Just until we find his owners.

It's been a bit cold here at night the last few nights, and about 3-4 days ago when taking the trash out around 8pm, I heard this wicked loud meow from the bushes in the side yard.
I saw this bundle of white and orange fur come running from the bushes toward me, but it stopped before reaching me.
I went inside and had Mark get a small bowl of cat food and another bowl of water, and we set them out and called to the cat.
We backed up a few paces and let it come eat.
It scarfed down the food and practically drowned itself drinking the water.

I have been feeding it every day since, and tonight, it let me pet him, and then it started rubbing all over my legs and Mark's legs too.
Seeing as how it was going to be cold again tonight, we brought him in the house.
At first, I thought it was a female, that's what I told Christine in my email a few hours ago anyway, but nope, it is a gorgeous, long-haired, fluffy, and soft-as-a-bunny, male cat.

Feeding him outside.

He made himself right at home on my living room sofa laying on Sebastian's big quilt. (Formerly my big quilt, but Sebastian pilfered it)

He is quite the lover, he absolutely loves people, loves to be on laps, loves to be pet, loves to cuddle right up against people, so when Sebastian laid down and took a quick nap, he just cuddled right up between the couch and Sebastian's arm pit, and went to sleep too.

He then found his way to my room and jumped up on my bed and dozed off with Nova, who isn't quite sure what to think of him, but at least she's not hissing and being all pissed off like Kali and Shahiro are about this new feline in their home.

We are going to be on the lookout for posters on telephone poles and the windows of the corner store, I'm going to print a few out myself and hang them up, and hopefully the owner will be found.
I really can't afford to keep another cat, but for the time being, I cannot leave him outside in the cold at night.
The way he devoured the food and water those first few nights he was outside, tells me that he's been outside for at least a week with nothing to eat.
He's in good health, not emaciated, no fleas, but also no collar to tell us who his owner is, but somehow this beautiful cat got outside and is lost.
He smells like old lady, you know how old ladies smell right?
Well he smells like that, so I'm thinking that some old lady either accidentally let him out, died, or was rushed away by ambulance, and in the ensuing chaos, this lovable guy got out and got locked out.
He is such a sweet lover-boy kitty, someone loved him a lot, he just loves people so so much, so I know whoever owns him took care of him until he somehow got out and got lost.
I'm really thinking that his getting out was some sort of accident, and either the owner is in the hospital or dead, or maybe just away on Christmas vacation, who knows, and I'm going to do everything I can to find his owner, but in the meantime, he's going to stay here in the house where it's safe and warm, and he can get and give lots of good loving like he's obviously used to.

He is beautiful. You should take him to see if he is micro-chipped. Nice of you to love on him for a bit though. :O)

Merry Christmas~

You should send a pic of this kitty to as many local vets as you can find. The vet we go to keeps a book in the waiting room of "lost & found" pets. Also, a vet may recognize the kitty and know who his owner is. Call and ask if you can email them a picture, since getting around is difficult for you.

And Jen is right, the kitty might be microchipped. There must be someplace where you could take him to check at no charge to you. Maybe a Humane Society or something?

BTW, I'm not surprised *she* turned out to be a *he*. 75% of all orange cats are male. We thought Pumpkin was a girl at first, too, until we got a better look down there.

My goodness he is gorgeous! I'm glad he found you guys to look after him! If you don't find his owner, I have a feeling it wouldn't be too hard to find him a new home as well-mannered as he is.

Awww!!! Chris says he looks almost exactly like our Cuddles. Let me know if you want help tracking down the owner!

What a beautiful cat. I so wish I could have one. When Tony and I first met, I had quite a few and when we moved to NV we had to give them away. I would love another but Tony won't let me.

Aww, he IS adorable! I just love orange tabbies. And how funny, Sebastian's shirt says 'Rub my tummy...' and that appears to be exactly what the kitty is doing!

OH Kat he looks so at peace sleeping on Sebastian. You can definitely tell he was very loved. I hope you find his owners but in the meantime I know he is getting some sweet loving from you guys.

Ah, he's so beautiful! If I lived nearby I'd be swiping him. Seems so friendly and well-loved from the pictures alone. =^_^=

I think it's great you're giving him a safe and warm place to be Christmas and I really hope you find his owner soon. :)

how cute. I love cats and would probably have a houseful if my son weren't allergic to kitty fur. Good luck finding his owner.
