Perks for being a good blogger.
I'm not sure if this is tacky to discuss or not, but I'm sure there are many other bloggers who do get some freebies from time to time, promotional materials I guess you would call them.
Over the last several years of blogging, I have received seventeen different books, all free, to read and post my thoughts on.
I love to read and I love to share great books with people who love to read.
I have received free t-shirts, free pens and notebooks, free mouse pads and small stuff like that.
I have received some free health related items like hand lotions, make-up, antibacterial ointments, free hair color, all full size products, simply for agreeing to discuss my genuine, honest opinions of the products when I am done with them.
I have also gotten some fun items like board games, DVD's, CD's, movie tickets, and even a video game for the teens to play.
I have no idea how these companies found me or why they picked me to send things to, but I enjoy the products and the ability to promote an item and get something for it.
Blogging is a full time job, I treat it as a real job. I put far more than eight hours a day into it though.
I'm always working on my blog in one way or another, from replying to comments, leaving comments for others, networking, link exchanging, being an active member of forums for bloggers, and reading and learning from other bloggers.
So dedicate yourself to your blog if you want to be taken seriously. Work at it as though you're making millions from it.
Someday, you just might.

Hey, I'm just sayin', there are other ways of being compensated for being a good blogger.
In a way, I'm saying thanks to all of those companies that send me stuff.

I'm just curious, how does this work? Do they e-mail you and ask for your address?

Yup. That's all that's ever happened. I don't contact them, they contact me.
I got an email from a medical supply company yesterday, that's what made me remember to write this.
They said they had a product they think would be exciting for my readers to learn about, and could they send me the product to try and then write about. They wanted honest opinions too. They said if I hate it, write that, like it, write that.
So I said ok, sounds good, and gave them my address.

That's awesome! I do as much as I possibly can with my time constraints, but I think I am getting better at managing my time.
'Fake it till you make it' is my motto :)
