary and Joseph one Christmas for a family pageant.
I know all too well the seriousness of the war in Iraq.
I was making light of the name. Phantom Fury. It sounds like something out of Star Wars or a Saturday morning cartoon superhero.
It's a silly name.
I am allowed to have a little smile about something am I not?
Just because the war is serious and people are bleeding and dying does not mean that this blog has to turn itself black and for me to post sad mournful or powerful political messages every waking moment.
Can you post something back to me disagreeing? Sure you can.
Will I email you about your comment? Most likely seeing as how I respond to every single comment that I get through email.
Will you be able to persuade me to feel bad about a joke or post that I made? No.
Will I let you get away with chastising me? No.
This is my blog and if you take offense to something I say, fine, feel free to post a comment. I will respond and I may or not agree with you. I may be curt, I may be sorry, I may tell you to jump in a lake.
If you still aren't satisfied with my responses and think I'm a bitch, you may be right but you as the owner of your computer have a choice. You never ever have to come back to this site again.
I can't stop you if you do, but why waste your time posting comments on a blog that you disagree with?
You're entitled to your opinion but as owner of this site, and as an American, I don't have to agree with you.

Comments
People never cease to amaze me. I never thought in your previous post that you were doing anything other than making fun of the ridiculous name they've given this latest offensive. People need to stop picking all the time and trying to read into things other people say.

Exactly. It doesn't seem to matter what topic I discuss, I always get a complainer.

Don't you just hate how you have to clarify everything you say on your blog, to people. I knew what you meant when you posted that entry. One would think other folks would know too. OIY!
Have a fabulous evening, Kat!

Why do some people seem to think that they have to convince the world of the validity of their opinion? I've been surprised I've not had more of a problem in that area.
Maybe I'm just too scary. ;)

I don't know why either but here's what he sent me after I deleted his nonsensical comment and asked him what he meant by it. This was his reply:
Kat,
My comment was directed at the tone of your take on the naming of the
current assault on the town of Fallujah. E.G.: "See, it's funny isn't it?
I just can't help but laugh. Will we be fighting with light sabers on this
operation cuz that would be cool."
I'm an old guy and a bit of a curmudgeon. I'm also very weary of what I
perceive to be a widespread "Daily Show"-esque cool, detached, ironic humor
when commenting--whether in the blogosphere or office conversations--upon
current events of a politcal nature....in this case, the real,
bodies-getting-blown to-pieces, buildings- being- shredded- by- artillery,
good guys vs. bad guys, war-is-hell operation by United States of America
soldiers sent to a rat's nest of evil to try and establish a toehold of
freedom in a very strategic (not just for this country, Kat, for the whole
world), despotic (thousands of unarmed civilians killed, tortured,
mutiliated, buried alive...etc etc by THEIR OWN leader...not an invading or
occupying army...THEIR OWN LEADER, Kat!!
The hope being that, like the liberation of France, The Netherlands, Norway,
Germany from the bondage of the despotic totalitarianism of Fascism so many
years ago, the liberation of the Iraqis, giving them a shot at self
determination, might provide a small patch peace and freedom to flourish in
an otherwise grim and barren land. Good grows best in the sulight of
freedom.
It's a life and death struggle over there Kat, and while I'm a big
proponent of keeping it light, life-wise, there are some matters that just
do not gracefully lend themselves to humor of a cynical nature.

It seems that I have to clarify something every week or so. I don't get it either. I think I make it sound clear.

Kat, you just can't win for losing, girl. Anyone who knows you would know better than to think you are making fun of the war itself. I don't get why people come here and just presume to understand what's going on in your head, whether they know you or not. I wasn't offended by it. Damn, people, grow the fuck up.

I pissed in someones cheerios that day I guess...lol

Exactly... we all have our own opinions and need to respect that. I don't mind comments but when someone is attacking another for their beliefs or opinions, that is crossing the lines. Some need to lighten up too, and try to see the context in which things were written. Or if they don't understand, ask... usually they jump to the wrong conclusion.
Have a great day today!! *HUGS*

Hi ya, Kat. I like it when you piss in someone's Cheerios. Yours is one of several blogs I visit who aren't timid about posting how they feel and what they think. I look foward to stopping in here all the time.
Keep on keepin' on, girl. You make the blogosphere a better place.

Thank you Colin. :)

And that's exactly what he did Karen. He jumped to a conclusion and then spanked me for not taking the war seriously when in fact, I take it very serious but was making fun of the name. Heck, my mom and dad and even said it sounded like a darth vader kind of thing...lol

Give 'em hell, Kat, and what Colin said. Right on.

Hey man, how are ya? I haven't been by your site in a few days. :)
