I feel bad for them. In a way.

Tonight I came across a documentary about guys who own Real Dolls.
I am not linking to them, you can do a simple Google search using exactly the term Real Dolls, and trust me, you'll know what this is about.
Warning though.
Do not go to that site with children in the room, or if you are opposed to um, what's the best way to say this? Different lifestyle choices?
Yeah, that works.

I watched the entire 46 minute and 53 second documentary. There is no nudity unless you count the dolls.
There is no sex or anything like super freaky deaky, unless of course you are totally like living in a box and have no idea what to expect about people who do things with dolls.

The documentary is called Guys and Dolls, and it was actually quite sad.
I felt bad for those guys who feel they are repulsive to real life human women, feel that real live human people treat them badly, use them, are not trustworthy etc.

It's an interesting look into the lives of the people who buy the dolls. How they look at it, how they feel about their dolls, about society.
They discuss how their families view them, other people etc.
It really was interesting to watch.
I do think the guys they profiled need some sort of therapy for sure though. They have become so wrapped up in this life with a doll, that they are totally missing out on real life experiences.
Life is about ups and downs, interactions with your fellow human beings, disappointment, sadness, loneliness, love and loss.

If you choose to watch it, and that is entirely up to you, let me know your thoughts on it.
What do you think of it? is it just plain old weird and creepy? Disturbing? Do these people need help?
Or is this how the creator and maker of the dolls says, "That some people use inserts in the soles of their shoes because they have problems with their feet, and it's totally normal. Some people have trouble in their social lives, and can't meet or talk to a real woman, fail at social interaction, and this is normal for them?"

Comments

I haven't watched the documentary, but I might. But I have seen the website that sells these things. And I noticed that you can get them in different "body types".

This kind of annoyed me. Most real women don't have perfect bodies like these dolls do. I feel that some of these guys are probably so shallow, that if they can't get a woman who looks like Pamela Anderson, they are better off with a doll that looks like her. As opposed to "settling" for a real woman who is not so perfectly shaped.

And I bet most of these guys are less than perfect in the looks department themselves. But they can't get a real woman because they have set the bar too high, and won't give an average looking woman a chance.

It's really sad. These guys are missing out on so much. But whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Oh, did you see that the make a guy doll now? I'll pass!

I keep meaning to respond, but keep getting side tracked. I reads this post the other day and finally watched the video yesterday. I opened a wordpad doc to jot down my thoughts as I watched. I will try to organize them and get them to ya for discussion!

Great, thanks. It was interesting wasn't it?
