What was the point of them even going?

The boys just went back to school this past Monday after having 2 weeks off for Christmas vacation.
On Monday, they spent the entire day watching movies and reviewing for a single mid-term.
Tuesday, reviewed for 2 mid-terms, and watched movies.
Wednesday, nothing was scheduled at all, parents choice if the students went.
Today, Mark had nothing scheduled, did not have to go.
Sebastian had 1 mid-term, was home by 10:30am.
Tomorrow, Sebastian does not have to go to school, Mark has a single mid-term, will be home by 10am.

I don't understand why the school did this like this.
Back when I was in school, even if we had mid-terms, we had to stay the whole day in school, and our teachers actually taught us stuff. We didn't sit around watching movies and goofing off.
We were still in class being taught other things.
I don't understand why they spent time reviewing for a mid-term, then goofed off the rest of the day.
Why send kids home after the test, why tell them they don't have to come in because all they will do if they go, is watch movies.
What happened to educating students?
Why waste all this time?

Makes no sense to me, either. It seems to me that even during the school year, kids are out of school more than they're in it.

I'm getting very sick of paying taxes for a service we don't use (schools), if it's not useful to society as a whole. Schools are supposed to educate kids, teach then to be productive members of society and all. I have no issue with helping to pay for that, if that's the way they did things.

The way it is now, is ridiculous. Why are we paying taxes so that kids can sit in school and watch movies, and not learning anything? Unbelievable!

It really does seem nonsensical.
