My Single Mom Life: I'm all about saving a buck.

« Hahahaha! Oh my god, it's awesome! | Main | Full house of testosterone tonight. »

I'm all about saving a buck.

My neighbor asked if I needed to go grocery shopping, she was gonna give me a ride. Of course! beats walking.
So we went to Save-a-lot.
I had never been there.
I saved easily $100 on my regular shopping list.
I couldn't believe it.
They didn't have about 10 items I needed, I'll go to Publix for those.
But they don't bag your groceries. You bag your own. No big deal.
Holy crap. I'm still astonished at how much money I just saved.
Shake n' bake, .89 cents. WTF?!..lol
I'm used to paying $2.99 for that shit!
Salad dressing, ranch and italian, .99 cents each.
5lbs of hamburger for $5.00.
Boneless, skinless chicken breasts, 1.49 cents per pound.
12 pack of kelloggs pop-tarts for $1.99.
Shopping bliss!
I don't think I'll ever do regular shopping again at Publix. I'll just go there for the bulk of it and get the odds and ends they don't sell at Publix.
Damn.

I can't believe that you have never been to Sav-a-lot. I don't care much for the meat there ( I like Publix meat better) but they do have great deals on fruits and veggies and all the other stuff. I always buy name brand fabric softner but I bought new off brasnd at Sav-a-lot last week called Ensueno and I love it!! Only $1.49 I think.

If you like Pork Steak with BBQ seasonings on it, they have those too and they are awesome. LOL. Glad you went, they do have a good deal on meats.

Kat - we have those up here in Michigan too. Great prices. There is also a new store up here called Food Basics. Owned by Farmer Jacks, from what I understand, they are supposed to have the cheapest prices around. I'll see if they have a site and are around you anywhere.

Oh - and about bagging groceries? NONE of the stores up here do it anymore. Kroger, Farmer Jack, Trader Joes, Holiday, none of them. The only one that does it anymore is Meijers. They have the little bag carousel, and the cashier can drop it right into a bag next to her scanner.

Glad you found good prices! And good luck to Mark learning to cook!
