W00t! I won!

A little bit ago, I posted my entry to try and win a digital photo key chain from Today's Gizmos.com.

Well I just swung by her blog to check and see if the winners had been drawn yet, and using random.org to choose from all the entries, I was chosen as one of the 3 lucky winners!
Winning it is very cool, I've over loaded my cell phone with pictures of my kids and stuff, so this will be awesome!
It can hold up to 70 pictures, and you just add them to it using a usb cord.
What I didn't know about the contest, was that the winners would also get to add a small custom engraving to it.
Now to think of something to engrave on there.
Hrm....

Thanks again to Today's Gizmos for having this contest, and to Wholesale Keychain for providing the prizes and doing the custom engraving for the winners!

Hoppy birfday to woo.

Christine made a post about kid friendly restaurants and birthday parties for kids, and entitlement jerks.
Basically the dad was mad because the restaurant didn't offer his 3 year old son no free gift or cake at his birthday when they dined out.

I worked in many different restaurants when I was working outside the home, and I can tell you that not a single one ever gave anyone, kid or otherwise, a free gift or free cake, on their birthdays.
The cake was added to the bill, and it was usually just a slice of cake from our dessert menu unless someone called in advance to arrange for a whole cake for the entire group to have.
We would sing if asked, but most people didn't because it is publicly humiliating for both the birthday person and the restaurant staff who are forced to sing it.

That dad is a butthead.
He complained about the crappy meal, the bad drinks, the bad service, and yet he expected the restaurant to shower his 3 year old with a gift and free cake, as well as sing the damn happy song.
______________

But we did do this once, to Sebastian on his birthday, at our fave Chinese buffet here in town.
He was about 10 or 11, and my sis and I felt like embarrassing him.
We pre-arranged with the manager to bring a cake over at the end of our meal, a small Pepperidge Farm one we brought ourselves, and also to sing to him.
The entire staff who work there are Chinese with very heavy accents.

We finished our meal and Sebastian thinks that's it, when the whole wait staff comes over with his cake and like 100 candles on it.
It was like on fire, I thought for sure the smoke alarms in the place were going to go off.
We never asked for the candles, the staff did that on their own, but it made it even more funny to sis and I.
They get to the table, Sebastian is already mortified because of the flaming cake o' death, and they start singing.
"Hoppy birfday to woo, hoppy birfday to woo", all really thick Chinese accents, so thick you could barely understand any of the words to the classic birthday song.
Every patron of the restaurant is staring at our table, people are standing up to see, and how could you not see?
There were 20 wait staff all dressed in matching black pants and white shirts, singing very loudly, and a tiny cake with flames shooting off the candles.
People were laughing, some were singing along, and Mark is nearly pissing himself with laughter.
My sister and I have tears rolling down our cheeks because all we wanted was the cake brought over, and maybe like 2 waiters to sing, NOT the entire staff, and it was just so loud and so bright, we were losing it with laughter.
Sebastian's face was bright red, he was so embarrassed, but it was just awesomely funny.

We've never done that again, but we threaten it every time one of the teens have a birthday.
We always take them out on their day to where ever they want to go, and when we get there, we joke about how we tipped the waitress etc to bring a cake and sing.
Both teens usually get immediately red in the face, and ask like 100 times through the meal if we're kidding or not.
We usually hold out on the joke till the very end, when we finally tell them we were kidding, but watching them get nervous every time a waiter passes by our table is priceless.

Oh UPS, when will you get it right?

I'm not doing much today, just hanging out waiting on a delivery of a monitor for the teens pc that was supposed to be delivered on the 30th.
Why wasn't it?
Because once again, UPS screwed up my address when they entered it electronically into their computers and scanners.
A call was made, they supposedly fixed it, and it's supposed to be here today.
We'll see.

I also wanted to remind everyone about the two give-aways that are going on here.
2 copies of the Hot Latin Diet book, and a Mad Money DVD.
Entering to win is really easy, and anyone can enter!

Third round of questions.

Christine asked; "What is your most favorite recipe of all time? Post or link to it if you want to."

A. I love chicken, so pretty much any recipe that involves the bird is good to me, but if I had to choose just one, I would choose chicken cordon bleu, and this recipe with a white wine sauce is so so good.

Kimberly asked; "Which one of your cats have the best personality?"

A. Kali by far has the best personality.

Kali%20001.jpg

She is not only beautiful and soft, but she's loving and kind.
She loves everyone who comes in the house, she has to smell their hands, rub up against their legs, get them to pet her.
She loves to be loved.
She's also perfect at knowing when you're not so perfect, sick or sad.
She just instinctively comes to you and lays on you, licking at your hands, your face, purring and just loving on you until you drift off to sleep.

Tazdog asks; "If you could go anywhere on vacation, where would you go and why?"

A. I would love to travel to all the old world parts of Europe. I want to see all the castles and coliseums, the ruins, that kind of stuff.
Why?
I don't know really. I just love how old it all looks, it's broken down ruined appearance. To be able to walk in the same spots as people hundreds of years before me did.

Feel free to keep sending questions, I'm just sitting here surfing the net and watching Dateline.
And don't forget to enter to win either or both of my 2 give-aways!
Win the Hot Latin Diet book or the Mad Money DVD!

Free comic book day is tomorrow.

freecomicday.jpg

Tomorrow, May third, is Free Comic Book Day 2008.
You can use their store locater to find a participating comic book store near you.

Free Comic Book Day is a single day when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world, give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their stores.

Here's a list of the comics that will be given out tomorrow, and it includes a couple of small action figures too.
STAR WARS CMG MINIATURES-FCBD 2008 EDITION and HEROCLIX IRONMAN FIGURE
-FCBD 2008 EDITION.

Mark will be going out with George after they come home from my sister's house, but Sebastian and I will probably head down to our store and pick up the comics and the figures.
We've been joining in the fun for about 5 years now, and it gets kids into not only reading a bit more, but art as well.
Comics these days are so detailed and beautiful to look at, so even I find it a good time.

Coming out of it all.

I'm starting to feel like I'm coming out of my 'funk'.
I am still having moments where I'm just a ball of mush on the couch, but for the most part, I'm feeling better physically and emotionally.
This stuff comes in phases, fine for a long time, then bam! sunk in the throws of depression for a few weeks.
It will pass completely, I just have to wait it out.

The teens are well, they are going to my sister's house for the night to hang out and play WoW, play with the nieces, and in the morning, they will watch Susan at Tae Kwon Do, then come home.
I'll have the house to myself, the tv to myself, and it'll be nice.
I may even hop on GH or Rock Band and play all by myself with no interruptions.
I do love playing games, but the teens are usually telling me to push this button or that, do this, do that, and sorry y'all, but I'm old, it takes me a bit of time to learn how to play and if I'm getting "yelled at", I would rather just quit.

Don't forget about my 2 contests that I have going on this week.
The first is for 2 people to win a copy of the book the Hot Latin Diet, and the second is for the Mad Money DVD.
Entering is super easy, leave me a comment, post about the contest you want to enter on your blog.
No blog? Just leave me a comment on the post.
That's it!

Hello Kitty and a whiter shade of pale.

I won Joana's re-draw contest for a Hello Kitty wallet!
I was needing a new wallet anyway, my Badtz Maru wallet I bought about 9 years ago, is looking a little worn.
It was black suede, but now it's worn out in many spots.
The zipper pull is completely broken off, and it's dirty and faded.
Being suede, I can't exactly wash it.

So thanks Joana, I will rock out with my new Hello Kitty wallet!

On the local forums today, I know, I talk about it a lot, but it's such a fun and entertaining time waster.
Anyway, a thread was started about skin whitening.
Now in itself, it's not that interesting, you think Micheal Jackson skin whitening, but this was about whitening a certain part of the body.
The thread was complete with a video with a Swedish woman slathering on the bleach, and explaining the process.
It was fascinating because it was just so unexpected, and like wow, what kind of woman allowed herself to be videotaped getting that bleached? /shock

Over dinner tonight, we watched Hitman.
It was good, based off the game of course, but it was action packed, violent, and had a decent story.
It certainly didn't hurt that the main character, the hitman, was kinda hot.
Timothy Olyphant is much much hotter without hair.
Bald is hot, bald is good.

Old movie posters are worth big bucks.

When the teens were little and into all the Disney movies, I would go to the video rental store, and ask them for the original movie posters and cardboard stand ups they used for displays.
Most of the time, they'd say yes, write my name on the back of it, and when they were done with it, they'd call me up and tell me to come get it, or hold it until the next time I came in.

Most of the time I'd be there before they called, I have always been a big movie renter.
But anyway, I'd take the posters and buy some cheap frames, and hang them up all over the boy's room and along the hallways, the bathroom, and even some in the living room.
I'd often get my name written on the backs of the posters from movies I wanted as well, like this one.

heavymetal.jpg I wish I had saved all of those, but when I moved here I sold almost everything I owned at the yard sale of spectacular deals.
Seriously, I sold off my entire Stephen King book collection, for like $5, my foldout couch with an awesome mattress for $10, a 27" really nice tv for $15, my dinette set with table and 8 matching chairs for $20, all my kitchen stuff like blender, matching pots and pan set for about a buck a pan.
I had to sell everything that I wasn't taking with me because I needed the money.
But if I had saved all those posters, they'd be worth some serious bucks.
I can't believe how much the original posters are selling for these days.
I had the one I linked above and pictured to the left, got it free from the video store, and look at how much it's worth
Sometimes, I make really stupid choices.
D'oh!

Incoco Dry Nail Applique' part 2.

I just wanted to update this entry I wrote, on Incoco Dry nail Applique' polish.

As I said in my review, they were super easy to apply, match the right size, and I said I'd come back to let you know how long they really last.
They say they will last up to 14 days, and they are absolutely correct!
I probably could have gotten more than 14 days out of them if I didn't wash my dishes by hand.

Because I love these so much, and I want you to love them too, I'm giving away 1 package of these in the color Rose Tea, as pictured below.

This is a super duper, quickie fast give-a-way.
If you want this package, you need to leave a comment on this entry no later than 8pm tonight, EST.
I will then draw 1 lucky name, and will post the winner and request their mailing address.
In accordance with my privacy policy, your mailing address will only be used by me to send you this give-a-way.

You still also have until Friday night to enter both the Mad Money Swag give-a-way, and the Bed Bath and Beyond $25 gift card give-a-way. And don't forget, to get 2 entries on the gift card give-a-way, all you have to do is leave a comment on that entry, and write a post on your blog about the contest, and let me know.

Y'all just may want to add me to your feed reader or bookmark my blog.

Contest reminders and 2 more people needed.

First, I still need 2 more people for the skin lotion field study.
I tried to get a few male bloggers to sign up, only got 1 guy willing to test this lotion, the other guys were all like, "no, I don't use lotion, or no, that's for girls, or no, all lotions are greasy, I don't care what you say Kat."
I told them I actually use the lotion, it is NOT greasy, I swear it's not, and it is an awesome thing for skin. Those of you signed up for this study will absolutely love it.
So please, I just need 2 more people, male or female. Pretty please with sugar on the top?
**Got everyone I need, thank you!**

You still have plenty of time to enter the Bed Bath and Beyond $25 gift card give-a-way.
Entries will close on the 18th at 8pm EST.
That blog entry will NOT auto close, so yes, you can still post your entry comment in it.

Also, I am having another contest starting Monday the 14th, and it will run for just 4 short and fast days to the 18th at 5pm EST, with a winner being drawn at/or around 6pm EST, but absolutely no later than 7pm EST.

12 people needed for a field study.

I need 12 people, bloggers would be best, to do a 1 month field study of a skin care lotion.

I would need you to email me your address so I can mail the lotion to you, and then upon receiving, you would need to use it every day as a lotion and/or as a protective barrier lotion if you work with chemicals or outdoors etc etc.
We are looking for both men and women who suffer from dry skin or want to try it as protective lotion from chemicals, irritants, etc.. We are looking for their honest feedback.

Your address will not be sent to the company, only to me, I will ship the bottle of lotion to you.
You would then need to blog about your usage and progress, likes, dislikes, etc, for a 1 month period. Approximately 1 post per week.
You would also need to email the url links to the contact person at the company, so they can keep up with the field study.

If you are interested in doing this, please use the email link at the top of my sidebar, to email me your mailing address.
Please post in the subject line of the email "Skin lotion field study".

Thank you!

Another contest is coming at you!

I will be hosting another contest very soon, it will run from the 14th to the 18th.
Want a hint?
I'm sure you do, so here's a clue.

Mad Money opens on Friday January 18, 2008.

Bridget Cardigan (Diane Keaton) is shocked to learn that she is on the verge of losing her home and comfortable upper middle class lifestyle when her husband Don (Ted Danson) is downsized from his job. Armed only with a decades old English degree and years as a dedicated mother and corporate wife, Bridget is forced into the unfamiliar labor market with no job skills. Finally, she accepts the only position she can find, janitor at the Federal Reserve Bank.

The one-time suburban mom soon discovers she has more in common with her new co-workers than she thought. Bridget forges an unexpected bond with Nina (Queen Latifah), a hard-working single mom with two kids to raise, and Jackie (Katie Holmes), an exuberant free spirit with nothing to lose. Caught up in a system that underestimates their talents and keeps their dreams just out of reach, Bridget, Nina and Jackie set out to even the score.

After a lifetime of playing by the rules, the three devise a plan to smuggle soon-to-be destroyed currency out of the supposedly airtight Reserve. As the unlikely crime syndicate amasses piles of cash, it looks like they have pulled off the perfect crime until a minor misstep alerts the authorities. With more money than they know what to do with, the women are pushed to the limits of their ingenuity to stay one step ahead of the law!

Squeak squawk, throw another rock.

I have spent pretty much the whole day trying to rest and clear up these swollen tonsils.
I have been gargling every few hours with peroxide and hot water, hot water and salt, rinse, repeat, cold drinks.
If it doesn't clear in a few days or gets much worse, I'll see a doc about it, may need antibiotics for it.
Who knows.

If you have entered the BB&B contest, and not gotten an entry confirmation, please be assured I have gotten your entry, but have yet not had time to reply to all emails.

I wish other people could see the things they do and say, and step back a few paces before saying something they shouldn't.
I have a job I do because I was asked.
I sometimes vent my stress here, but I never say what it is that's going on, or who pissed me off, or name the job, nothing that could tell anyone anything that would let you know what is what.
The only people who know, are the people who go there.
Because I don't mention what my job is, who it is, what, names, links, nada, I would appreciate it immensely, if other people could keep my job at my job.
Do not come here and bring up things from there.
This is a personal blog, I vent, but I also know the limits of talking about work on a personal blog. I just don't do anything that names anyone or anything. I vent the stress I am sometimes placed under by people who do things in a combative way, and end up forcing me to do my job a little tougher.
I would never go to any of their personal blogs, and discuss work there.
If anyone truly has any issue with anything I do, they can email me. There is a link directly at the top of the sidebar, click it. I promise you it works.
Don't leave snarky comments about my job, on my personal blog.
It's unacceptable, and it shows a serious lack of maturity.
The whole thing was a bad situation, but I handled it by sticking to the points, and not stooping to the level that others chose to.
Don't come here and think that I'll allow it to continue like that on my personal blog.
It will not happen.

I'm going to go to bed, get up in the morning and head to Walgreen's to take care of my health, and then come back and take care of my contest entries, my home, and then go do my job again.
Later days.

Bed Bath and Beyond gift card give-a-way!

I almost forgot I had another give-a-way!
This give-a-way is for a $25 gift card to Bed Bath and Beyond.
There are over 800 stores in the United States, and gift cards are redeemable in-store or on-line.

bedbathbeyondgiftcard.jpg

To enter for your chance to get this gift card, you must be a US resident, (sorry Canadians, they don't have any stores there) and you must leave a comment on this entry with a valid email address.

You may also post about it on your blog for a second entry, and email me the link to your post about the give-a-way for entry verification.

If you are not a blogger and would still like to enter, just leave a comment on this post with a valid email address (I have to be able to contact you if you win).

If you win the gift card, you must be willing to give me your home mailing address so I can send it to you.

In accordance with my privacy policy, your name, email, and home address, will never be shared or sold, to any person or company. It is used solely for the purpose of mailing you the gift card.

This give-a-way will run from today, Friday January 4, 2008, to Friday January 18, 2008 at 8pm EST.
On Saturday January 19, 2008, at 10am EST, all the names will be placed in a bowl and a winner will be drawn on video.
I will then email the winner to get their full name and mailing address.
----------------------------------

I absolutely love Bed Bath and Beyond.
They have an amazing kitchen and cookware department that I could just wander around in all day long. I covet some of their cookware and appliances.
They also have an awesome bedding department, (I have several huge and comfy pillows and a beautiful bed spread I bought from them) and they carry just about every single thing you need to totally decorate every room of your house with quality products at reasonable prices.
I hope you love their store as much as I do, and would love to get this gift card.

Digital converter box coupon program starts.

I almost forgot!
The digital converter box coupon program for the February 2009 deadline for the end of analog tv broadcast signals, began today.
If your home does not subscribe to cable or satellite tv broadcasting, you can apply for a $40 off coupon for the digital converter box.
Each home can apply for up to 2 converter boxes.
All analog broadcast signals will end in February 2009, your options are to buy a digital tv, subscribe to a digital provider, or get a converter box.
The converter boxes will start going on sale by February or March of this year, 2008.

I do not have enough money to buy a digital tv, and I can't afford cable, so I just applied for the coupon for the converter box.
If you're like me, then now is the time to apply for your converter box coupons.

That was crazy of me.

To think that going to the shopping pavilion so late in the day, was somehow going to be less busy.
Not!
The whole place was absolutely packed, every store, the whole parking lot, the sidewalks around it were just flowing over with people and kids.
Lots and lots of screaming, misbehaving children.
I had a headache within the first 10 minutes being there.

But I made my way into EB Games, got the game the boys wanted, and Mark bought Gears Of War again.
With his own money.
I told the both of them, if it breaks again, they'll be buying it with their own money again.
They get it finally.
Mom is not the video game replacer. If I buy it the first time, I'm not buying it a second time I they break it.

We then went into Publix and got some stuff we needed and an easy dinner, some more conditioner for my hair, and then came home.
I'm going to eat my chicken strips and watch the rest of the news, and then wrap the last bit of presents for the boys.
Oh yeah, there will be another gift card give-a-way coming soon.
A different store.
A good one.
That's all the hints you get.

Later days.

Walmart sucks gift card give-a-way!

As I said in this post, when the green snowman $20 gift card from Walmart arrived, I would be giving it away.
It has arrived!

walmartsucksgiftcard.jpg

If you want this gift card and are a US resident, please leave your name and a valid email address in the comments of this post only.
I will accept comments for 24 hours, so at 2:17pm tomorrow, Saturday December 22nd, I will close the comments, put all the names in a bowl and pick one name out to receive this gift card.
If you win, you will need to give me your mailing address.
I promise in accordance with my privacy policy, to not give away or sell your name, email address, or mailing address, to any other person or party.

I meant what I said.
Walmart will never get another penny from me, not even the ones they give me, so this is your chance to snag this $20 gift card if you shop at Walmart.
I despise Walmart for what they put me through, and the way they ruin pretty much any community they move into.
Mom and pop stores go out of business, the employees are paid minimum wage, treated poorly, and the products are made by people in extremely poor countries for slave wages.
I may have shopped there in the past because I don't have much money and needed cheap items, but enough is enough.
I can't ever justify spending more money on a company that treats it's customer and employees so poorly, and sells products made by slave wage labor.
For facts about Walmart's practices, check out Wake up Walmart.

Walmart confusion.

*I placed the order on 12/12/07, Wednesday, at 10:30am EST, paid for 1 day shipping, should have arrived on 12/14/07.

*On 12/14/07, it did not arrive.

*Carol the supervisor guaranteed me it would arrive on Monday 12/17/07.

*Carol the supervisor, refunds my $36 shipping charges.

*On 12/17/07, Monday, the computer did not arrive.

*On 12/17/07, Carol the supervisor guarantees me it will arrive by Christmas.

*On 12/18/07, Tuesday, they 'lost' my order, had to investigate. No clue on when I would actually get it.

*12/18/07, Walmart corporate guarantees me that someone from their corporate offices would call me in a few days. No one has called.

*On 12/19/07, Wednesday, at 4am, they said they had none in stock, to call and cancel it.

*I called at 6am CT, and canceled it.

*At 7:18am CT, they sent confirmation of my cancellation.

*At 7:25am CT, they sent confirmation that the green snowman gift card that was on it's way.

*At 4pm EST, the UPS guy delivers the canceled computer.

*At 6:01pm EST, Walmart.com sends a confirmation email stating the now canceled order has shipped. Includes a tracking number. It says it has shipped on 12/19/07, will arrive on 12/20/07.

*On 12/20/07 at 4:16am EST, Walmart.com sends a tracking number for the green snowman gift card (that will be given away on this blog) for UPS that says I will get it today.

*On 12/20/07, they finally take the payment from my CC, in the amount of $390.10. The original CC hold was for $421.10, they refunded $31.00 of the $36.00 1 day expedited shipping charges because it never shipped like I paid for.

*On 12/20/07, the Walmart.com order history page, says the now canceled computer will arrive on 12/20/07.

*The UPS website confirms it was delivered on 12/19/07. It states that it was shipped on 12/18/07, at 8:56pm CT, the day before I canceled it because they said they had none in stock.

If I called and canceled it at 6am CT on 12/19/07, and they confirmed it was canceled at 7:18am CT, why did they send a confirmation at 6:01pm EST, stating it had shipped that day?
If they actually shipped it on 12/18/07, how come when I called at 6am CT on 12/19/07 to cancel it, did they not know it had shipped?
Why did they tell me they had none in stock and were not going to ship, here have a gift card, when they had actually shipped it the day before?

Yes, I am very, very happy I got it, thrilled I actually got it at all after all this crap they put me through, but why tell me they didn't have any, let me cancel the order, when they had already shipped it?
They sent the shipping confirmation 2 hours after UPS dropped it off, and said I would get it today.
I don't understand how they could make so many mistakes with this order.
I don't understand why they let me cancel an order that had shipped the day before.
Why didn't they know it had shipped?

The $20.00 green snowman gift card is supposed to arrive today.
I stand by what I said, that I will never shop at a Walmart store or at Walmart.com again.
When the green snowman gift card arrives, I will take a picture of it and post it on this blog.
Anyone who wants it (US residents only, sorry) can post to the comments of that post with a valid email address. They will have 24 hours to post to those comments, after 24 hours, I will close the comments and put all the names in a bowl and draw 1 winner for the card.

October 25, 2007

It's finally ready to pick up.

I've had a prescription sitting in limbo since Sunday.
The doc had ordered the new sleeping pill, it was ready, then they said it wasn't ready because the dosage he wrote on the script, was a dangerous amount to take.
They had to fax him and wait for him to fax back.
Monday, not ready.
Tuesday, Wednesday, not ready.
Today, it's finally ready.
Yay!
Now maybe I'll actually get some sleep.
Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I am still waiting on the docs to coordinate those tests I need to get done.
The CT scan of the lower lumbar so they can see the broken screw, and the Idium scan of the white blood cells.
I'm not looking forward to either test, I am so over medical tests.
Have you ever had a CT scan of your lower back?
They inject this stuff into you that helps with the contrast of the image.
The stuff can make you very lightheaded, like you're so stoned, but one of the things they tell you when you do the test is that it will make you feel like you pee'd yourself.
Not that you need to pee, but it makes you feel like you have pee'd yourself.
It's the strangest thing ever, and the fact that they warn you that you will feel this way, is just odd.
To me anyway.

And also in health and beauty news, I really want to order a little black box.
These are boxes that go on sale monthly I guess, for about $26, and contain a freaking ton of samples from a ton of companies.
Just take a look at what is in this months little black box, which goes on sale tomorrow morning at 10am.
There's mineral makeup samples, candles, handmade jewelry, aromatherapy, bath salts and scrubs, tea, perfume oils, and the list goes on and on.
I seriously want to order one of those boxes!
I've heard from some other bloggers how absolutely fabulous these boxes are.
Lisa from Raspberry Patch Soapworks, is ordering her box tomorrow.
I want one!
Apparently, there's a soap and candle sampler box too.
I love candles and soap, but I really think I want the little black box more.

Giveaway, giveaway, giveaways.

I entered a contest last month to win some new Bose speakers, and the winner was supposed to be chosen this month, but now I can't recall or find the site the contest was on.
I forgot what date the drawing was going to be on.
i also forgot to bookmark the page, and I even went through my entire history, and cannot find the freaking site!

I know if I win, they will notify me by email, but I want to find that site again.
They had links to all sorts of other contests and giveaways all the time.
Things like dvds, cds, mp3 players, stuff like that, I really want to find it so I can enter more of the contests again.

Has anyone else entered a contest, would have been last month, to win a set of bose speakers?

Contests for moms giveaways!

Ok, I really want to win this one contest.
What is the prize?
One lucky winner will receive the HP Printing Mailbox & 3 months Presto.com service!

What does this thing do?
Do you have a family member or friend who is off line and doesn’t have a computer or email at home?
Do you have a grandparent to whom you would love to send emails and photos, but they don’t have a
computer or internet access? If so, then check out Presto – a cool new service that delivers emails, photos and other content to people who don’t use a computer.

This thing would be so kick ass!
I would totally send it to great gram if I won it.
Gram has no computer, wouldn't know how to use it if she had one. I could send her emails, pictures etc, with this thing.
This would be totally rocking.
Man, I hope I win it.
Gram would be able to get emails and pics from all her grandkids who live far away, it would be a breeze for every one to stay in touch with her.
You can check it out here.

Blank.

The other day I told you about getting Dr. Manny's book, The Checklist, in the mail.
Today on Rachel Ray, Dr. Manny will be a guest, so be sure to check that out if you're curious what the Checklist is all about. I can't find him listed as a guest on that show of hers, so maybe it's one of her cooking shows?
I am about 2 chapters in and it is a fascinating book. I'm learning so much.

Wanna see what I get to see and hear all day today?

I have absolutely no idea what exactly they are doing, but they were on the street all day yesterday too.
They've already walked across my lawn, checked out the teens basketball hoop which is by my front door, looked in my windows as they were looking at the hoop, they've thrown stuff all over my lawn. Not like tools of their trade either. Coffee cups from 7-11, wrappers from food.
If they keep trashing my lawn and getting too close to my personal belongings and looking in my windows, I'm gonna take pics of everything they are doing and call the city.
At least I think it's the city I should call. I have no idea. I don't see a single city logo on any vehicle.

October 8, 2006

I'm filing this under freebie.

A few months ago, I received in my snail mail, an application for a company called Shoppers Hotline.
It was a free deal, they send you small grocery scanner which plugs into your phone jack and what you do is your normal grocery shopping, come home and as you put your stuff away, scan all your items, then total it out and add in your total, click end, voila'.
It took awhile to hear anything back, about a month. I got a phone call from them just asking basic questions like was I still interested, what stores are in my area, which one do I shop at most etc. I answered them and said I was still interested.

Why was I interested you may be wondering?
They give away prizes and gift cards etc after you rack up so many shopping trip points.
In addition, once in a while you get surveys and by completing them and sending them in, you get a bunch of extra points.

*Now on to the best part. You get entered into contests, for hundreds or thousands of prizes and there are a lot of winners from the top down to about $20. Some are for great gifts like a big screen TV, remodeling your kitchen, etc. What do you have to do? Nothing, as a member and as long as your're scanning, you are automatically entered. You also get a monthly letter which tells you your pts., the winners and little recipe ideas.* Blatantly stole this description from epinions.com

I got my scanner and base, batteries, T-splitter for the phone, and instructions this week. I plugged it all in and it took 24-48 hours for their computer to talk to my scanner, but once it did, it really did work.
I had to go to the store yesterday for just 2 items, toilet paper and soda.
I came home, scanned the items, clicked end trip, total, entered $4.02 and then end. It saved the data and then last night, I heard it beep, it was transmitting the data to their computers.

This is kinda cool. You all know how much I love paid surveys and stuff like that, so this was right up my alley. Either I, or the boys, go to the store a few times a week. Each trip is counted separately so the more you shop, the more points you earn. And it's not just grocery stores, it's department stores, gas, it has a listing for dollar stores, pharmacies, discount stores, club stores like Sam's and Costco, and specialty stores.
Each shopping trip is counted as it's own so no matter where you shop, you can enter it in and rack up points and be entered for prizes.
And because your scanner is in nightly toll free contact with their computers, when your batteries run low, they know and send you new ones, absolutely free. There is no cost to join it or keep the scanner operating properly.

If you might be interested, click the link above and enter your zip code and if they are accepting users in your area, they will get in touch with you.
It's a totally legit freebie and hey, I might just get some cool prizes and gift cards out of the deal just for spending money I was already spending anyway.

Why kids should not be left alone on the internet reason 3,097

I had a program running on the 2nd pc so it wouldn't clog up this one. This one is mine and I hate it being clogged with crap.
So anyway, I had this program running on that one to get something I needed.
They had been outside almost all damn day.
5 minutes on that pc and he somehow manages to disable the TC/IP settings.
I tried for over 2 hours to get them back to what they were so my program would work and it simply won't go.
Internet is fine, overnet is disabled.
Grrr man.
I was 89% done with the program too.
Ugh. Grr. Arrggh.

Also, was given an Epson all in one because of it's constant paper jam issue even when there was no paper jam. Woman got fed up, just bought a new printer without the all in one stuff.
After about an hour, realized it's the paper feed assembly. It's broken. Going to take it apart tomorrow and see if it can be fixed. It would be very cool to have a second scanner/printer in the house.

So that was my boring day.
How was yours?

I have done nothing today.

After the kids left, my back was bugging so I went back to bed and stayed asleep until almost 1pm.
Oh well.
I must have needed it.
Sebastians home now and Mark stayed after school to do an extra grade test in science.
The kids had a choice to stay after and do the extra test to improve their scores so Mark and his friend Mikey are doing that now.
He'll be home later.
Sebastian is now playing Shrek 2 that he borrowed off a friend. Very cute game and good for small kids and even older ones. The boys both love it.

ex-roommate did the dishes for me while I was trying to wake up and work out my back kinks. Thanks ex-roommate. :)

I changed one of my skins out. I changed my ginger skin to a drawing by Kurt Halsey called "Moment". You can switch skins here.
I found him through Sporty because the dude is giving away 2 free ipods if you buy something through his store.
I figured what the hell, I'll try and win one seeing as how with no credit card, you can't do the free ipod thing. And the little buttons I bought are cute. I picked the music set.
Sure it's engraved but who cares, it's a chance at a free ipod and I want one.
Well that's all from here for now.
Later days.

Hurricane blogging will resume next weekend.

Like maybe 6 months ago, I posted a link to a free music mag subscription. I had completely forgotten about it. It showed up the other day but because that stupid Frances was here, I forgot to tell you about it. Asleep By Dawn Music & Lifestyle Magazine is a hard core and gothic music mag. It has interviews, stuff for sale, music reviews, articles etc etc. And a free Cd.
I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet because I'm just sorta pooped and can't really concentrate on anything more than the wah wahs that that are coming out of the stupid newscasters.
Will listen to it soon.
It's a quarterly mag so no wonder it took so long to start the subscription eh?
There's a lot of good bands on this cd though.
Skinny Puppy, Qntal, The Cruxshaows, Collide and so on.
With every mag, you get the free cd.
So if this is your type of music, go sign up for it and when it shows up 6 months from now, you'll be like oh yeah, cool!

Did I tell you I bug bombed the house for free?

A few weeks before the hurricane, I got an email invite from Lightspeed surveys about bugs.
I did the survey and then they emailed me and wanted to know if I'd be interested in bug bombing the house for free.
So I said yes and they snail mailed me the 3 bug bombs and the day before the hurricane, I had my doc appointment so I knew I'd be gone all day and the kids were at school and ex-roommate went with me so it was the perfect time to do it.
3 cans set up in the house and I turned them on and we left. (The cats were safely tucked away)
Came home and gadzooks! There were a ton of dead roaches, ants, spiders, some strange white bug I have never seen before etc.
I filled out the questionnaire and sent it back and then answered a few questions online about it.
Well, Lightspeed gave me a $5.00 Amazon gift cert for doing it plus, I bombed for free.
I know some people who used to do Lightspeed surveys stopped doing them because they changed the way they pay (you have to earn the credits now rather than just get a flat fee for every survey) but this was well worth it for me.
Paid and free bug death bombs!
I haven't seen any roaches or ants in the house since then either.

Weeeee!

So my freebie of Garnier hair-color showed up today and I'm doing it right now. It is definitely a full size product sample so keep trying to get one if you haven't already signed up. It's full size and legit freebie deal.
I will post a pic when it's all done and dry.

Mikey was here all day so the kids were hogging the pc to play Runescape.
All. Damn. Day.
I think I was on this morning to post and then for about 5 minutes to do something for Shell cuz she can't surf the net from work and then again just now.
There are too many of us trying to use this one net connection.
If anyone knows or has a cheap old router for sale, please let me know. ex-roommate would like to buy one so she can surf from her pc in her room and I can have mine out here.
Thanks.

Free Comic book day!!

It's that time of year again for free comic books! Check the FCBD Store Locater to find a store near you that is participating.
Last year was great fun. There were so many kids getting free comics from the store and the library was even giving some away.
A book is a book and if it gets kids to pick something up and read, it's a good thing.

Paying survey opportunity.

I received notice of a $125 paying survey for people who live in the following areas ONLY: greater New York City,
Philadelphia, Cincinnati, San Francisco and ANY suburbs of these cities.
If you live in one of those areas and would like the information, you must contact me by tonight as the survey begins tomorrow and you must log in two times a day for eight days, and it will take you about 30-60 minutes per day to participate. You can log in from any computer with an Internet connection, whether at work, home or elsewhere.
There is a very brief (5-10 minutes) online survey to see if you pre-qualify for the online journal project.
If you want this info, please email me at mysinglemomlife@NOSPAMmsn.com tonight to get the email with the link to the pre-qualifier.
I have done surveys for this company before and they always pay. This is a big payout for goofing off online anyway.
I would never recommend a survey if they weren't legit.
Moms in those areas, get in touch. $125!

Hurry!!

Hurry up and score a free sample of Garnier 100% color.
And if you don't make it in today, bookmark it and try again. I have no idea how many they give away each day but it's still open right now.
Good luck. :)

P.S. This is a free FULL size box of the haircolor, not a small sample bottle.
