What was the first video you ever saw?

On Saturday night, a small group of us were sitting at a table outside, and one of the guys asked another, what was the first video you ever saw on Mtv (back when they actually played videos that is)?

John answered, The Dire Straits- Money for Nothing.
The questioner said the same thing.
They asked me.
Now, being that I am at least 10 years older than both of these guys, I said I watched Mtv begin, and somewhere either at my house or in my parents basement, or one of the upstairs closets of their house, is the entire first 24 hours of Mtv on 2 VHS tapes.
They said no way, like it was an impossibility, then asked what was that first video that ever played.

I said, "the Mtv logo began. The changing patterns of the Mtv in all the colors, and the moon guy, then 'Video Killed the Radio Star' came on."
One of the guys didn't believe me, I told him to go home and look it up.
The video wasn't that great, but it was truly the perfect song for the start of Mtv. From that day forward, music would never be the same.
If you turn on Mtv now, you barely see music videos at all, and if you do, it's the same 10-20 played on repeat all day long during their "shows".

So what was the first video you ever saw, and how old were you?

Mtv will be 26 years old on July 30th this year, I was 11 years old when this video changed the way we heard music.

P.S.
Adam Curry still looks the same as he did 26 years ago when Mtv started. He just wears glasses now. *wink*

Video Killed the Radio Star was the first for me, too.

I remember being one of the first houses on the street to get cable and Mtv was included in the package. Video Killed the Radio Star was the first video that aired. I think I was about 10. You are right about Mtv changing... all they play now are reality shows(which I hate). I have yet to see them play videos like they did in the 80's. Such a shame.

I would have to say Money For Nothing as well. Still a great song.
