Queen of the Road- book review and blog contest tour!
I meant to post my review of this book yesterday, but I am still battling the trail end of the nasty flu I had, so I spent most of the day laying on the couch, my sincerest apologies for getting this blog tour contest post up a day late.
Queen of the Road: The True Tale of 47 States, 22,000 Miles, 200 Shoes, 2 Cats, 1 Poodle, a Husband, and a Bus with a Will of Its Own is a true story written by Doreen Orion about her and her husband's journey across the country in a converted bus.
They run into all kinds of issues like fire, flood, a robbery, and even a stop at a nudist RV park.
This book follows the true story of Doreen and her husband Tim's, journey across the country in a converted bus.
I have to hand it to her, no amount of prodding from a loved one could ever convince me to spend an entire year on a bus driving across the country.
I am not a camping type person at all, even if it has a bed and a toilet, the close confines would make me psychotic by day 3.
I liked how every chapter starts off with a cocktail recipe which tied into the story you were about to read, I thought that was very clever.
I also very much enjoyed that she included a bit of history about some of the stops they made.
I really enjoyed the part about the nudist RV park, it was hilarious, and I could totally relate because I've had the opportunity to stay at a nudist resort once, and I chuckled at how she described it because I too had those same experiences and thoughts.
The tour is about far more than Tim's inner nerd wanting to do this, it shows Doreen what is really important in her life, that spending time with loved ones is what is really important.
It's not the gadgets, clothes, and shoes, it's the time we have to share with others that is the most important.
I thought this book was a great, fast and fun read, and I think that if you love to read, that you will absolutely love reading this tale of traveling and what's most important.
I want to thank the Family Review Network for including me in this blog book tour, I really enjoyed the book and reading the reviews of the other bloggers participating.

I would so do it. I've often read about people who drive all over the country in one summer, and hit every single major league ballpark at least once. I'd probably want to hit some minor league parks, too. And in the wintertime, they have winter league ball in warm places like Arizona. We'd be hitting Florida in February/March, about the time when Red Sox spring training is getting started.
It would also be fun to see other stuff besides ballparks, of course.
I have to read this book now. I'm especially curious as to how they managed with pets

It sounds like fun, but I'm not sure I could take being in such close quarters with my hubby for that long. I'd give it a try though!
