My Single Mom Life: December 2006 Archives

« November 2006 | Main | January 2007 »

December 31, 2006

Hahah, she's gonna be pissed.

Here it is almost 6pm and I'm not even showered yet.
I said I would be showered by the time she (Tina) got here. I may still have time to do that before she gets here, but I'm waiting for dinner to be done cooking, then serve the boys, then hop in the shower.

Dinner is almost done so I will be able to start getting ready.
Bad thing is I'm exhausted.
I did 3 loads of laundry, the dishes, cleaned the bathroom and floors.
I should have been resting all day.
Oh well.
I'll just have to find myself a nice comfy chair at the party to sit in when I get tired and sore.
What am I saying?
I'm sore now.
This is gonna be a long night, but it will be a fun night.

Don't forget, don't drink and drive.
Call AAA tow to go services if you need to.
Don't risk your life or anyone else' by thinking you can drive.

Have a happy and safe new years eve!
Later days.

Ooooh tonight is gonna be fun.

Tonight is the annual B&H New Years eve party. I am so stoked about this!
Last year was crazy, stripper pole, ice luge for doing shots, a wet t-shirt contest, and projected porn on the walls and all kinds of crazy antics.
This year promises to be even better because a live band will be there.
I plan on taking pictures and not drinking too much. I never do anyway, can't really drink much with all the meds anyway.

I'm going to take lots of pictures and post them up tomorrow when I wake from the dead..LOL

I have some c leaning to do here before Tina arrives, tons of dishes. I need a dishwasher.
Wait, I have two. Oh boys..., time to wash some dishes...LOL

Later days.

*Ok, so I took this pic the other day but it still totally counts! LOL

December 29, 2006

Now that I sorta have the new stuff figured out,

I can answer a couple questions I got.
Yay! I was wondering if Simasota Stories was going to come back the moment I read about you guys playing the Sims again.

Simasota was tragically destroyed in the Tsunami. Some very wealthy investors bought the land and spent the last year cleaning it up, leveling the ground, and rebuilding. They named it Pleasantville because they felt if they kept the name the same, no Sims would move there. I mean, I certainly wouldn't. They had one natural disaster after another and then the Tsunami that killed every single person who lived there. Tragic.

So....am I still married to Rob Zombie, or did we perish in the tsunami? Hehe.

Y'all died. But there is a new Belle who moved in, she may be of some relation. It's unknown at this time because she bought the house herself, has no husband or children, and no elderly type people have visited her.
It's a mystery.

But it is Belle who had the trapped and very sick maid.

maid dying.JPG

And she did die right there on the floor next to the $3,000 chess set.
Belle really didn't give a shit so she didn't plead for her life when the reaper showed up.

reaper.JPG

She was naturally freaked out, THE death dude is standing in her house and took her maids last breath and left a really ugly urn in her place.
Belle was totally jealous of the reapers cell phone. She asked where she could get hooked up with one like it, and he laughed at her. Very evil dude.

Stay tuned for the new stories and lives of the Sims of Pleasantville.

Hee hee, I'm such a dork...LOL

I'm hooked on playing the Sims again.

It's Sebastian's game and here I am playing it when he's not home or asleep. We take turns in truth.
It's hard to take turns, it's such a fun addicting game.
But anyway, last night I installed the Nightlife expansion pack he bought with his gift card and started to check it out. I was home alone, I didn't have to share so I played.
For 5 hours.
Time just flew by.
Whoosh!
But I noticed a glitch or something when my Sim chick came back from partying in Downtown.
The maid was stuck in the house and couldn't leave.
Trapped.
I tried to fire her, tried to call and hire a new maid, no luck. She's literally stuck on my property lot and she's dying.
Yes you read that right, my maid is dying.
She's sad and miserable and I can't interact with her, I tried and she just kept pacing back and forth in the house.
She has been eating small things that my sim leaves on the table or counter but she keeps getting that flashing bubble above her head for food. She has the bed bubble too.
She passes out on the floors and she smells.
This green stench haze rises up off of her along with flies swarming around her body.
She's dying and the grim reaper will soon be coming.
I can hardly wait!

I know how that sounds, Kat you sadistic fuck, but the game is new and in the original version of the Sims when the reaper showed up, you could play rock, paper scissors to save the dead sims life.
I hear you have to play the fiddle this time around. My Sim chick has mad music skills.
Kinda like the Devil Went Down to Georgia type fiddlin'.
I'm so game for that!
Or, I could just let the bitch die and have myself a cool ghost to live in my house.
I will take pictures of her death and the reaper and stuff once I figure out how.

The blog show Simasota Stories, went off the air due to a series of horrific natural disasters (computer problems, video cards) and all the inhabitants were washed away in a Tsunami and wiped the town right off the map.
Some very wealthy investors have rebuilt and named it Pleasantville and made it a huge booming city with plenty of jobs, nightlife, shopping and parks for families to take their little ones.
The new show, Sims of Our Lives, will begin in the new year. Stay tuned for romance, fortune and drama, cheating and death with all new characters living with open minds and hearts and free will.

Woozy woo.

I stayed up too late again last night. As usual and against what I really want to do which is sleep.
So I'm sitting here right now and almost fell over cuz I was like passing out.
I'm gonna go lay down now and see if this woozy woo tired stuff goes away.
Later days.

Showin' some love.

It's time once again for a little linky love.
I have found some new blogs out there and have been checking up on, some good stuff, so I want to share these new reads with all of you.

First up we have Julie.
She seems really down to earth, and has some health issues I can totally relate to. I love the colors and layout of her blog.
It's tidy. My OCD loves tidy blogs.

Next up is Heather from British Columbia. I have always heard how beautiful it is there and have wanted to go see it. Maybe someday I will get a chance. Maybe she'll post some pretty pictures for me to look at.
She has an adorable little doggie too.

Next we have Nicholi. He has a love of music and just started blogging fairly recently so go say hello. I love music myself and some of his observations of new cds and bands are dead on with what I think.

Marie is up next. She's another lover of music and loves going to concerts.
She had a rough and tumble time this past year but realized in the end that she's an independent single woman.
Hopefully this coming year will be awesome for her.

Not really new but not many people know about his blog I don't think, is Micheal. Metal head like me, lives in a great music scene out in Arizona. Wish I had that kind of scene here, I'd be out seeing bands every night.

Then we have Brandi. A fellow scoli surgery gal who is doing so awesome in her recovery. She still has up and down days like I do, but all in all is doing great.

Next we have CJ who has moved away from Florida and family due to strange and whacked out people. It was good to reconnect with her after a falling out awhile back due to strange and whacked out people.

And Aimee who will be doing an interesting meme this coming year for the crafty type bloggers.

Odd Planet is a humor blog. He collects odd news stories, dumb criminal stories, and funny photos and posts about them. Good funny stuff right there!

Celebrity scoop
writes about the latest happenings in the world of celebrities. She generally has about three posts there each day about the latest celeb gossip and news. More if someone does something gossip worthy.

Skeet's Stuff is a girl from Hawaii and blogs about all sorts of subjects but mostly about the island and it's cultures. Fascinating to me because I've never been there either and love reading up on all the places I'd love to visit some day. Bloggers who share about where they live interest me.

Queen Chris blogs about all sorts of topics from family to celeb new, to health, basically, what ever is on her mind. Much like me..LOL

I hope you all can find a few new blogs to read from this list.
I love all my daily reads but a few more new ones to perk things up for the new year is always a bonus.

Later days.

December 28, 2006

I can't think of a title so I'll just go with it.

My sister and my nieces showed up this morning and we all went out to eat at Denny's.
They are so damn cute!
I really don't get to see them enough and they get bigger and cuter every time I see them.

12-28-06 001.jpg

Then we headed to Walmart so the boys could spend their gift cards.
Mark got another headset for his new game, Sebastian picked up a Sims2 expansion pack, and Susan got some big girl undies cuz she goes potty now. I'm so proud of her! She's wicked proud of herself and so she got to pick out cute little girl undies. My little pony, curious George and some flowered ones.
Skye was a bit jealous so she got some new bibs for when she eats that have pretty pictures all over them.

12-28-06 006.jpg

Yes, the boys totally need haircuts and will be getting them next month when school starts again.

Susan wanted to look in my purse and she found my lip gloss so I had to put it on me, then her, and then Skye got jealous so I had to put it on her too...LOL

12-28-06 008.jpg

12-28-06 009.jpg

Sis got me some new work boots. I love work boots. They are so damn comfortable, I just love wearing them, and my old combats were literally falling apart so it was time for new ones.

12-28-06 010.jpg

I also got a gift card for the movie theater for me and the boys to go. Now I just have to figure out what I want to go see.
They redid the AMC at the mall and I hear it's really nice in there so this is a good gift for us.
The boys are now gone with sis till tomorrow sometime.
I have the whole house to myself. A much needed break. I love the boys and enjoy the time we have spent over Christmas vacation, but man oh man, I so needed break from all the petty bickering they have been doing over really dumb shit.

Later days.

W00T! We won!

Allison just won on Blingo so that means I won too!
It was either $10 in iTunes or a movie ticket.
I chose the movie ticket.
I don't have any use for itunes at all, but movies, I can use a movie ticket.
There's some great movies coming out soon and I have until March to cash it in.
So, yay! Thanks Allison!

December 27, 2006

Busy and fun day tomorrow.

My sister Joey is coming over in the morning and me, the boys, and my nieces and sis, are all gonna go do breakfast somewhere and then take the boys to spend their xmas gift cards she got them.
Then maybe the mall.
The. Mall.
I loathe the mall but I will go because if anything, the mall is good for people watching and that always makes me giggle and wonder about people.

Did I tell you how much I hate sharing my puter? I do. Hate it.
Oh well.

Later days.

That was seriously fun and scary!

We rented The Descent from Netflix and it came today.
That was awesome!
I loved the ending! oh my god I loved the ending!...LMAO

This movie was so jumpy, both Mark and I were freaking out and laughing cuz we were getting scared.
It was scary, bloody, exciting, heart pounding and let's not forget, claustrophobia inducing panic attacks.

I love the main character. She was strong and just the perfect amount of psycho to do what needed to be done.
I'm buying this one.
Yup. I totally loved this.

Former President Gerald Ford has died

Former President Gerald Ford, who became president in 1974 after the resignation of Richard Nixon, died Tuesday at age 93, his wife, Betty Ford, told The Associated Press.

President Ford was the only person to become President that was never elected as any portion of any Presidential ticket. Spiro Agnew was Nixon's VP but was forced to resign after being charged with tax evasion. Ford was nominated as Agnew's replacement in 1973 and ascended into the White House as the nation's 38th President less than a year later when Nixon was forced to resign over Watergate.

I was just a little kid when he was president, but when schools actually taught American history, his pages in our books said he was a very decent president and did a fine job.

Rest in peace Mr. President.

Ok, it's over. Can I take it down now?

This is Florida and the sun is shining and it's absolutely gorgeous outside.
Too sunny for it to be Christmas.
It makes me want to take the tree down and put all my other stuff back up. I'm kinda sick of looking at it already.
I'm tired of Shahiro thinking that no one can see her little gray body as she slowly climbs onto the arm of the recliner and gently steps onto the table where she pauses to make sure no sounds are emanating from what she's doing.
Then, when she thinks you haven't see her get this far, she jumps and stretches out her paws and claws, as far as she can to try and grab one of the homemade ornaments my mother crocheted and run away with it only to get it lodged under the fridge or couch.
Then of course, I have to retrieve them because she will meow and meow until I do.
I get it back and hang it on the tree and she rubs up against my legs purring.
Maybe this is a game to her. Hrm...

I got the cats their stocking this year as always. Three cans of gourmet cat food in delightful chicken or fish flavors, and a package of new furry mice.
They love the cans and scarf them down. They only get canned food once a year because cans give them the shits and I am not a fan of diars in the cat boxes. Rank smelling I tell ya.

But the mice, oh my god the mice. They will sit by the stocking staring with eyes wide, they know, they wait for it. I reach in and slowly pull out a fur covered toy mouse and they go nuts.
Kali, who never meows and when she does, it's this faint little "mew", all of a sudden has the vocal cords of a lion. "MEW!! MEW!! MEW!! I'm down here woman! Give me that mouse!!"
I get all if them to follow the mouse with their eyes and then I throw it across the house and they all go running for it and knocking each other over to get it.
While they are off trying to get that one, I take all the other mice out of the stocking, they come in packages of 10, and just drop them on the carpet.
They come back and go crazy throwing them into the air and carrying them around in their mouths and are just very happy kitties.
Every time I walk near the stockings, they seem to think there's more mice in theirs and go crazy mewing at me loudly and rubbing on me like I'm the magic mouse bringer.
I will be the magic mouse bringer today because after only just two short days, all the mice have been lost. They are under the couches, chairs and fridge.
The boys and I will move everything and dig out all the mice and give them to them again so they can lose them. Again.

Wasn't I just complaining about my weight?

This is what's left of our death by chocolate cake.

12-26-06 002.jpg

This cake is so moist and it's filled with multiple layers of chocolate creme, fudge and icing. The top is covered in frosting and a layer of crunchy topping. Kinda like that hard ice cream sauce you put on cones. I think it's called magic shell?
Then it has the glazed strawberries on top of that.
Oh my god yum.

Good thing I'm not starting my new diet plan/idea/thingy, till the new year.

Happy day after Christmas.

We ate ourselves silly last night. For once the boys said; "I can't eat anymore. My belly is gonna blow up."
Music to the ears of mothers of teens I tell ya.
Bottomless pit stomachs on teenage boys.
I should just cook a turkey every single month and let them pick at it. It fills you up, makes you tired. It was wonderfully quiet in the house all night long.

Sebastian is on my pc and I'm on theirs right now. He's playing his new Sims game he got for xmas and it can only be played on my new pc. I don't mind one little bit though. I get to play it too... LOL
Mark is playing the video games they got for xmas and loving it.

I'm about to try and lay down for a little bit. I still haven't been sleeping good, going on a week now. I get in there and lay down and my eyes pop wide open. It's starting to suck.

Ok, I'm outta here because while I'm greatful their pc works and I can use it, their chair is mega uncomfy to sit on and the monitor is at the wrong height so my neck is killing me and it's only been ten minutes.
Later days.

December 25, 2006

Happy almost over Christmas day.

I never did go to bed, I'm dragging butt here now.
Zzzzzzz.

The boys got lots of video games they wanted, they are super happy by what they got. I'll post it elsewhere.
They have been playing all day long and it was made totally possible because of mom and dad, Aunty Heather and Shell.
They are stoked beyond words, I'll send y'all pics.

Dinner was awesome, I'm still stuffed and we at at 1pm.
There is no room for chocolate cake...lol

I've been playing the Sims all day. A present Sebastian and I share together because we both lve playing that. Time goes flying by when you play it man. I think I lost about 4 hours today...lol

So anyway, our Christmas was good, happy, full bellied, people.
Hope all of you had a wonderful holiday as well.

Merry Christmas morning!

Good morning and merry Christmas!
I am wide awake, have been all night.
I got about 4 hours of sleep Saturday night into Sunday and none on Christmas eve.
Insomnia is harsh sometimes.
I cannot believe how absolutely wide awake I am. This is crazy.
It's most definitely too late to go to bed now, I'll never get up.
Oy.

The only things awake with me right now is some bug or lizard, and the three cats who are trying to catch and kill it.
At least I'm being entertained.
As long as they don't chase whatever it is up my chair and across my legs, they can have at it.

Ok off to find something to occupy a few more hours until the teens wake up.

Later days.

Carnival of the crazy hip blog mamas #13

carnivalblogmamas.gif

This week's topic: "New Year's Resolutions"

I do not make resolutions because I feel they set you up for failure.
People always say I want to lose weight, exercise more, do this, do that.
They end up not doing them.
So instead of saying I want, I say, I am going to, or I will.

I am going to keep working on getting stronger and healthier
.
I will keep taking all those calcium supplements to help my bones get stronger and my fusion heal.
I will keep wearing that hideous brace and bone stimulator because even though it's uncomfortable and icky looking, I want my bones to heal.

I am going to get back into my jewelry making slowly.
It's still very hard for me to sit in one place very long and it frustrates me that I can't just sit down like I used to and whip out 10 pieces a day.

I am going to make and save money as much as I can.
Some people feel and have told me, that they are annoyed with ads on blogs.
Too bad. I live on SSDI and it doesn't keep you afloat.
If they allow me to make so much money every month, and I am not allowed to work a conventional job, I will take whatever kind of paying "jobs" I can to pay my bills and stay afloat.
I'm sorry if that causes people to stop reading my blog but come live in my house for a month and see if you can figure out how to live on such a piddly amount and maybe you'll change your mind about paid advertisements.

I am going to stop over analyzing myself so much.
I get criticisms about what I write on my blog and I all too often take it as a personal attack on me. I allow other people's opinions to get to me. This is my blog about my life and I need to stop worrying about what people think of me so much.
I know how I live my life and what I'm doing or not doing, and I know that I'm doing the absolute best I can.

I will be a better parent this year.
I am not a bad parent, but this past year was the first time in all my years raising them alone that I slacked on certain parental duties like being more forceful about education.
I was so out of it after I came home from surgery, that I wasn't paying much attention to homework and class schedules and the like.
I take the problems the boys have had this past year on my shoulders just as much as I place it on theirs.
We are all equal in not doing what we needed to be doing.
Now that the fog has lifted, I will be far more attentive to their schooling and help them get out of the educational ruts they are in.

I will try to be a better friend.
I have trust issues with people and that tends to make me withdrawn and antisocial.
I will try to open up more to the people who have stayed in my life and to the new ones who have entered.
I owe it to them to be more open and to give trust with parts of my life which I hide away from people.

So there ya go, my list of things I will do this year.

Merry Christmas eve!

It's the day before and I have some wrapping to do later on once the teens are occupied a bit, some more dishes of course, the prepping of the holiday meal which means I have to get down on my hands and knees and dig through the cupboard to get out all the baking pans, corning ware, roaster pan, serving bowls and such.
Yes, I could ask the boys to do it but they don't know the difference between styles of pans yet. I plan on educating them because I've decided I'm not making this whole meal myself.

We will be having turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry/orange sauce, carrots, broccoli and cheese, stuffing and garlic rolls.
For dessert, death by chocolate cake with glazed strawberries on top.
I did purchase the meal from Publix, but it's only the turkey, taters, stuffing and sauce. I do have to heat it all up and then cook all the other items.
This year, they will help me and love every minute of it.
And it seems like an awful lot of food for three people, but they are teenage boys. They will go back for seconds and thirds. Then have more again the next day.

Today, we're gonna clean the house up so when sis stops by tomorrow it's nice in here. Not that it's filthy, I am constantly cleaning to keep myself occupied, but make it cleaner.

Here's a song for those of you who may have missed it last year when I posted it, or simply have never heard it.
Please right click and save as.
Ave Maria by Soundgarden

I know the title when you hover over and download, does not say Ave Maria, but it is.

Does it scan clearly, or darkly?

I just got done watching A Scanner Darkly and I really enjoyed it but need to watch it again because I'm sorta lost on it.
I'm one of those people who have never read the book, never even heard of the book, until the movie was in production.
I probably should have picked it up and read it then.

But anyway, I love the way this movie looks. It's surreal and floaty.
The story was interesting, I really will need to watch it again and again to have it sink in.
I was being interrupted with questions from the teens so I missed a few key things.
I think.

If you haven't seen it and like trippy type movies, go rent it or pick it up.
It is a good movie and it has Keanu.

December 23, 2006

Cleaned things up a bit around here.

I totally reorganized my sidebar on all my skins. It was a mess, I admit it. I just threw buttons, links, and ads, where ever for the last few months.
I also renamed one of the categories and edited all the entry titles for it because the meme it was for, changed the meme name for 2007. They made all new graphics and links so I wanted to correct that on my site.

That's one of the things I love about Movable Type.
Open up power editing and you can manage all your entries in just a few clicks and then rebuild the site.
It's so easy to do a search and replace for one word or twenty.

When I redid the sidebar, I removed a lot of useless crap I had on there. I didn't even realize how much junk was cluttering it up until I redid it.

So that's it, if you notice anything different, that's all I did.

I'm having a super quiet day here.

Taking care of laundry and dishes as usual, that stuff never seems to end does it? Doing some general pick up around the house, Mark just woke up, Sebastian is playing on their pc.

I figured while I have this time of quiet, I'd say thanks to all those who sent holidays cards and do a little linky love.

Thank you;

Here's a little gift for ya. Someday at Christmas by Stevie Wonder

Please right click and save as. Only Mom and Dad get to listen directly...LOL

"Someday At Christmas"

Someday at Christmas men won't be boys
Playing with bombs like kids play with toys
One warm December our hearts will see
A world where men are free

Someday at Christmas there'll be no wars
When we have learned what Christmas is for
When we have found what life's really worth
There'll be peace on earth

Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime

Someday at Christmas we'll see a Man
No hungry children, no empty hand
One happy morning people will share
Our world where people care

Someday at Christmas there'll be no tears
All men are equal and no men have fears
One shinning moment my heart ran away
From our world today

Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime

Someday at Christmas man will not fail
Take hope because your love will prevail
Someday a new world that we can start
With hope in every heart

Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmastime

Five Things You Might Not Know About Moi or Tag, you’re it!

Stolen from Brandi who stole it from Belle.

1. I have this crazy ability to remember every phone number I have ever dialed after only dialing it once.

2. I love the smell of coffee but can't stand the taste of it and can't drink it.

3. I have a birthmark in the shape of a diamond right at the bottom of my neck below my vocal cords. It's a perfect diamond shape.

4. I never make new years resolutions because I believe they set you up to fail.

5. I am insanely petrified of dying in a fire or drowning.

I'm not tagging anyone, I am just wide awake and needed something to post.

December 22, 2006

Pulse.

I watched the movie Pulse tonight.
It wasn't that good at all.
Kinda creepy in some parts but way lame ass ending to it.
I was really hoping that they'd either stop the dead people from coming through the computers or that it would end a little different.
Like maybe, the army found a way to fight them or some shit.
I dunno, just really hated the ending.

Glad I didn't want to pick up tomorrow.

We just got back from Publix where we picked up our food and I'm so glad I didn't request tomorrow as the pick up date.
The place was packed and they said they had over 300 orders to be picked up tomorrow.
It was nuts in there!

As we were waiting for our cab ride home, these young punks were harassing the Salvation Army bell ringer.
Asking him if he had any change, could they borrow some from the kettle. Throwing water bottles around and spraying it everywhere.
I turned to them and told them to get the hell outta there and quit being a bunch of useless thugs.
The bell ringer was obviously being pestered by them for awhile, he looked flustered and upset.
Stupid punks.

Just really glad to be home right now. It was just so busy in there and large crowds where people are pushing and being rude, get to me.

I am completely exhausted and my back is twitching,

but do you think I can sleep?
Hell no.
I went in there to lay down and my mind began thinking about everything I have to do tomorrow.
I have to clean out the fridge and make room for the turkey and sides I have to go pick up along with the cake, the dishes, the laundry, cleaning the house, wrapping some last minute presents for the boys etc etc.

I'm hoping by writing it all down that I can let it off my mind and be able to sleep. I need to sleep. The last few days have been sucky in the sleep department.
Every few hours, I was wide awake and then it would take another hour or so before I fell back to sleep again.
I even took my script for sleeping pills which I try to avoid taking because I really do think I am on too many scripts, and they didn't work.
Bleh.

Heh, all the cats are sitting here staring at me. They know it's past bedtime. I get up to pee or get a drink they run to the bedroom and when I don't follow them, they give me this look like "what the hell woman? it's bedtime, let's goooo!"
I'm going. Again. Soon. I hope.

December 21, 2006

I'm definitely feeling better.

The boys and I went out this afternoon to pick up my script and go buy some more food stuffs for the house at Sweetbay.
They can change the name but it's still Kash n' Karry to me. Still icky smell when you walk in the door.
I only went there because I had to go to CVS to get my script and didn't feel like walking a mile back to Publix and then back home again.
I never buy any meats at Sweetbay. I just can't get over the smell in the store. It smells like death.
Also, the employees are not friendly. None of them ever say hello or offer to help find anything.
It's an odd store.

Tomorrow though I do have to go to Publix and pick up our holiday meal and cake.
No scratch for me, just reheat and relax.

Ok off to try and reply to emails. They backed up on me again.
Oops.

Cheaters fudge part 2.

I posted I was gonna try to make fudge with one of those kits.
Well, it didn't work. It's basically mush. It's not solid.
You can't cut through it, you have to scoop it with spoon.
I have tried and failed at fudge once again.
*sigh*
With a fricking kit even.
*sigh sigh*

It's because people from southern Maine do not have an accent. Duh.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

I woke up this morning with a clogged yet runny nose, sneezing, coughing and achy all over.
Yay.
Not.
This officially sucks.

I am feeling very blah.

Like all I want to do is curl up in my bed and sleep the rest of today away. It hit me about an hour ago.
I just feel like sleeping.
I better not be coming down sick.

Door to door magazine sales.

I just got my first one of the season. I'm sure there'll be more.
They comes in waves like that.

The deal is they start off sweet talking you then roll into the pitch.
Trying to raise money for college, enter contests etc.
The scam is that you never get the magazines you ordered.
Pricey ones at that too.

They go door to door and hit parking lots as well.
The young guy admitted he has done it in walmarts parking lot.

He tried to bless me and then I cut him off mid-pitch.
No thanks, it's a scam. Have a nice day.

He left pissed off.

Film captures suicides on Golden Gate Bridge

News article. News article is old, but the movie was released on October 27th, 2006.

Golden Gate Bridge officials are seething that a movie maker who told them he was working on a "day in the life" project about the landmark was, in fact, capturing people on film as they jumped to their deaths.
"It's creepy," agreed San Francisco Supervisor Tom Ammiano, also a member of the district board. "Whatever the intention of the film, you can't help but think of a snuff film."
Movie trailer. *WARNING* This is real footage, not suitable for all viewers.

Now, I'm not condoning suicide, nor do I think this film should have been made under false pretenses, but the fact that they basically made a snuff film, intrigues me.
I really think I'd go see this, just to see it, to experience it.

In the trailer, those are actual jumpers, it's 100% real.

School vacation sucks.

Yes it does. Already.
Fighting, more like bickering actually.
Over really stupid annoying shit.
I can't believe how long I'm gonna have to put up with this crap.

Holiday cards.

I'm thoroughly embarrassed about this, it's the first year since I started blogging that Christmas cards will not be sent out.
I know I said I was going to, I even gave and got addys from a few people. I don't know where the time went to, or what prevented me from getting them.
It just dawned on me a few minutes ago that today is the 18th and I never even bought the xmas cards.
Wow.

So to those of you I normally send to, and those of you I said I was going to send to, I'm really sorry.
I simply do not have the finances to go get them today and send them out as I planned on.

I'm gonna go hide under my xmas blanket now.

Cheaters fudge.

I've never made fudge on my own, hell, never made fudge ever.
This year I'm making some and I'm going to cheat.
I bought a box of Eagle Brand Decadent Fudge kit.
Has anyone tried any of the kits?
I'll let you know how it goes. Might make it tomorrow. We'll have to see if the teens drive me crazy or not.
Right now at this moment, crazy.

The cheesecake treasures look good.
Mmmmm cheesecake.

This week's topic: "Favorite holiday memory from your childhood."

I've been thinking about this since Kim posted it several hours ago and wouldn't you know it? I can't think of any one particular holiday memory that sticks out as favorite.

I had a lot of great Christmas' as a kid. I usually got most of the stuff I wanted save for those really big fancy items my folks couldn't afford. I don't blame them though because we always had nice holidays. The house was always decorated and food was aplenty. Family was endless seated around huge tables stretched from the dining room through to practically the front door in the living room.
There was always room for one more too.
Mom made enough to feed an army should they arrive on our doorstep cold and hungry with no families of their own. One more chair could always be squeezed in, or a teen could happily move to the kids table.
The good dishes were brought out with the good serving utensils. The tables were covered in lace cloths. (Except for the kids table of course, that was plastic coated.)

I'd have to say no one single Christmas sticks out because they all were great and happy.

Thank you thank you thank you!

A huge thank you to Liz over at Great Green Baby for helping me with my archive listing templates and stuff.
Thank you thank you thank you!

I am an antichrist, I am an anarchist.

"Antichrist FTL*. It gets annoying after awhile."
Oh it gets annoying after awhile? Welcome to our world then.
Let me explain.

Recently, a young woman I know is questioning her faith. To quote her; "I'm about 5 seconds from saying fuck god."
She said that god doesn't pay attention to the suffering in the world and all that jazz. She prays and prays and nothing ever changes.
I took that opportunity to talk to her about realities.
Before I did that though, I explained to her why we have suffering in the world according to the bible.
It all dates back to Adam and Eve. They chose to sin and not just live happy in god's paradise that he made for them. He tossed them out never to return. That means, none of their sons and daughters can return either until you die and your soul ascends to heaven, his new paradise.

She said she was afraid to live in a world without a god because it would suck.
I said to her, who says life without a god sucks?
Someone else chimed in that there is no god.
I was trying to keep her on track and not just slam her with reality. *sigh*
Anyway, this is exactly what I said to her;

How can they suck any more than they do now? Think about this.
Before, when times were tough, you prayed and you had faith that god was with you and it still sucked. Right?
In a new mindset, certain things will still suck but this time, you won't be thinking that some imaginary man is going to fix it at some point because you asked him to.
In a new reality, you would see that to make things un-suck, you have to take charge. You would have to see that you have some control over how things go in your life and that no outside force is doing anything to you.
If you choose path A, things will happen. If you choose path B, things will happen. And along either path, you will have more choices to make on your own, not just blindly follow their twisting turns.

And then this was said;
Ugh dont dwell on the sad times and embrace the good times.

antichrist ftl.
gets a little annoying after a while.

Really? It gets annoying after awhile?
Try being a person who lives without god, and everywhere you go, you are bombarded with god messages. They come to your home, it's on tv in shows, it's on the news with people fighting to remove Happy Holidays because Christ is what Christmas is about. Try having your kids, who you raise secular, taught about Hanukkah and other religious traditions in public schools. Try waiting for a bus and have someone come invade your time to save you.

Those of us without faith are bombarded daily by those of you with faith and you call our little talks with people annoying after awhile?!

SEB just got one of those types of emails that I don't get too often, but I do get them.
Why do you atheists talk about god so much if you don't believe in him?
Why can't we?!
Don't you believers realize how much god talk and imagery we see every day? Do you have any idea how much of it is out there? You want us to just shut up about it because it's annoying?!
Hey! People! Listen to yourselves!
You don't even realize how much god talk is out there because it's your belief system that's out there all the time.
You get all freaked out when someone says Happy Holidays. Ridiculous.
Oh, if Christ is the reason for Christmas, you're doing it all wrong.
You need to take down your tree, send back your gifts and just sit around and pray.
Why? Because the Christmas you celebrate with a tree** and gifts and Santa Claus is a PAGAN holiday. That's right, a holiday made by people who did not believe in God.
It was to celebrate winter solstice.
/off

To those of you annoyed with us atheists for talking about it, stop and think sometime just how much god stuff we see all the time, how much we hear all the time, before you tell us how annoying it is.
You really have no idea.

*FTL = For The Loose for those of you not in "the know."

**
"Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. . . . They are altogether brutish and foolish." (Jeremiah 10:2-8)

What a long day, bed is calling me.

I forgot to mention that the teens are now on holiday break until the 3rd of January.
That's a wee bit too long doncha think?

Today was 10 months post op and not much to report on that front. Just been hanging around the house being exceptionally lazy.

I'm gonna go to bed and sleep in as much as is possible. I feel a long sleep is needed.
Later days.

Let the bodies hit the floor.

Oh hahahah! This made me laugh so hard.

It's alive! It's alive!

Hahahah! I amuse myself so easily.
In about 10 minutes, I removed the cd burner from the boys pc and installed it into Ace and it works. First shot outta the gate!
I feel all silly proud of myself now.
Wish I could have fixed Emo but I will fix it. I will. I'm just gonna mess around with it a lot until I get it right. Or, if Emo can't be fixed, I'll just mess around with it. Like take it apart and shit. See how it all ticks.

The face plate for the burner is cream colored, and Ace is black. Oh well, it worked first try and I didn't even need that extra little doohickey cord that I had to plug into it on the boys pc. I have no idea what that little doohickey cord is called, but on their pc which is a Gateway, I had to plug in 3 cords to make it work, only 2 on Ace.
W00t!
I'm still very pleased with myself.

It's hot and humid here and it sucks.

It's 75 degrees out today and humid as hell, like it has been for the last week.
Humidity sucks.

I went and did all my grocery shopping and spent way more than I wanted to, but I did put in my order for our Christmas cake and dinner to be picked up on the 22nd.
I'm thinking of renting from Netflix, the Silent Night, Deadly Night series to watch xmas day.
We have very untraditional holidays here and those movies are so much fun to watch.

My toe ring on my left foot spun around, my feet and fingers seem to have shrunk, and it's annoying me, not positioned right and it kinda hurts.
Well why don't you just spin it around Kat?
Because I can't reach my left toes thank you...LOL

Apparently someone hates Walgreens as much as I do.

Hot damn!

Ace is just chock full of goodies baby.
He has a dvd-rom and I wasn't entirely sure what that did, but it plays all cd roms, cds and dvds. It plays dvds better than my tv does!
For serious people. That picture is freaking crystal clear.
I think I'm in love. *sigh*
The only thing Ace did not come with was a burner. I have one. I can do a transplant surgery.
The burner is installed on the boys pc and they never use it, don't know how, but when I got it, my Emo did not have a slot for it so I put it on theirs.
I can do a cd burner transplant surgery! *muwahahahah!*
I really hate to open Ace up so soon and see what makes him tick, but I'm the music fiend in this house and it simply must be done.
*We can make him stronger, faster, more powerful. He will be, the bionic pc*

A side note for Terry.
No, that is not a food processor sitting next to him. It's two spindles of blank cds.
What's that? I was supposed to send you a spindle of blank dvds?
Yes, I know, I am working on it. I'm waiting on the cat charm to arrive. That way, I can pack everything into one box and mail it out.
I'm smart that way, save myself some shipping money to Canada.
What's that? That wasn't the original plan?
I know. I suck. You can send me hate emails if you like, pictures of dead things if it will make you feel better.

P.s. I will answer emails in a few minutes, promise. :D

Here he is.

This is Ace, he came today and he's beautiful and works fucking awesome!

12-14-06 004.jpg

Ace came pre-installed with WinXP pro, Norton and a whole bunch of programs with no manuals...lol
I will figure it out.

I love him!!!!!
But now comes the fun of installing all my programs for my scanner and all my FF add ons etc. Oh, he also came with a new mouse and a new keyboard which weighs like an ounce. The keyboard I had must have weighed at least 3 lbs. I can't believe how light this is.
Not complaining though, I really truly love him!!

Top 10 most dangerous toys of all time.

This article had me rolling with laughter, tears streaming down my face.
Oh my god, so damn funny.

The Fisher-Price Power Wheels Motorcycle is one of those toys kids salivate over for years. Even adults can barely contain their jealousy when the little brat from down the block whizzes by on that shiny plastic hog. But the ride wasn't always so smooth. In fact, on some models, there was a rather serious glitch.

Eager youngsters who gunned the throttle found that it often stayed gunned, stuck in a petrifying state of perma-acceleration. Presumably, the child on the motorcycle was then taken on a hellish, intestine-twisting scream ride. At one point, he or she would face choices unthinkable except in an Evel Knievel meets Knightrider crossover episode: Do I jump? Or do I ride it out and see if I can clear the gully? Is it sentient? Can it be reasoned with?

Rock on my twisted little friends!

Thanks to my call for the one mp3, I ended up getting the whole cd.
Yeuss!
So this morning I offer you the totally rocking version of Oh come all ye faithful. Gone gone gone.

Don't be a dick, always right click and save as.

Oh please oh please oh please!!!!!

Somebody tell me someone has the mp3 of Twisted Sister doing "Oh come all ye faithful."
I'll paypal you $5 if you have it.

They just did it on Leno which means there is probably a recording of it out there some where.
That seriously rocked. LOL

I have this obsession with collecting very different versions of Christmas songs.
I have a very rare recording of Guns N' Roses doing White Christmas that is interesting to say the least.
My all time favorite though is Ave Maria by Soundgarden.

Last Saturday, I was supposed to get a letter delivered, it was paid as expedited over night. They didn't deliver it till Monday. *squint*

But I can still sorta hope right? Right?!

Santa, you rock!

Privately, you can read more about Santa.

Dear Terry,

I have emailed you several times at your xplornet email account and you have not been getting them.
Your email sucks. *said in the most loving manner possible*

Please sign up for a FREE Gmail account so that you can get emails all the time.
It has a ton of space to store and save emails. It can hold pictures, there are labels, and skins, and cool stuff like Gmail chat!

Please Terry, sign up for a Gmail account so that you will stop thinking I'm ignoring you.

Hugs and smooches,
Kat

It's raining and grey out.

Kind of matches my mood today.
I just feel blah today.
Paid all my bills and now I'm sitting here bored and don't have a clue what to do.
I could attempt to fix my archives again so that they are monthly and not categorical, but I tried that the other night and almost wiped them out.
I suck at trying to do things within MT. I can do basic html stuff, headers, simple things, but change the archive settings? Forget it.
I guess I'll do more laundry and stuff around here.
I know, boring. Blah.
Later days.

Black light + bathroom = OMG!

Seriously, if you have a black light, take it in the bathroom, plug it in, turn it on, whatever, close the door, turn off the regular light.
Be prepared to be scared.

I decided to take the little black light lamp from the urine gone into the bathroom. That stuff works on animal pee and human pee, so why not go see how bad the bathroom looks even with weekly cleaning with bleach, after 9 years living in this house with boys.
I almost screamed.
Even areas that have been cleaned every single week with bleach cleaner, glowed around the base of the toilet and the lower wall area next to the toilet.
Scary.
So I sprayed and poof, it didn't glow anymore.
Interesting.

And last night, I had the boys go around the carpet areas where we knew the cat had peed and use the light and spray.
This morning, I knelt down there and smelled right up close on the rugs, no cat pee smell at all.
That stuff really does work.
I'm impressed.

I should have bought two.

December 11, 2006

Dear Santa,

You know who you are.
Thank you so much. :)

Santa is sending me a new pc. I can't even begin to say thank you enough.

Call to moveable type gurus.

I need some help with monthly archive listing/template stuff.
Please email me at mysinglemomlifeATmail.com

Thank you!

Now that's a deal

The boys and I went to the store to get some food and stuff, and we went over to Walgreens, they each had a couple dollars to spend and chose to go there.
While there, I notice they have that Urine Gone stuff.
For $9.99.
It's supposed to be $19.99.
I have a cat who has peed here and there and this stuff is supposed to not only get rid of the cat smell, but also deter them from going there again.
So I let the cashier ring it up and when it rings up at $19.99, I tell her nope, that's not what the shelf says.
She's all arguing that that is the correct price and I said; "Well that's not what your shelf says. I'm buying it because the shelf says it's $9.99. If it's not, I don't want it."
She calls over the manager who then goes to the shelf and comes back with the shelf sticker in his hand and voids out the $19.99 and rings it up as $9.99.
He thanked me for pointing out the mistake and bringing it to their attention.
I got a supposed to be awesome product for way less than it should have been.
I did gloat walking back up the sidewalk to Publix.
Their mistake is my gain.
I'm sure karma* will come back and bite me in the ass for that later on but dammit, it was too good a deal to just let slide especially when I do need it for cat pee.
Let the hateful you're so going to hell comments begin, I can take it.
Has anyone else ever knowingly gotten a deal that shouldn't have been a deal? I can't be the only one that has done this. I've never done it before and I do feel almost guilty for it, but it is their policy that if they mark something wrong, you get it for the marked price unless it's over priced wrong. Then they give it to you for the lower correct price.
It even comes with that little black light thing to help you find the pee stains.
W00t!

Then we went to Publix and got a ton of groceries. I can shop so good on a budget. I even got the cats some cat food and some more toilet paper.
The cats had run out last night and were so damn funny this morning.
If Nova could talk, I know exactly what she would have said this morning.
She sat by the empty bowl looking from the bowl to me and back several times. She even made a few noises. It was obvious what she was saying.
"Hello, lady, did you forget something this morning? Like our food? Um, hello, bowl, empty, food, hungry, it's empty!"
Hahaha! Poor kitties, but they survived. If they had kept it up with the tripping me though, they would have been in some serious trouble.
That is so annoying. It's not their fault we ran out of food but they do have a choice in whether or not to attempt to kill me as I walked from my bed to the bathroom this morning and when I went to get a glass of water.
Sis and I did get them a small box of food this morning when we were out and they were so happy to see food in the bowl. Damn 7-11 though. You have a need and they charge you excessively for it.
The cats probably would have killed me if they had had to wait till the kids came home this afternoon to get some food.

Ok, I'm off to make some dinner now and the relax for the night.
Later days.

Karma is biting me in the ass. I think I pulled a muscle in my left leg getting out of the cab because it fucking hurts really bad.

I just took the longest shower I've ever taken.

I must have stayed in there an hour. It just felt so damn good to be in there getting all soapy and wrinkly.

My sis came over this morning and we took my old EMO (pc) to a repair shop where instead of just doing a simple hard drive install, he said it wasn't worth it and tried to sell us a refurbished piece of shit.
I know that the hard drive install is super easy for the right computer geek. I came home and called another guy and told him my tale and he was like yeah, that could be done in less than an hour probably. If I wanted a totally new tower, I'd find a way to get one. I just want the drive installed and then I can install xp myself.
For some reason, it's just not wanting to read it correctly.
The second guy did give an idea on what may be causing it to give me that message and I'll try it out later on when I have patience.

I have zero patience right now.
See, teenagers are funny creatures.
On Saturday, Mark got a call from a friend of his who has slept over here before, to go to the mall. Sebastian, as most little brothers do, asked if he could go.
Mark said he would ask.
When they pulled in the drive, Mark simply jumped in the car, he didn't ask.
Then he called from his cellphone about 20 minutes later to say he asked and the dad said no.
I waited till Sunday to ask him about this because when he came home Saturday night, I had a massive migraine and just wanted to lock up the house and go to bed.
He admitted he never asked. That he lied about asking.
I asked him why and he said that he didn't want Sebastian to go, which is typical of big brothers.
I asked why he lied, which was the real reason I was asking, I didn't care that he didn't want Sebastian to go, it was the lying that had made me angry.
He said he figured either way I'd be pissed so he chose to lie about it.

This bothers me. It's like the old saying, "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask permission."
Mark knows what he did, lying, was wrong, but he chose to take his chances on getting caught anyway.
I've grounded him for lying, I don't like liars and a lesson must be learned from this.
So he's grounded from a weekend birthday party he was supposed to attend this coming weekend.
A bit harsh? Maybe. But it's just not ok to lie.
Bleh.

"Things you've done to get that special hard to find toy".

I didn't pay a few bills. Took a major risk having some things get shut off so they could have it.
I think that's probably the only thing I've done to get something they really wanted.

Probably not as amusing as I think.

I have this weird habit of taking my empty prescription bottles and tossing them in my desk drawer.
I don't know why I do it.
Maybe I'm thinking that those labels are full of vital information that identity thieves would be able to use. But then again, stealing my identity is not going to net them anything good at all. My credit is shit.
Maybe I'm thinking I will spend time washing all those labels off so thieves can't steal my info.
I honestly don't know why I do it.

I had to get a particular bottle out of there this morning to get the telephone number for the pharmacy to ask a question about holiday hours and stuff, and the sight of this struck me completely funny.

12-10-06 001.jpg

I'm sure it's not funny to others, I'm sure it looks very bad indeed.
But in my defense, I was only getting my meds 1 weeks supply at a time. It looks like I am taking a shitload more than I am.
But still, this image made me chuckle uncontrollably at the sight of all those bottles just tucked away in a drawer.

She's an old bitch now.

Picture 002.jpg

Today is Shell's birthday, she's old now.
I'm not gonna say how old cuz friends never rat each other out, but trust me, she's up there.
Go over and wish her a happy birthday.

It's amazing to look back and see just how far someone has come, how much they have changed in their life.
She was the party animal, always having fun, always up for whatever road trip or whatever kind of trouble we could get into.
I'm not saying that she's gone boring now because I know if I said next time you drive down here, we're gonna go do xyz, she'd be all fucking hell yeah, let's do it!
I'm saying, she's grown up to be an awesome mom and an even better friend than I could have ever imagined.
She's been there for me through thick and thin, hard times, good times, the birth of both my sons. She's been there for my family as well most recently, having a prayer blanket sent to my mom, (who she has always called her mom) which brought great comfort to my mother when she was facing possible cancer. It's those little thoughtful things she does year round that let's you know this is a friend who is always going to be in your life, always going to have her shoulder ready or have a funny story to tell.
So happy birthday to the best friend anyone could ever ask for.
I love you and miss you tons.
Move to Florida bitch.

FCCFU

FCCFU.

Thank you. That is all.

Time doesn't make you forget, but you can move past things.

Today I received a comment from someone I hadn't web spoken to in about a year or more.
It was a huge mess of deceit and scheming plots and just general dysfunction between two feuding women's message boards.
I was quite taken back to get that comment and responded in wonderment, why are you even bothering talking to me after all you and your acquaintances tried to put me through? What good could possibly come from this I wondered.
I sent a reply back full of feelings, what they had put me through, and I wasn't expecting another reply back but I did get one, and I replied back again.
Time didn't make me forget what had happened, but through communication and seeing that the both of us had been put through hell by one seriously demented woman, we realized we both had been duped, taken in by her and used, and her issues had absorbed everyone and caused all of us issues.
It feels good to finally have that small segment of my life resolved.
It took courage for her to come here and post that comment and open up the lines of communication again and I can respect that.

I hate the chic that played Lois.

I really enjoyed Superman Returns but hate Kate Bosworth. She just did not have what it takes to play spunky Lois Lane.
Bah, she sucks.
But I did enjoy the movie overall. I think Brandon Routh did a very good job, he made Superman his own. Those were some pretty big tights to fill and he did a great job.
I loved how the original theme song was used. The opening started and I got a smile on my face.
I think Kevin Spacey did a pretty good job too but not too over the top.
I think Kitty Kowalski, played by Parker Posey, could have had just a bit more to her role. I don't know how, but I just didn't think she was done right.
I'll watch it again before sending it back. I was having an issue with my wires again. It's weird, if the wire from the dvd/vcr isn't held in just the right position, it scrambles the screen. I had completely fogot about that until more than halfway through the movie before I got up and fixed it.
Why did I forget about doing all that?
Because yesterday when I had the computer issues, I moved the boys tower out here and we'll all just have to share for awhile, and moved some other electronics around too.
Hooked up the vcr that my sisters boss gave her to give to us up to the dvd player and tv and I didn't adjust the wire. I hooked up that vcr because my vcr didn't have the right audio/video plugs. *phew*

Ok, enough rambling.
Later days.

Groceries or medicine?

There's a reason so many seniors have to make that choice.
SSI and SSDI, go up a few dollars in January.
A few, like no more than $20.00.
And because they give a few extra dollars, they increase the medically share of cost payments and decrease any other benefits people get.
It's ingenious. Make people think they are going to be ok by announcing the increase right before the holidays and then hit 'em again a few weeks later with the wonderful news that their other benefits are being cut.
It's fab-u-lous.

I'm having a blah kind of day, just want to be totally lazy, so I'm gonna kick back and watch Superman Returns that came from Netflix today. Then I'm gonna move my lazy butt to the store to get us some dinner and stuff.
Later days.

1 happy, 1 pissed.

My happy thought today is that my mom's tumor removal went very well. There is no cancer! Yay!
This is such good news. *phew*

My pissed off is I just got into a shouting match with my neighbor.
Yes, that neighbor.
Over what?
Yup, that subject.
It felt kind of good to finally get that off my chest.
Don't ever ask me what's wrong, or if I'm mad at you for something because I have a duty to tell you the truth at that point.
Sorry, but I'm calling it as I see it. And my kids see it.

Ok, so that didn't go as well as planned.

It's so damn stupid. The new drive gets installed, BIOS recognizes it, but when trying to install winxp, it says I have no hard drive installed.
Stupid freaking computers.
I have been at it all damn day and finally gave up. For now.
I'll try again some other day when I'm not pissed off at the damn thing.
Later days.

The 2nd NTFS boot sector is unwriteable.

Yup, there ya have it, my hard drive is on it's very last leg as I type. I'm on the boys pc, mine won't do shit unless it's in safe mode, so today I will be once again, saving all my pictures to gmail, and then I will attempt a hard drive transplant.
I'm not a skilled hard drive surgeon by any means, but I have google and a working pc in another room on my side. I figure between the 3 of us, we should be able to successfully save emo's (short for a 9 year old emachine) life.
I know, he's 9 years old, just buy a new one. I can't. I don't have money to do that. It's Christmas and the boys come first, always have, always will.

If over the next few hours, possibly days, you see this blog with a bunch of posts filled with the word fuck and shit and god fucking dammit straight to hell, just know it' not aimed at anyone but my stupid fucking piece of shit computer that I just fucking installed xp on like 2 fucking months ago and now, now it decides it's going to shit the fucking bed and go to pc heaven.
Fuck you emo you stupid fuck!
I'm off now to check emails and google transplants.
This sucks.

December 4, 2006

Not again. *sigh*

I woke the boys up this morning and sent them off to school. Everybody was fine, in happy moods, or so it seemed.
I got a call from Mark at about 8:30am saying he was in the health room. He was sick, he threw up and the school nurse took his temp and said he had to go home.
Have a fever, you have to go home.
So he came back home and has been asleep ever since. Looked a little pale.
It really better not be the stomach flu. We just got over the head cold type of flu thingy.
I can't handle more sickness, not right now.
I know, we don't get to choose when we get sick, but dammit, we just got over being sick!
I have things to do this week, I can't stay home and tend to sickies.
I have a primary care doc appointment on Wednesday. I waited a month for this appointment. I can't cancel it, I'll be waiting for another month, or months. No!!!
I have things to do around my home, I have been putting off my own things to help others and I need to be selfish right now, my own home is lacking my attention and it's showing.
Bah.
Later days.

Carnival of the Crazy Hip Mamas #10

This is my first time doing it but it's #10.
Sometimes I run out of blog ideas so memes of this type can be fun to help me write things.

This week's topic: "Traditions".

Since it's holiday time, I am going to limit this post to holiday traditions....more specifically, Christmas traditions. (stolen from Kim).

As a kid, holidays were magical, we always watched all the specials on tv, Rudolph, Santa Claus is coming to town etc.
The tree would be real except for those few times we had a fake one but you'd never know it was fake because mom always decorated it so well.
Mom would bake dozens and dozens of cookies and make home made frosting for them and we'd all help decorate them.
I'll tell you the story of the last batch of cookies in a minute.

The house was always done up, and the tree was always in the front window. Music would always be playing and mom would be in the kitchen baking and singing right along.
I remember the giant Sears wish book and I'd carefully go over it for weeks picking out exactly what I wanted.
I think I knew Santa wasn't real from a very early age. I remember a few times hearing my folks talk about how they could afford presents for all us kids. (They had Mike, Joey, me, Frankie and a few foster kids all the time plus nieces, nephews, cousins.)
But even knowing he wasn't real didn't take away any enjoyment at all, it as still magical.
I still watched all the shows and decorated cookies and helped mom as much as she'd let me in the kitchen.

With my own kids, I didn't do things as they did. I never told them Santa was real. I have always told he wasn't. I get a lot of crap for that. I've been told that I'm ruining Christmas for them by taking that part away. I've asked them about that and they have said no, that it was never ruined. They appreciated what they got more because they knew the gifts were from me.
I've never baked dozens of cookies with them, I have never baked pies for days on end. I buy cookie dough and frozen pies. I buy my meals pre-packaged from Publix.

We do have our own traditions though. We always decorate together, hang up our stockings, watch all the classic kids specials. Most of which I own on tape because I loved them so much as a kid, I wanted to be able to watch them with my own kids when ever and not have to wait for a time and date to watch them. We can watch them without commercials when ever we want. Sebastian has even watched them in the middle of July...lol

We pick out what we want from Amazon together, adding things to our wish list and going back and forth on what we want like a bunch of little kids.
We decide what we want for our dinner, what kind of pie or cake for desert, they help cook it all that day. We watch the parades that are on while it cooks, we have the same snacks while watching the parades. We have crackers and a cheese ball, home made punch made with ginger ale and sherbet, bacon and eggs for breakfast. They help me clean up all the mornings dishes, and set the table or get our school trays out and ready.
Since getting those two years ago, we have used them for every holiday except this past Thanksgiving.
We love those.
We open our presents together and give the cats their cans of cat food from their stockings. The cats only get cans once a year and Christmas is that time. They love it and seem to know, they paw at their kitty stockings that morning when they see us opening gifts.
The boys then open their stockings and dig out all their candy and small presents.
Then I try to explain over and over that no, the mall or Best Buy or what ever store they got gift cards for, is not open Christmas day and no, I will not be going to any of them the day after either because they will be jam packed with people returning gifts they hated and getting day after xmas deals.

We spend the afternoon watching movies or playing with new toys.
All in all, our traditions while not like the ones when I was growing up, have suited me and the boys well. We do what we like doing and aren't set to a standard or rules.

Now, the last cookie story.
I don't recall where my parents had to go that day, but they left me, my brother Mike, and sister Joey, in charge of decorating the cookies.
This was when we were much older, I know I was at least 17 and had been out partying the night before.
They left and my brother decided he was going out some where. My sister left too. I was left alone with like 12 dozen cookies to do alone and I was quite hungover from the night before.
I was pissed off I got deserted and thought it was totally unfair I had to do them alone.
I did the first few dozen ok, did them really nice but after several hours carefully spreading frosting on and making the trees look like real tress and the Santas look like Santas, I gave up and just started splatting frosting all over them and threw sprinkles at them.
I bagged them up with still wet frosting and left the house myself to go party with friends some more.
When my parents got home, I took all the shit that came from ruining the cookies.
Yes, I ruined them, I admitted to that. But I was not left alone to do them, they were supposed to stay and help. They bailed on me before even doing 1 stinking cookie.
My mom was upset, my dad was pissed. But not at them, just me.
They didn't get yelled at, just me.
I hated them for that. The left and went out to have fun and got in no trouble at all for the cookie fiasco.
I still harbor a bit of resentment over this as you can see. It still bothers me to this day that the two of them never got in one bit of trouble for it but I got yelled at for the whole night and most of the next day and when ever anyone asked why the cookies looked so bad, they were told it was all my fault. I suffered dirty looks from relatives that whole Christmas and have been reminded of it for many years after.
I really think this is a big part of why I never made home made cookies with my kids. I didn't want to deal with it, go through the hassle and make any one kid feel like it was their job to do them perfectly.
I know my folks didn't mean to make me feel bad about it, it just happened.
I wish I could get over that, but I remember it every year in vivid detail and it always makes me feel bad.

Stuff to complete on Sunday.

*repair 1 bracelet and prepare to mail
*finish Christmas decorating

I think I love my purple lighted xmas tree. :)

Slow, then fast.

Most of today dragged by and then all of a sudden, it's 8pm. What the hell?
I promise I will get back to everyone who emailed me today about jewelry and other stuff.
I have been unable to concentrate on any one thing for like the last hour. Like my head keeps getting all scrambled.
Dunno.
Ok, off to start answering emails and getting packages ready to go out etc.
Later days.

Happy feet?

Has anyone seen this?
I keep hearing how awesome it is but then I keep hearing that kids are leaving the theater crying because of how religious and political it is?
I personally won't be seeing it, a movie with nothing but penguins? Um, no.
So, tell me about the movie, I want to know why kids are crying.

Getting back in my own swing of things.

I'm exhausted taking care of others and doing for others. That sounds so selfish I know, but it's been a very hectic and stressful 2 weeks for me and I need to take back my time, my space, my life.
So tomorrow, I'm getting my house back in shape, cleaning, organizing and digging out all my xmas stuff.
Practically everyone I know has already put up their xmas decorations, they did them like the day after Thanksgiving.
That's far too soon for me, even tomorrow feels too early, but maybe if I do it, I'll start to get out of this funk I'm in.
I've been battling this flu or whatever it is, since last Sunday afternoon. It comes and goes. Hot and feverish and tired one day, and then fine the next. Today was one of those tired and feverish days. I just didn't feel like doing much of anything at all.

I have two packages to mail out tomorrow, waiting on a package from UPS, and then sending something back out by UPS.
I'm clearing out my inventory on my jewelry site. I posted it elsewhere and a woman bought a bracelet set and another woman bought 3 pairs of earrings.
This is how I'm doing this because I want to clear out all the pieces I've made and haven't sold so I can buy new beads and findings so I can get back into this again. I've been so bored and tired of sitting on my ass, so if there's something on the site that hasn't been marked as sold, email me and offer me a price, I'll say yes. I just want the stuff gone so I can buy more stuff to make more stuff. My hobby money account is at zero so I have to sell the old stuff to fund my jewelry account.
All pieces will be shipped priority mail for $5.00, so buy a lot for cheap and pay one low price.
I need more wire, more beads, more findings and a new pair of cutters.
Help me out, buy my stuff...lol
I really want to get back to this regardless of docs sitting restrictions. I have so many ideas I've been writing down and wanting to do.

I need to be sleeping right now but I can't sleep. I have so much on my mind and that makes it very hard for me to sleep no matter how exhausted I am.
I guess I'm gonna go watch Jimmy Kimmel, add movies to my netflix account and then attempt to sleep at some point. I really feel like going for a walk but it's midnight. Bah.
Later days.

Lies, tell me lies.

Moved. I was angry when I posted this.
