Still no CS hearing date scheduled.
Months ago, I filed for a child support modification hearing, in April to be exact.
I haven't heard squat from CS about the hearing, but at least I'm getting an increase in payments, and approximately every two weeks now, which is a major improvement over the $22.10 he was sending whenever he felt like sending it.
So over the last 10 weeks, I've gotten $202.70 in CS payments.
The first amount, the $55.99, is what I'm getting tomorrow. It was applied today, so it will be direct deposited tomorrow afternoon by 4pm.
It's just so frustrating.
I filed for a hearing to get this modified, they sent me a letter saying I would either have to appear before a judge in Maine, or do closed circuit from a courtroom here in Sarasota, and I would be receiving a letter in the mail with that information, and the date of the hearing within a few weeks.
I never got the letter.
I called CS, and they said the hearing had not been scheduled yet, that was in June when I called.
I called again at the beginning of August, same answer, it hasn't been scheduled yet.
Why did they tell me a few weeks, if it was really going to be months?
This system moves so damn slow, but at least the payments are getting better and more frequent.

Sorry to hear that your ex is being a deadbeat on CS. Divorce is unfortunate (though sometimes necessary) but what is tragic is when a divorcing spouse ends up emotionally divorcing himself (or herself, on rare occasions) from their children as well...

I just read your blog from last April. What did you ever see in that guy? Pricks like that shouldn't be allowed to procreate. If he can't take care of his children he is no man at all!! I hope you and the teens get what is legally owed to you and them.

Ohio CS is not much faster either. At least mine is done although It took 18 months to do it. The best advice to give you is to keep hounding them. The squeakiest wheel gets the attention!

Same with Illinois, very very slow. I've been pushing for a modification now for over a year. Yes a year. Because mine is a asshole as well, and when they only took a part of his income tax this year...oh he goes...oh well. Instead of giving it to me, that he was going to use it on his HoneyMoon. So up until 4 months ago, I sent an email to the main office in Springfield, now I am just waiting on a court date. He's begging me not to get it raised. I told him, my hands are tied. My medical will be cut if I don't comply. He's afraid of them modifying it too much. But I really don't care anymore, he hasn't paid me in such a long time, he owes me so much money. But yet, he feels he shouldn't have to pay a dime. If everything goes well with the modification, I will be getting triple the amount.....but only when he pays...jerk.
I sure hope yours gets raised too Kat, because its extremely hard raising not only one but two kids. And being teenagers...oh dear...sorry for the long post.

I have been dealing with Sarasota child support too, my daughters father lives in Ohio and it's been crazy, they did the hearing up there and didn't tell me, then when I had ZERO income they put in the peperwork that I made more than him and he had 2 high paying jobs! So he didn't have to pay me hardly anything, so I waited 3 years like they said and filed the same paperwork as you, back in April like you, and I haven't even recieved so much as a letter. Then, my son's father, he has been paying on time for 2 years now and suddenly they stopped for 3 months, they wanted to put a warrant out for his arrest (he lives in Sarasota too) he showed me his paycheck stubs, the money had been coming out the whole time so I took the stubs to CS and showed them and they said it had to be the payroll company, then one week later I recieved a $2000 check with an apology letter. It was their fault, the child support office had sent all my payments to someone named Angel Courtney-Lowery (I'm Angela Courtney) What gets me is they almost arrested my ex for it, Even he said he kinda wishes they had so he could sue the crap out olf them and maybe get the system changed a little bit for the better. The woman who recieved my checks doesn't even have to pay the money back even though they had my n ame and my exs on them and she should have known they weren't her, she doesn't have kids, which is why I don't understand how she was even in the system to recieve them. I thought her name was familiar, then I realized that a couple years ago, the police came to my home and tried to arrest me for prostituion and a burglary that had happened while I was in labor with my son, I finally convinced them it wasn't me and I had a 4 day old baby in my arms to prove it, but even now on the clerk of courts website right next to my couple of driving infractions is Angel Courtney-Lowery and her prostitution. So all I can say is that not only is the child support office mixed up but the police department can't even keep some things straight.
