It sounded so life like at first.
I was right in the middle of this truly bizarre dream about vampires and tattoos, when the phone rang at 9am.
I scrambled to get my wits about me, whip off the covers, try not to fall on my way out of my room due to a cat or two, sleeping right where I need to walk, on the cold terrazzo floor of the hallway.
I grabbed the phone to hear a woman's voice ask if I was me.
I said yes, how can I help you?
Then an automated message played.
*grrr*
I hung up.
I don't care who it was from, what they were selling or needed money for, that is some serious bullshit.
The voice asking if I was me, sounded like a real person. Maybe it was. Maybe that's how they are doing things now.
Get real people to actually make the call, then have them switch over to the automated message.
Maybe companies realized most people just hung up, or were abusive to telemarketers in general, so they found a way to spare them from being verbally chewed out.
It's more annoying this way.
Much more annoying.
And it takes away all my fun of screaming into the phone.
