Grrr. Why can't they be friendlier?
I'm all about the money saving, you know that.
I just got todays mail, and in it was a sale flier for Sweetbay, formerly known as Kash n' Karry, the unfriendly store, the badly designed store, the store that smells weird.
Not only are they having the most awesomest sale, but there was also a separate card stock paper coupon coupon that came in the mail.
For $10 off any purchase of $40.
I spend way over $40 buying groceries.
So, the combined awesome sale prices + the extra $10 off, ack! I may end going there because I have this compulsion to save money no matter what!
I hate their employees. They are so unfriendly, they never smile, or say hello, they just all look like this is the suckiest job they have ever had. They are not helpful either. You ask where something is in their poorly designed store, and they look at you like you have 5 heads and they simply can't be bothered.
Then, there's the whole weird smell thing going on in there.
It's like a combination of old, wet rotting carpet, and dead animals.
It's faint, you can barely smell it, but I always do. The kids say they can't smell it, but I know other people can. My neighbor says she smells it whenever we have gone there together, it just smells like the place is dirty.
I know the food is good, I would never buy anything that looked or smelled bad, (Yes, I actually smell packages of meat at the grocery store) but the smell definitely exists.
So, save money even though I hate the store, or spend a little more to be greeted and helped by happy employees in a clean smelling store?

Is it like a musty smell? Not that I smell anything, but I remember walking into a store and after about 15 minutes of browsing around, I had a headache. I mentioned this to my buddy and she said she had a headache too! She said the store smelled like mold, and it probably was moldy. We left as quickly as possible and after sitting outside for about 5 minutes, our headaches went away.
Yuck.
As for saving money... lol... you remind me of a little ditty rom sometimes sang when we were shopping and finding great prices: "Here I go, saving money, spending money I ain't got."

If I were you, I'd probably go into the stinky store to use the coupon, but be careful as to what you buy. I would personally be afraid to buy fresh meats and produce in a place like this, but packaged stuff would probably be okay. Maybe buy mostly toilet paper, cleaning stuff, frozen veggies, and such?
Ten bucks is ten bucks...I'd put up with the stink and the nasty employees to get $40 of stuff for $30. But I would only go there if I had that coupon.

I usually opt for the cleaner, better designed stores here (Kroger and Target) but there are just some things I have to get at HellMart. I suck at helping people with decisions like this.

The Sweetbay by my house is a whole lot better than what I have seen anywhere else. That's where I do most of my shopping. Sometimes I do go to Publix. It all depends on what's featured on the specials.

Maybe cuz they don't like your hair style...or that you voted for me as the worst bloggar! ha! Kidding...
At least I know if I drop to WalMart ..they are friendlier there...otherwise, the CEO will get a memo from me..being a collegue and a shareholder.
Talking of stinkiness..it reminds me of the local Halal butchers..which they always have this Pakistani stench of lamb that they can't get rid off. But that gives them the identity..cos the missus will know (heck even the guys are WalMart) that I've been to the Paki Shop again. Or the Bookies.
Best Wishes
