Twenty bucks.
My time and inconvenience for the Walmart.com sucks situation is worth a $20 gift card.
"It will be a green card with a snowman on it ma'am."
Oh really? I am never shopping at any of your stores ever again, I was lied to, my order was 'lost', I spent 4 and a half hours on the phone trying to work out this order, and I'm not getting my item, and you think a green snowman gift card is going to make this all better?
"Ma'am, I can guarantee you the gift card will arrive on Monday, 12/24/07."
Wait, you can guarantee me that a gift card will get here on Monday that you just typed in, but you can't get a product that was ordered a week ago and you're still selling it on your site even though you don't have any, by the same day, Monday?
"No ma'am. We are trying to get more from our supplier, our hands are tied."
But you are still selling them on the site and offering 1 day shipping.
"Yes ma'am, we expect to have more by Monday."
Whatever, just cancel my damn order, clear my funds immediately, so I can attempt to get this somewhere else and pay through the nose for shipping because I will need it rushed now.
"Yes ma'am. The order is canceled, it could take 24 to 48 hours to update."
You are freaking kidding me?!
"No ma'am, it could take that long. But you will have your $20 gift card on Monday. Is there anything else I can help you with today?"
Hell no. I am never buying anything from walmart ever again. I'll give the damn gift card away because $20 isn't worth what I've been through, and I hate your company now.
"Sorry ma'am, is there anything else I can do for you?"
No. *click*
I hate them.
Hate.
HATE.

I work for a credit card company and Wal-Mart can definitely get the authorization hold removed immediately. They can call your bank and ask them to take it off and that's done right away. If they do it through their own system then it takes a day or two.

Or you may be able to speak with a supervisor at your cc company and explain the situation to them to get the authorization hold removed. We (the advisors on the phones at our bank) are allowed to do that sort of thing.

Wow. What a bunch of moronic asses. I'll definitely never order from the website, I can't say I won't shop in the brick & mortar store, it's all we have here. I sure hope they clear your funds soon and I'm sorry this has been such a nightmare.

"Is there anything else I can do for you today?"
Don't you just LOVE that pre-fab line uttered by every single company, especially when you have a complaint?
Or "Thank you for doing business with XXXX".... and you want to scream.
Electric Venom said recently that her one-click online shopping resulted in an unnacceptable delay. Maybe there's a lesson to be learned here.

Honestly? Only $20.00? That's ridiculous. Maybe you should call them back and insist that they pay the extra $65.oo that you have to spend to overnight the item.
It won't change your mind about Wal-Mart but it will ease the stress you are under.

I'd keep checking your credit card though it'll probably take 24 hours to clear off of it.
