Tomorrow is Halloween and if you're a parent and haven't already done so, now is the time to check your local or National Sex Offender Registry for the sexual predators and molesters in your neighborhood.
My sons are far too old for trick or treating anymore, but I still run the search every few months just to see who has moved into my neighborhood.
I just ran the search and it came back with the following results.
Radius 1.0 Mile
Offenders/Predators found 11
That's a 1 mile radius around my house. I can tell you that it's approximately 5 blocks in all directions.
11 of them.
The majority of them are on released supervision, which means they must check in and are being monitored by law enforcement.
You should check with your local law enforcement about the rules regarding the homes these people live in, and Halloween.
Here, no registered sexual offender is allowed to decorate, hand out candy, or even dress up and walk the neighborhood.
They are restricted to their homes, and may also not have porch lights on, which is traditionally an indicator that kids can knock or ring the bell to trick or treat.
Just to see, I ran another check and this time set the parameter to a 5 miles radius.
Radius 5.0 Miles
Offenders/Predators found 149
Wow.
That's far too many pervs near me.
Parents, if you haven't checked your neighborhood yet, please do it tonight or tomorrow before you take your children out.
Trick or treating can be so much fun, but you need to stay safe and stay away from the homes of resgistered sex offenders.
Check your neighborhood, make note of the addresses where they live, and don't go to those homes.

Once again thank you for looking out for our kids:) Actually we have not taken Katie Trick or Treating for a few years now. Instead the local Church holds a Fall Festival with games and treats and the parents get involved as well. It just seems the safest thing to do nowadays.

My goodness! I ran my address through that site, and I found out that there is a pervo who lives just around the corner. And I've actually seen this guy around. he hangs out at the Skeevy Corner Bar. You can't smoke inside of bars here, so I see him standing around outside, smoking.
I wonder if any of his buddies at the bar know that he's a pervo.
He is a child molester. And I'm always complaining about how parents here let little kids run around, unsupervised. Most of the kids I see running around here, I have no idea who their parents are. Unbelievable.
