Helping the girl friends.
A blogging friend of mine, Angie, had her blog suspended by her host. It wasn't a professional hosting company, it was a person who hosts other people on her account.
This is what happened to Angie;
I started my Girly Things blog as a sub-domain of someone who felt kind enough to provide a free account for me, but as I returned this afternoon for a long trip out of town for the funeral of my grandmother - I found that my account had been suspended for two weeks. Why, you ask? I had made mention of the possibility of giving my daughter a Benadryl during the long trip if she acted up. What I did not say in my other blog entry was that my pediatrician had actually suggested the Benadryl as an alternative to her daily non-drowsy allergy meds.....
Apparently, the gal who hosts my original Girly Things blogs felt I was advocating the drugging of children. It makes me wonder if she has a child, little less a nervous child with raging allergies.
I feel so bad for Angie, and this "host" should be downright ashamed of herself.
Nowhere in her ToS, does it say anything about the host having final say over editorial content.
I believe that if the people she is hosting still, knew what kind of person she is, and how much power and control she has, they wouldn't have their blogs there, they'd seek a professional host, someone who contacts you about ToS violations before removing your site.
But again, nowhere in the ToS of this site, does it say anything at all about the host approving, and approving of, a posts content.
Go visit Angie at Girly Things, bookmark her, feed her, blogroll her.
She most likely will never be allowed back into her blog, this isn't the first time this host has done this to one of her bloggers. She has just outright deleted other bloggers before without telling them too, a mistake she claims, and she never even tried to rectify the situation.
It is so very important if you are serious about your blogging, if you are trying to make an income from it, to get your own hosting and domain. Free hosts have often deleted bloggers for no good reason, so get your own, protect your content with a real ToS, by a real and reputable company.
I personally use ICDsoft, and have been with them for 4 years now.
They are an excellent company who has never done me wrong, and I'm often praising them to other bloggers for their outstanding customer service.

That is totally awful and unprofessional. With you being such an experienced blogger, hearing it from you really means something. Totally violates any kind of freedom of speech.
I have to say though, anyone who thinks that is totally horrible to give a kid Benadryl once in a while has never been on a car trip with a grumpy, overtired small child. No harm done, everyone is better off.

What kind of person would do something like that? Did she just go and delete the poor girl's blog and all her entries. Did she even get give her a chance to get her files off the server? What is wrong with people???

I am just disgusted by her host! What a crappy person - to think they need so much control in their lives, how sad and pathetic.
