Tags and memes.
I want to point out something I noticed for a few weeks now, but had no idea how I was even involved in it.
It was some sort of mommy/daddy/parenting list meme thingy, and I was somehow on the list.
Apparently, as the list went around, you had to copy the list as it was, and then add no more than 5 of your fave above typed bloggers to the list, and pass it on to someone else.
I kept seeing this list thing show up on all kinds of blogs when I looked at my stats.
There I was, on the list, but had no idea who added me and when.
I wasn't about to do the list because well, it's just rude to tag someone for a meme or list and not tell them.
The person could have posted in my comments, "Hey look! I added you to the list! Can you do it and pass it on?"
Or an email stating the same.
Whenever I get tagged and have to tag someone, I always post in their comments or shoot them an email letting them know.
No one told me, so I didn't do it.
Was that rude?
I don't really care if it was, I was added and not informed of my supposed to do duties.
*shrug*
So my dearest fellow bloggers, when doing any kind of meme tag, let the tagged people know they have been tagged.
This kind of stuff is part of the reason I don't tag people very often. Another reason is I never know who likes memes and tags and who doesn't.
Take for example the desert island tag meme that went around this week. I was tagged, notified I was tagged, and did it.
I didn't tag anyone at all, I did leave it open for any of the people on that list to do if they wanted. I didn't tell them they had been tagged, because they weren't really tagged.
But if you tag me and let me know I've been tagged, I will definitely do the meme.
Think I said meme and tag enough in this post?

How weird. When I got that meme, you were already on it. I also got a comment on my blog letting me know too.

I've found a couple in the last few weeks where someone tagged me and never told me. Twice I've been put on those never-ending blog lists and not given a coded list. I really don't have time to code a list of sixty people I don't even know, kwim? Anyone doing a z-list type meme should send their coded list on to the next participants.
I've made it a habit lately to ask each individual first if they'd like to participate. Then I do my post naming folks that I know are interested. A hint if you're looking for folks to tag: ask a few newbies! You might have to explain how it works and how it can provide some link value. My experience is that the newbies are thrilled to be recognized and always jump at the chance.

I personally like memes if they're clever, well-written, and unusual. For the most part, memes are riddled with spelling mistakes and juvenile subject matter, which irks me. Because I am a snob, OK?
Also, some of them are just too me-me-me for me.
Do ya think I said meme and me enough?

I don't always tell people I've tagged because I really don't care whether they do it or not, yk? Though, with that in mind, I don't generally tag anyone unless I get "yelled" at.

Speaking of....you tagged me for a meme and I totally forgot to do it. It's that song lyrics one. I knew I'd have to really think on it, and so I put it away for another day. Well, I didn't forget, I just still don't have a clue when I am going to get it done.
