Is a digital tv in my future?
By now, I'm sure most people know about the end of analog tv broadcasts in February 2009, and all signals will be digital.
I either need to buy a digital tv, or get the converter box.
I've already signed up for the $40 coupon the government is offering, but I'm thinking I should just get a digital tv and all the HDMI cables and other stuff I'm going to need for it, before that happens in a year from now.
I've been doing some comparison shopping, browsing Amazon, Circuit City, Best Buy etc, looking at, and watching the prices go up and down every week.
I'm also looking into the whole Blu-Ray issue.
See, most entertainment studios are already planning on releasing their dvds in Blu-Ray format only starting very, very soon, and now Warner Bros. is stating that they will be releasing their high-definition titles "exclusively" in the Blu-ray disc format beginning later this year.
That means my current dvd player is going to be pretty much useless.
Almost all the major studios have already made the switch, and will be making it exclusive by year's end.
The only studios who have not made this declaration are Universal and Paramount.
So not only do I have the whole digital tv issue to deal with, but now even renting movies is going to be on Blu-Ray soon, so I have quite a bit of electronics to upgrade by 2009.
I need to win the lotto just to watch tv and rent cheap movies from Netflix.
I like never go to the movies and refuse to pay for cable, so it's either buy all this stuff, or be really bored.
I love movies! I cannot go without my movies!
Damn digital and Blu-Ray! Damn you!

Yeah, and new tvs are not cheap like they used to be, either! I guess I'll be upgrading, too. I have been wanting to get us a bigger flat screen.
