Please do not let him have those genes.
Before I go to start making our very late dinner, (I've had an interesting afternoon with a very angry Christian who said evolution was a nasty fairy tale, a neighbor talking trash about another neighbor, and I fired myself all up and wrote a scathing email to someone) I want to tell you about the genes.
See, on great grams side of the family, there are several very tall male members.
Uncle Howard, cousin Howard, (who is referred to as little Howard. Ha!) and uncle Stephen and uncle Aurthur.
Each of these men are well over 6'2", with little Howard coming in at close to 7feet.
Mark went to give me a hug today before they went to the store to buy themselves some sodas, and when he hugged me, we were both a bit shocked.
I swear to you, just last week, he was my exact height, 5'8".
Today he is definitely taller than me by at least 3 inches.
No freaking lie.
I almost shit myself.
I told him he better not be like little Howard, or he'd be off earning paychecks just to keep up with his growing height.
I'm actually quite worried about this.
I cannot keep up with how fast they are growing now, what if this is his big growth spurt, and he grows like the jolly green giant?
Ack!

Heh - my 12 year old is almost 6'2" - he grows at least an inch a month, I think. I am seriously worried right with you.

I am 5' 10", and have been that height since I was 14. I didn't grow any more after that, though.
But, at that age, all of the boys were much shorter, I remember. They didn't start growing until they were about 15 or so, and then they shot up like weeds, and were taller than me. So maybe that is what is happening with Mark right now. He is at the age where boys will have some serious growth spurts.
Hopefully, he will grow to a normal man height of about six feet, stay that way, and you won't have to worry too much.

Don't mention this to Jeff. He is so worried that he will not get any taller. He is taller than I am about an inch but I keep having to remind him that all the men in our family on both sides have been late bloomers and did not go through a growth spurt until they were out of high school. Jeff however has been growing consistantly he just hasn't had the spurt yet.

Hey, one of the best looking men I've ever seen is close to 7 ft tall...so I don't think there is anything wrong with being unusually tall :)
But yeah, those growth spurts can be expensive, I know!
