Happy Mother's day '08!
Happy mother's day to my mom, and all the moms out there!
We moms have probably the hardest job that ever existed.
We are responsible for turning tiny little people at birth, into good, knowledgeable, and responsible people by the time they leave our homes when they've grown up.
According to a recent study, based on every thing a stay-at-home mother does, her salary would be about $117,000 per year.
The eighth annual survey calculated a mom's market value by studying pay levels for 10 job titles with duties that a typical mom performs, ranging from housekeeper and day-care center teacher to van driver, psychologist and chief executive officer.
While none of us moms actually get paid that amount (or anything even close to it) for all we do, it's probably the most rewarding job to have.
We get to constantly see our work progress right before our eyes.
The kids are growing and changing every single day, learning, becoming their own people.
In just the last few months, I've watched my sons grow in many different ways.
Not only have they physically sprung up like great oak trees and tower above me, but they are maturing, becoming smarter, becoming young men that I am so proud of.
Not saying there haven't been some seriously bumpy times along the way, but they are becoming some really cool and interesting people.
So to all the moms who stay at home, all the ones who work outside the home and raise their families, and especially to all the single moms who do the work of two parents all the time, have an awesome mother's day.
You all deserve sweet cards, flowers, breakfast in bed, and tons of hugs and kisses today.
But even if you don't get the material gifts, know that you are loved and thought of every day.
To your kids, you are the center of the universe, the one constant they have in their ever changing worlds as they grow.
Don't do any cleaning today, leave the laundry till later, and if there's no one to cook for you or take you out to dinner, order some take out, or cook you and the kiddo your favorite meal.
It's your day, enjoy it, have some fun, take some time to relax.
Happy mother's day all you awesome rockin' mamas!
