I suck. Yup. Bad mom.
I was moving furniture around today, I decided I didn't like the living room anymore.
The teens did help with the big stuff, but I accidentally knocked over the xbox360, and there was a game in it, one of their fave games, Phantasy Star Universe.
When the xbox360 was restarted, it spun the disc.
It spun it bad.
This is what happens when a disc spins.
I know you can barely see it in the picture, click for bigger and look at the section I outlined.
Those spin marks go all the way around the whole disc.
It will not play the game, it says the disc is unreadable, and yes it is.
Those spin marks are severe damage to the discs game data.
Now I get to buy this game again.
*sigh*
Why am I buying it again?
It was a birthday present.
*double sigh*

i did that to guitar hero. got too into rocking out and the guitar pulled the PS2 off the shelf. it would load the game to the menu, then freeze when you made your selection. i took it back to best buy and exchanged for a new one. :)

Did you get the "Awww Mom" stare? I would've gotten the Death glare for days if I did that to one of the "boys" games. haha....

Do you guys have Game Crazy there? They have a machine that will fix that right up. It's hard to tell in the pic, but we've had some pretty bad ones they were able to repair, and I was SHOCKED. I thought they were toast for sure.

Kat,
Do you have your 360 on its side or horizontal? You'll want to have it horizontal so that the disc spins flat... this reduces the problem.
However, there IS a fix... Microsoft recently had to eat it and automatically extend by one full year the warranty of every 360 owner.
It's caused by bad alignment in the disc holder and can be fixed... but you have to send it in to Microsoft and be without it for a couple months.
Also, you'll want to check with Microsoft first... let them know the problem. Some systems they won't fix unless you get the "red ring of death."
They won't replace your game, but they can fix the 360 for free, even covering your shipping costs...

We had the red rings of death two months ago, and thanks to best buys extended warranty I bought when I got the 360, they replaced it for free. Then I just bought the new warranty from microsoft for $50.
We do keep it laying flat, (horizontal) but I was moving the furniture around today and had it upright for just a few minutes while plugging everything back in, and I hit it with my elbow and it tipped over.
I had no idea the disc was inside it, and so when the teens turned it on to play, the disc spun bad.
I don't know if you've ever heard a disc spin off the tray, but it's not a pretty sound.
I knew the disc was ruined as soon as I heard it.
