Wanna go, don't wanna go.

Today is the last day they don't really have to go to school if they don't want to.
He graduates but he doesn't really want to go but at the same time he does. I just spent the last 30 minutes arguing with them about going. Say good bye to your friends, make sure you have all your stuff, I argued about stolen text books on your behalf. Yadda yadda.
Teens suck people.
So they are going.
Which means I have to go to watch him graduate and then bring him home.
Does it sound like we're all less than thrilled?
Well we are.
It's 8th grade graduation.
I am proud as hell of him but man, these things are boring and he has to wear his suit and again, it's just 8th grade.
I know people who make a huge deal out of this and yes he worked hard and all but he's not interested in going so why should I be forcing him to be happy about going ya know?
He goes, he sits in his suit, collects a piece of paper, we get to leave on the city bus and come home after only 2 hours of school. It takes me a half hour to get there...lol
So we're going but really, none of us are too excited about it.
Bad mommy eh?
I will be forcing happy at HS graduation because high school is where it all counts, where he's going to be busting his ass at law studies and such. He will want to go in HS but middle school is kind of silly in his opinion. And mine. Not school, but the ceremony. Am I making sense so early in the morning?

So we're all going, we'll be back.
Later days.

Comments

We never had a ceremony when we left Jr High so I don't get the hoopla. I'm sure he'll be glad he went though.

Wow, summer is here... Yikes! LOL!

Have a great day! *hugs*

Yup, it officially begins today at 11:15...lol It's gonna be a long one. I can already tell...lol

LOL... I graduated from a Middle School in 8th grade myself. That particular school did the "Awards" ceremony after school and then an 8th grade graduation in school, last day of... In 8th grade my parents didn't attend and I rode the bus back and forth to school that day. lol! We we asked to dress up but I don't remember full suits on guys. LOL, of course, I don't remember much... swiss cheese for memories since the big TBI auto accident @ age 20.

I can understand what you're saying Kat because 8th grade graduation ceremonies don't really make sense to me either. Why have a graduation ceremony at the end of 8th grade when there's still four more years of school to go before you actually graduate from school?

The girls, 14 year old girls, were dressed like 30 year old hookers on crack. I was appalled.
