Why do they need a 4 day weekend?
The boys have a 4 day weekend.
It sucks.
It's been non-stop video games since Thursday night.
Frankly, I'm tired of the blip blip, the beep beep, and the other various sound effects.
Why do they have a 4 day weekend?
Well Friday was a teachers professional day, and Monday is Presidents day.
What I don't get is why school is closed for presidents day, but every other place is open.
I have a doctors appointment for massage therapy on Monday, and if the docs can go to work, why can't the schools be open?
There are no parades that I know of, stores are open, etc, so why do the kids need the day off?
Shouldn't they be in school learning about the presidents, for example?
So because I'm cranky and tired, I've declared today a no video game day.
They have to find other ways to amuse themselves.
I just can't handle or deal with any more sound effects today.

Here in Massachusetts, they have all of the coming week off. And then they get another week off in April. As well as six million professional days, half days, etc. I swear, it seems like that they are out of school more than in it.
When I was a kid, we got Christmas vacation, Easter vacation, summer, and that was pretty much it. None of this February vacation shit.

College isn't closed. They started adding in so many extra days off when they were trying to move to year-round schooling here and then those extra days just stuck...

Ha! I can relate. ... I just spent the last four days ~ Valentines Day, then Friday through Sunday ~ in isolation at the Children's Hospital. That meant four days straight holding a sick, crying preschooler with 24/7 children's TV, which meant SpongeBob. OMFG. I AM SO SICK OF CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMING. Then today, finally we're home.... and my son doesn't have school. But because my daughter is still sick we have spent all of today watching kid's movies. Whoever invented children's TV and video games needs to be thanked (for giving us time to ourselves of course) .... and then drug out into the street and kicked in the shins.
