My Single Mom Life: What would you do?

« Things are going good here. They must want something. | Main | Why does he get so many? »

What would you do?

This afternoon while we were all just sitting here at about 4pm, Mark told me about this kid from school who told him something horrific today.
He told me this kid told him and a few others, bragging, that over the weekend, he and some of his friends captured a cat and tied it up, beat it, burned it with lighters and cigs, kicked it, threw rocks at it, and then finally burned the poor thing until it died.

I tried to call the school immediately to tell them this students name, but it was 4pm and no one answered.
Would you then just call the cops? Would you wait until tomorrow to call the school and talk to the school cop about it?
The kid told the others that they videotaped it and kept watching it over and over again.
This makes me so sad, and pissed off to boot.
I hate it when rotten punks hurt defenseless animals and murder them.
Yes, it is murder to take another life so viciously.
I am definitely calling someone about it, I just don't know which is the proper channel right now.
All I have is the kids name, no address or anything like that.
The school would be able to give that info to the cops I'm sure, I just don't want this to go ignored.

Did you think of calling Children's Services? I don't know what who I would call first....the school, the police or children services? What comes to my mind is, Do the parents know about this? Are the parents around, or involved with the kids? What kind of home life does this kid have? I'd definately alert the school in the morning, but I'd call the Children Services tonight (if they have an emergency number or a number to report suspected abuse) and maybe even the police. SOMEONE has to care what this kid is doing. The kid needs to learn that it's not ok to act this way or treat an animal with such disrespect. I am so angry and frustrated and sad for this kid all at the same time.

Nothing shows how much "trouble" a kid is going to be when it grows up more than if they are cruel to animals like that.

Is there any way that you could call a non-emergency line at the police station and talk to someone there? If not then I would be on the phone to the school first thing in the morning.

I am sure they will deny it all and then I hope that it doesn't fall back om Mark being some sort of narc. You cannot not do something though, ya know?

I'm going to be on the phone first thing in the morning to the school and before I tell them anything, I am going to demand their word that my sons name will not be involved.

It does show exactly what type of person this kid is going to be like when he grows up. It's very troubling to hear about this today.

I can't call the cops or childrens services because all I have is a name. No address, no parents name, nothing like that.
I have to hope and trust that the school will take this seriously and investigate. The kid said he made a video of it so if the cops investigate, hopefully they will find it.
