Ok, it's over. Can I take it down now?
This is Florida and the sun is shining and it's absolutely gorgeous outside.
Too sunny for it to be Christmas.
It makes me want to take the tree down and put all my other stuff back up. I'm kinda sick of looking at it already.
I'm tired of Shahiro thinking that no one can see her little gray body as she slowly climbs onto the arm of the recliner and gently steps onto the table where she pauses to make sure no sounds are emanating from what she's doing.
Then, when she thinks you haven't see her get this far, she jumps and stretches out her paws and claws, as far as she can to try and grab one of the homemade ornaments my mother crocheted and run away with it only to get it lodged under the fridge or couch.
Then of course, I have to retrieve them because she will meow and meow until I do.
I get it back and hang it on the tree and she rubs up against my legs purring.
Maybe this is a game to her. Hrm...
I got the cats their stocking this year as always. Three cans of gourmet cat food in delightful chicken or fish flavors, and a package of new furry mice.
They love the cans and scarf them down. They only get canned food once a year because cans give them the shits and I am not a fan of diars in the cat boxes. Rank smelling I tell ya.
But the mice, oh my god the mice. They will sit by the stocking staring with eyes wide, they know, they wait for it. I reach in and slowly pull out a fur covered toy mouse and they go nuts.
Kali, who never meows and when she does, it's this faint little "mew", all of a sudden has the vocal cords of a lion. "MEW!! MEW!! MEW!! I'm down here woman! Give me that mouse!!"
I get all if them to follow the mouse with their eyes and then I throw it across the house and they all go running for it and knocking each other over to get it.
While they are off trying to get that one, I take all the other mice out of the stocking, they come in packages of 10, and just drop them on the carpet.
They come back and go crazy throwing them into the air and carrying them around in their mouths and are just very happy kitties.
Every time I walk near the stockings, they seem to think there's more mice in theirs and go crazy mewing at me loudly and rubbing on me like I'm the magic mouse bringer.
I will be the magic mouse bringer today because after only just two short days, all the mice have been lost. They are under the couches, chairs and fridge.
The boys and I will move everything and dig out all the mice and give them to them again so they can lose them. Again.

It has to be quite a sight with kitties going crazy. We have only one and she settles for a small bowl of catnip once in a while that has to be up off the floor or the puppy will get into it. Happy Holidays to you and yours!

I'm laughing out loud over your story about the kitties. :) Sounds like so much fun.
