Crazy Hip Blog Mamas #28
This weeks topic is:
"What’s your dream job? (Other than Motherhood)".
My dream job growing up was to be a radio dj. Seriously. *laughs* But radio is mostly automated now, and the parts that aren't are mostly talk shows or morning shows. Plus they have bought play lists now. Ick.
I actually hate todays radio stations because of the play lists.
They play what music execs pay for, play our group or band, we'll pay you well.
I want a radio station that plays what they want, takes real requests, not just if it's on the bought and paid for list, real requests from listeners.
Ok, so that's what my dream job would be.

I totally agree with you. There are 3 stations out here now that I boycott because they only play commercial, highest bidder crap. well, the music is usually good.... It's just that if you don't pay them, they don't play you. There are a couple local stations that really focus on local SMALL bands though and they get most of my listening time now.

I wanted to be a Marching Band Director. I wanted to major in music. Well.. that didn't happen but both of my kids are interested in music and that's good enough for me;)

I used to work in an independent radio station and I loved every minute of it. I completely forgot how much I enjoyed it until I read your post. I agree with the previous comment -- find an independent community station. That's the way to go!
