Why does Verizon suck so much?
So my money gets direct deposited around midnight, it actually came in at about 12:20, so I get started paying the monthly household bills.
I go to FPL, no problem.
I go to the Sarasota County water company, no problem.
I go to Verizon, get an internal error, says try back in a few minutes.
I go to Virgin mobile, add some money to my phone, no problem.
I go back to Verizon, it lets me log in, click on pay bill, gives me another error.
I then go to Amazon, buy 2 more headsets
for the Xbox.
I go back to Verizon, it's still not loading. God damn, I just want to pay the freaking phone bill!
I go to a few forums, post in a few threads, go looking for 2 male bloggers to do the field study.
I go back to Verizon, still can't get in.
I browse around the web a bit more.
I go back to Verizon, it finally goes to my account, I click on pay the bill, and it has todays date, 01/09/2008.
I click pay the bill.
It boots me back to the pay bill page, and says I cannot make a payment for a future date.
What?
Today IS the 9th right?
I click back to view my bill, click pay my bill, it's now populated with the date 01/08/2008.
I click pay the bill.
It says I cannot make a payment in the past.
What the hell?!
I click view my bill, pay my bill, it still says 01/08/2008, click pay the bill.
It lets me pay the bill this time.
On 01/08/2008, yesterday, in the past, like it said I couldn't do.
Today is the 9th, right?
It took over 2 hours to pay the Verizon bill, but made me pay it in the past, yesterday, after it told me I couldn't pay it today, the 9th, because it was in the future, and it didn't want to let me pay it in the past, yesterday the 8th, but then it let me pay it in the past, yesterday the 8th.
Click for bigger.
I really hate Verizon.

OMG! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who always has major issues with the Verizon site! Ok, I already knew I wasn't because my sis-in-law is constantly bitching to me about it, too, but it's not just the two of us.
Half the time I give up and pay by phone because I get fed up trying to get the site to work.
I've learned never to try to activate a phone through the site either. I've tried that a few times to avoid the $20 fee to have it activated over the phone. Nope, doesn't work. I always get the message to call them b/c their's a problem, so I end up paying the $20 anyway.
Trust me. If Verizon wasn't the best cell phone service in our area I would totally ditch them. I try to tell myself I can deal with their incompetence to run a working website because everyone I know is Verizon, so all of my calls are free.

I use Verizon for my landline and DSL. I haven't had trouble paying my bills...when I can get logged in.
Last month when I went to pay my bill, they made me go through this new *security* crap. They were supposed to send an email with some confirmation link to click. Never got it, not even in the spam folder.
Went to log in to pay the current bill, same crap, had to fill in this info again. Still no email as promised. Am I going to have to go through all of these screens every time I want to pay the lousy bill? This sucks. It's ridiculous how a company that provides internet service can't even make a floopin' website that works.
I only use them because the only other source for high-speed internet is Comcast cable, who is even more evil (and more expensive) than Verizon.
And don't even get me started on how evil their pre-paid wireless phone service is. You CAN'T get a decent phone at an affordable price with pre-pay, they try to make you sign a contract. They suck.

Companies would stop sucking if they weren't the only option for services in some areas. If they had to compete for customers, they'd do much, much better.
I do love having my cell service through them.....but they have lots of competition for that.
