Grassy ass.
I'm writing to say thanks to JJ over at I.M. Cupnjava's Writing Café, for a very detailed analysis of my blog.
I asked her to do it.
She's a writer by trade, an erotic writer, my fave kind. ;)
She read back to January, checking my categories, my style, what I write about.
She sent me some very interesting observations, much of which I already knew about myself because this is my blog after all.
Part of what she told me was that my categories were all over the place, I knew this already, and had begun to clean them up here and there when I found myself bored.
But she clued me in on what people see when they read me.
I am a mommy blogger, a parent, a general writer of all things my life, and while I resented it because I see myself as much more than that, I understand it.
There's nothing wrong with being a mom blogger, but to others who may be looking at this blog, it may not appear as I have much to say about anything else because the bulk of my posts are about my family life.
This prompted the massive cleanup of catgeory archives into full swing. I am more than my family. I love them dearly, I am passionate about them and what affects them, (FCAT, local politics, bad teachers, thug kids in the hood) but I am also a multi-faceted individual.
I love music, know it, enjoy it, sing it, play it. I love great books and movies. I love to talk religion and politics even if my views on them are vastly different than most people around me.
I am many things aside from being a kick ass mother.
It was just really nice to have an outside pair of eyes looking at this.
Does this mean I'm going to change how or what I write? Hello no! It just means things will be better organized so that outsiders will be able to see there's more to me than just being a mom. Moms tend to get swept under the rug, hidden by their apron strings, discounted.
So thank you JJ for helping me to see the areas that need to be cleaned up so that people can see 'me' more clearly.
