Power napping.

If you suffer insomnia like I do, and most people don't get enough sleep at night anyway, power napping may help you.
The object of the power nap is to not sleep too long, twenty to thirty minutes is all you really need to feel refreshed and energized to be able to keep going.
When should you take it?
Sometime between lunch and dinner.
If you sleep longer than thirty minutes, up to an hour, your body will produce sleep inertia, that groggy feeling, makes it hard to concentrate.
The site above has all kinds of useful tips for getting a power nap while at work so your job isn't put in jeopardy.
They give tips on where you should nap at work like, in your office or conference room, or in the library or book store. I can fall asleep so easy at the book store. It's so quiet in there.
Our local mall actually has rest areas all over the place now with massaging recliners, they actually encourage you to take breaks and even fall asleep.
I'm not the kind of person who can sleep in a car, I need to see where I'm going all the time, even if it's not moving, but the site suggests if you can't get away with a nap in your office, take a nap in your car during your lunch break.
Hey, as long as you set an alarm of some sort, go for it, I personally love naps.

Mike actually does that *napping in the car at lunch* thing. He tends to get sleepy after he eats, but doesn't want his boss to see him sleeping at his desk. He is in a cube, not his own office. He'll park the car on the other side of the building, where the boss can't see him out the window. He has an alarm on his watch, so he won't sleep all afternoon in the car.

Works for him!

DAD AND I TAKE A NAP EVERY AFTERNOON AT 2. I WAKE UP READY TO GO AGAIN. SOMETIMES I JUST SIT AND RELAX AND NOT SLEEP AND THAT WORKS TOO.

I love a good nap, too.

Unfortunately, because I work from home, my naps tend to be 3-4 hours long. But this never stops me from getting to sleep at a regular hour each night!

What's cool is that more companies are recognizing the benefits of the power nap and actually have nap rooms for their employees. A power nap helps staff be more productive...

I agree. I come home most days just ready to keel over by 2 pm. So I sleep from about 2:45-3:15 or so when the husband comes home. Lately it hasn't made me stay up all night, but despite my better nighttime sleep patterns, I still have to have my power nap during the day.
