I'm on my way to New York at 3:30pm!!!
Like holy fucking shit!!!
I was watching the Today show this morning and these 2 guys who worked together at a furniture store in Maine, found out that they were brothers, both adopted by different families.
Then about a week after the brothers knew they were brothers, their sister who they didn't know they even had a sister, saw the news story on tv, and she went to their work at the furniture store to meet them.
This morning on the Today show, Randy, Gary, and Joanne told their story.
Meredith Viera (sp?) asked about another sister that they have never met and were still looking for, Joanne said yes, her birth name was Claire Marie, she would be about 39 years old.
That's me.
I'm Claire Marie.
I'm the sister they are searching for, and the Today Show is flying me and my youngest son to New York tonight to meet my sister and brothers, and be on the Today Show tomorrow morning.
I knew the second I saw Joanne sitting on the couch, I knew who she was.
We went to high school together, had a study hall, lunch, and gym class together.
At one point during those high school years, my sister Jo and I talked to Joanne, we asked her if she had a sister, her last name is my birth last name, she said no, but that's because she didn't know that she even had a sister back then.
But Joanne and I are identical, we look even more alike now than we did back in school.
Watch the video, if it doesn't load that one, click on the "Long lost siblings" video link.
That's my sister Joanne and my brothers that I never knew that I had, Gary and Randy.
I have a sister and brothers, I'm meeting them tomorrow morning on the Today show.

First of all I would like to commend you on finding your brothers. I went thru this when I was in foster care in the mid to late 1980's. There is one sister I hope to find someday. Thank you for sharing your story to the world on the Today show! It makes me want to look that much more.

HOLY SHIT! (I found you via akamonty). Congratulations! I have two brothers and a sister out there somewhere. My mom is looking for them. I'm not sure how I would react, but, after reading your story, I think I might just be excited. A little. Good luck on your trip and I hope the meeting is all you want it to be!

What wonderful news! I came here after reading an article on msnbc.com. I like your blog, and I am so happy for you! I can't imagine how it feels to suddenly know about three siblings. I also can't believe you knew her in high school! Did you go to high school in Maine?
Posted by: Jessica J. | September 22, 2009 5:39 PM
Wow, this is so weird. I accidently came across your blog about a month ago. It was interesting so I was following it now and then. Then reading a news article today on msn mentioned your web site. I couldnt believe your site was the same website I happened across. Good luck with your new family, I was a single mom for years and my daughter doesnt know who her paternal family is because her dad was adopted as a baby. One day she hopes to find them. Have fun tomorrow.

Hey there is another Brother, just to let you know. He is Randy and Gary's brother, they are my uncles. His name is George Pomroy. He spoke to someone at newscenter 6 and hoped to get patched through to the today show so he could say Hello. guess he is being left out of what should be 5 relatives. My heart is sad for him because we have searched our whole lives for everyone and you 4 found each other and he is left feeling like he did when he was in foster care. Hopefully someone will get the message and contact him. My number is 678-xxx-xxxx my name is Pamela Pomroy Bannon.

Hey Kat,
If you go back to your posts on March 27th, 2004; in one of the photos you posted there is a picture of one of the boys on the wall. It looks like there are a lot of similarities between this photo and the childhood photo of Joanne on the Today Show website!

What an absolutely amazing story that should make everyone believe. I watched the recording of your three siblings several times today and now to think they have found you, the missing link. (I have had tears each time I saw it today.) And to hear that you went to school together with your sis and even look alike adds more amazement. I can't wait to see you tomorrow. Congratulations to all of you...just in time for Thanksgiving.

I saw your siblings on The Today Show this morning and was saddened by the fact that they still had a sister out there somewhere that they had not found. Well CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I've never read your blog before but I was adopted and found my family 5 years ago - in my mid 30s. I'm now an adoptee rights advocate who believes that the discrimination against adoptees must end so that all of us can receive our original birth certificates. Congrats again, the segment this morning brought tears to my eyes - I hope you have a wonderful reunion!
