I rock.
Ok, this isn't my best savings ever but it's damn good.
I once saved $135 in store savings and coupons but coupons are not what they used to be. You can't double them at Publix and the Sunday newspaper here just doesn't do a whole lot of them and Publix doesn't take printed ones from the net due to fraud.
Advertised savings- $33.92
Advantage buy savings- $6.69
Coupons-$6.75
Total savings this morning-$47.36
That's awesome.
My kids hate it though cuz I spend 10 minutes in the cereal aisle looking for the absolute best buy but hey, money is money.
And! The store manager comes up to me while I was checking out and I had this new frozen food thing in my stuff and it had already been rung up and she took it out of the bag, voided it off my stuff and said "I am not letting you buy this. This is the most horrible stuff we have ever eaten."
I was like ok, thanks for saving me $5.
yay!
I can't even remember what it was. It was some family size frozen meal from Stouffers or something on sale so I figured what the hell, on my lazy or bad back day, frozen works for my family.
Other than my shopping trip this morning, I haven't done much else.
Started the laundry when I got back though so that counts toward getting stuff done right?
Later days.

It counts!
When my husband and I were first married, we practically LIVED on those family-size frozen dinners. We had no money for food, so my husband's uncle, who works at one one of the local news stations and gets lots of freebies, gave us about 30 coupons for FREE frozen dinners. (En-Cor?) They might not be the best tasting things but they were a life-saver for us at the time. We got 30 free dinners...you wouldn't believe how completely over-joyed we were!

Grocery coupons do suck these days. I seldom use them any more, because most of the ones I see in the Sunday papers are for overpriced, over-processed crap that we would not buy anyway.
I sometimes get some good cat food coupons, but that's about it. I prefer to look at the sale flyers and plan meals around whatever is on sale at the local Stop & Schlop this week. I save more money that way than with the coupons, and I see that you do, too.
My favorites are the *buy one get one free* sales at Stop & Schlop.
Those frozen On-Cor things aren't all that bad...even I have bought them when I was feeling sick or tired or just lazy. But they are mostly gravy and not a lot of meat...so I just throw some potatoes in the oven to cook with the frozen dinner, to have some starch to soak up that gravy. Boiling up some noodles works, too.
Have a good rest of the day!

I try and think of as many ways as possible to save money when I shop. Buy1 get 1, store specials etc etc...lol

Well, savings come not just from coupons but also from picking the right vendor. For instance, we stopped buying heating oil from a local dealer and switched to an online retailer and save a few hundred dollars a year. We switched from unlimited minutes on cell phone plan (which we never used really) to Virgin Mobile's pay as you go plan and while the cost per minute is high, we still save a ton. So if you are creative and do your research you can save a lot.
