It's finally fixed. I hope.

Verizon came out today and fiddled around for awhile, claimed that my house shorted out when the lightning struck. They never did climb the pole.
I thought for sure, the way things were going on Saturday night, that Shell would be packing her luggage by candle light on Sunday morning at 5:am.

It took FPL about 3.5 hours to fix the damage. They had to remove the blown transformer and install a brand new one.
They were in the back yard yelling all that time.
When the power came back on, certain appliances had completely blown out in some homes.
I lost my answering machine and my router.
Some things did short out, but that does not mean that their wires on that pole are fine, and they refuse to climb the pole and look.
I swear, if I have to go through hat I went through a few years ago, with having on/off service for months again while they tell me it's not their fault, I will seriously kill somebody.
When Verizon finally got around to checking that pole on their map, they found the grid had been blown.
But for months, they told me it was fine, that it was my computer and telephone that were broken and causing the problems.
They ended up giving me 4 months credit on my DSL bill back then, and if they have screwed it up again this time by refusing to climb the pole and look at those wires, they are going to be sorry.
I'll go to the media this time.

Lightning struck that pole. An FPL transformer is attached to it, along with Comcast cable lines, and Verizon phone lines.
They will not climb the pole and look.
I can almost guarantee you that the Verizon phone wires got melted or holes blown in them just like last time, but they won't even go look.
That's ignorant if you ask me.
They know what happened and will not even just go check it.
If I run into those same problems, they are going to have bigger problems.

And that's exactly why I do not have a house phone.. just my cell. A few years ago some construction was going on outside the building I lived in and they cut through the electric, phone and cable wires. You could see the electric company and cable company there... but no Verizon. I always had problems with them. I've used my cell as my only phone for the past 3 years.
