Some more questions.

Karen in Az asked; "Curiosity is getting the best of me. I'm assuming you haven't been able
to drive for 7 years due to your back/spine issues? Is there hope now that you're on the way to being on the mend that you might be able to drive again someday?"

A. That would be correct. Due to the spinal stenosis and deformities that were happening before my surgery, I suffered some major nerve impingement. Most of the nerves and veins passing through to my legs were getting pinched off, my legs would lose feeling, and turn purple from lack of blood flow.
Things are better now, but there are still days I can't feel my feet, it's like all pins and needles mostly, or complete loss of feeling.
It is getting better, so we're hopeful that it heals 100% and then I can drive.

Amanda asked; "Kat when the boys were younger did they go to sleep on their own? My
son doesn't and he almost 4!"

A. Mark yes, Sebastian no. Mark would just fall asleep no problem. As long as he had his blankie and his Winnie the Pooh, he could fall asleep anywhere. He still can.
But Sebastian, no, he was always a struggle. I would either have to lay in bed with him and rub his head to soothe him to sleep, or lay on the floor right next to him and pretend I was sleeping.

Tazdog asked; "What were you 2 favorite movies of 2008?"

A. Well, this is still 2008, so um, I'm looking forward to seeing a few movies that are coming out. I haven't actually gone to see any movies so far this year.
The ones I am looking to see are Indiana Jones, Iron man, Wall-E, The Happening, Hancock, The Dark Knight, The X-Files- I Want To Believe, Midnight Meat Train, HP and the half blood Prince, The Day The Earth Stood Still, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Third round of questions.

Christine asked; "What is your most favorite recipe of all time? Post or link to it if you want to."

A. I love chicken, so pretty much any recipe that involves the bird is good to me, but if I had to choose just one, I would choose chicken cordon bleu, and this recipe with a white wine sauce is so so good.

Kimberly asked; "Which one of your cats have the best personality?"

A. Kali by far has the best personality.

Kali%20001.jpg

She is not only beautiful and soft, but she's loving and kind.
She loves everyone who comes in the house, she has to smell their hands, rub up against their legs, get them to pet her.
She loves to be loved.
She's also perfect at knowing when you're not so perfect, sick or sad.
She just instinctively comes to you and lays on you, licking at your hands, your face, purring and just loving on you until you drift off to sleep.

Tazdog asks; "If you could go anywhere on vacation, where would you go and why?"

A. I would love to travel to all the old world parts of Europe. I want to see all the castles and coliseums, the ruins, that kind of stuff.
Why?
I don't know really. I just love how old it all looks, it's broken down ruined appearance. To be able to walk in the same spots as people hundreds of years before me did.

2nd batch of questions.

Army Mom asked; "What is your most favorite thing you have gotten from blogging?"

A. My most fave thing from blogging, hrm. I have gotten a lot of items, things, and I love all of them, my SS engraved locket and the flat iron are my most fave items. But, the most favorite thing I've gotten from blogging is all the friends I've made over the years.

Tazdog asked; "Are you going tomorrow to get a free comic book?"

A. Probably. We go every year, but with Mark going out with his Big George, I'm not sure if Sebastian's going to want to go. They are at my sister's house for the night now, so I won't know till tomorrow morning.

Holly asked; "If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be, and what would you do with them?"

A. I'd love to meet Keanu, and oh, the things I would do with him.

First questions answered.

Tazdog asked; "What kind of car do you drive?"

A. I don't. I have not been able to drive a car for about 7 years now, but where I live is a decent bus system, so I haven't bought or driven since moving here 10 years ago.

Skeptic asked; "Do you Second Life?"

A. Nope I don't. I do however, play the Sims 2.

Christie asked; "If you had ONE wish, what would it be?"

A. 1? Just 1? Ugh. LOL
Um, I know money doesn't buy happiness, but it buys security, so I would wish for like $20 million or something.

Money, it's a hit.

Lucky for me when I started my jewelry making biz, I only needed less than $100 in business funding to get started, but other companies need a lot more.
And it has always baffled me why some companies sorta brag about how much venture capital they got.
I don't understand it, maybe they think it will make more people want to invest or sign up with them or something, I don't know.
I just know that reading a press release about a company that got "another $10 million in venture capital start-up funding", doesn't make me feel secure, it makes me feel like they won't make it without always having a back up source of funding.
I mean, I'm glad there are places out there where you can get money to start up your business, but I don't like it when companies brag about how much they got.

And I do hope to get back to my jewelry making soon. I even have new supplies that I just recently bought, and some new design ideas.
I just need to get my shoulder taken care of, and then it's a go.

My '65 Mustang rides along Every mile's another song

I came across this cool blog about cars, it's a Mustang blog, that's what they mostly talk about, and I do love American muscle cars.
I have always loved old Mustangs especially.
There's something about that car that when I see one, I just stop and stare.
It's a beautiful vehicle.

I saw my first Mustang when I was about 14.
My friend Jenny's dad, had an old '65 Mustang parked in the driveway.
He was fixing it up, restoring it.
Every payday, he'd go buy another part it needed, and he tried to only buy original parts.
He'd hit up junk yards, and specialty auto parts stores, and work on it all weekend long.
I remember when he finally got it finished, and then got the paint job done.
He got that silver blue paint, and he painstakingly taped over the chrome, and wiper blades, the windshield, and all the other parts, and then with a pressure painter, he gave that car 3 coats.
It looked so beautiful.
Then he put on two or three coats of wax, to keep it looking good.
He polished the chrome over and over, so much that when the sun shone down and hit it just right, the light bouncing off of it would blind you.

It was a gorgeous car.
He got in, slipped in the key, and it purred.
He looked over at Jenny and I, who always sat on the porch on those weekends and watched him work on it, hand him wrenches and other tools he needed, and bring him cups of lemonade, and he asked us if we wanted to go for a ride.
We looked at each other with our eyes huge, and then we flew off that porch in a split second, and raced into the front seat.
Oh it was nice.
He turned on the radio and tuned it into WBLM, Black Sabbath was playing, and he turned the volume knob all the way up.
He spared no expense rebuilding that car, and even though the radio itself was an original, he added some extra speakers and sub woofers, and Iron Man blared out, and we backed out of the driveway.

We drove down Fern Ave, took a left to head down to the main strip in downtown Old Orchard Beach, and Jenny and I could barely contain our excitement.
We were riding in one of the hottest cars, listening to some great music, and cruising the strip like all the cool high school kids did on the weekends.

I'll never forget that car.
Every time her dad needed to go to the store, he'd poke his head in Jenny's bedroom door and shake the keys.
We would thrown down whatever we were doing and race to the car.

Jenny always hoped that when she got her license, he'd let her drive it, but her dad got in an accident one night, hit by some stupid drunk driver, and the car was totaled.
Her dad had a few minor injuries, luckily, he was ok, but the car was a total loss.
It sustained far too much damage to the body for him to try and repair.

I still see a lot of old Mustangs on the road down here in Florida.
It's the perfect state to drive around in one.
Different years, makes and models.
And I still stop and stare.

It's a beautiful February day.

It's currently 52 degrees out, the sky is a gorgeous shade of blue, and people are dressed in sweatshirts.

beautifulfebruaryday.jpg

I got to massage therapy, and just as I thought, they all asked if I was cold, the therapist had warmed the table up, and I was all dude, turn the heat off man, this is gorgeous weather, enjoy it.
It's so hot here most of the year, that when days like this come along, let the chill do it's magic on you.
It makes you walk a bit faster, it puts a little color in your face, just take it and enjoy being outside in it.
I'm gonna find some lunch now and then get busy doing what I need to do.
Later days.

Sheryl Crow on rehabbing.

Sheryl%20Crow.jpg "I want to collaborate with Amy [Winehouse] because she's really hot and cool right now. I know one song Rehab, was very popular particularly because a lot of young people are in
alcohol rehab as well. In fact I'm thinking about going. It looks like loads of fun and I know my career will benefit from it."

She was quoted as saying the above during a recent intimate show in London.
Source.

The media is of course, blowing this comment out of proportion.
She was being sarcastic, humorous, funny.
I think it was quite funny myself.
Ha ha!
And before anyone thinks I'm making fun of people in rehab, no, I'm not, been there myself years ago.
I just love to see other celebs who have managed to rise above the obvious drug and alcohol parties, and other pitfalls of fame, slam it into the ones who do multiple stints in rehabs like it's the fun "in thing" to do, a way to boost attention to themselves and get even more famous.
Since when is being a drug addict cool ya know?

The media hype machines, love to get the stories of the stars going to rehabs, they post it every where on line, on the gossip tv shows, heck, I've even seen it mentioned on the nightly news.
Yes I'm glad they are getting help for their problems, but some of these young stars start to fall out of the press light, and it's like their managers come up with this great way to get them back in the lights and headlines.

"Hey! I got this great idea to get you more press coverage! Let's put you in rehab for a few weeks [insert name of falling star here]!"

"Oh hey! That totally worked for [insert name of recent rehab graduate star here]! Ok, let's do it! Get a photog to take my picture of me sitting in my car with a beer or staggering out of a nightclub! I can totally stagger if it means more money!"

Then they come out of rehab, and everyone says how proud they are that so and so is doing so much better, and a few weeks later, they are back to being a role model for today's youth.

No box removal for you!

That is a sticker from waste management, on the side of the box the NordicTrack came in.
It says they won't take the box.
I broke down all the cardboard the elliptical was packed in, and placed it in the box. There was no way it was going to fit in the small recycle bin.
But no, they won't take it.
I now have to place as much of the cardboard in the recycle bin as possible, every week until it's all gone.
I called them to come get it for a one time pick up, they said no, I had to break it all down and place it in the small recycle bin.
It's going to take about 3 weeks to get rid of all this cardboard.
I don't understand why they just couldn't take it.
Grr.

The crash on I-4 was carrying USPS mail.

There was a huge crash on I-4 in Polk County the other day, 4 people have died in the early morning 70 car pile up that was caused by early morning smoke and fog.

i4crashfire.jpg

One of the trucks involved and destroyed by fire in that crash, was carrying USPS mail.
It was mostly priority mail packages, and they have all been destroyed by the fire.
That mail was coming from southwest Florida, some of if from the Suncoast, and was headed to central Florida. Officials say all those packages were destroyed.
Destroyed packages may have come from zip codes starting with the numbers: 335, 336, 337, 338, 339, 341, 342 and 346.
To check the tracking of a priority mail package mailed on Tuesday to the central Florida or Miami area, visit the USPS website.

Adult bullies.

Have you ever had to work with people who are just nasty?
I don't mean nasty in a dirty, smelly way, or nasty in a dirty joke telling way, but nasty in a they are mean way.
I've worked with some people who believe they are above everyone else, that they know everything, they talk down to others, and feel they have every right to do this.

They go out of their way to tell you they've been doing the job longer than you, they know more about a subject than you, they can read better than you, just really snobby behavior.
I can't freaking stand it.
Know it alls, snobs, sarcastic, scathing. They claim they just tell it like it is, but what it really is is just mean.
It's like adult bullying.
Actually, I can't even call them adults because they don't behave like adults, they behave like playground bullies.

I try to keep a positive outlook on things, I rant and complain when I have to, just like everyone else, but I do try to keep the positivity flowing as best I can.
I don't know what it is about these kinds of people.
Even when they say mean things to me, I blow it off and stay positive.
I do think about it, but I don't dwell on it.
I was thinking about it just now, and so I figured I'd ask all of you, how do you handle adult bullies?
How do you deal with people who go out of their way to put others down?

Would I buy one? No!

One of the other things we saw on our walk today were the apartments up the street which are currently being touted as affordable, luxury condos for sale.
Just a few years ago, this apartment place was full of people, it's been pretty much empty for some time now, and the reason is the owners defaulted on like 10 years of property taxes and filed bankruptcy.

Some new people took it over and are trying to change them into condos to sell.
Well, they painted the outside of the buildings, installed a new swimming pool that no one has been allowed to use for 2 years, and planted flowers and trees.
They made the outside of these units look fabulous.
Driving by you'd think wow, very nice.
But take a look inside.

nov112007%20013.jpg

That's just one of the many empty units that squatters are living in now.
Just inside the window out of view was a leather couch with a blanket neatly folded on the end.
There was a pile of clothes neatly folded, and the trash can contains new food trash items.
Squatters are living in all those units.
We saw them peeking out from the corners of walls.
It's winter here, and cold on the streets at night, and hey, if there are empty apartments with rooms you can hide in with carpeting, a toilet to use, and even shower, the homeless are taking advantage of it.

The only things they don't have are electricity, cable and landline phone.
The apartments keep the main water on for all the units, even the empty ones, so people are living in there, sleeping on old couches, taking showers and even washing dishes they have.
We spotted about 10 units with living stuff in them, proof squatters are in there, and just biding their time until construction gets around to remodeling the unit they are in.
There are about 175 empty units right now.

Gps vehicle tracking helps.

There was a post on the local forums this morning about another one of those gps vehicle tracking success stories.
Push the button, it helps saves someones life.
I can't find the link for the thread now, it's been a busy posting morning over there, but it was about a mom who was having a heart attack and the little 3 year old unbuckled herself from her car seat, a 5-point harness, after her mom had pulled over into a parking lot and wasn't responding to the toddler, and the little girl knew to push the gps tracking system button on the car, and help was dispatched.
She was barely able to say what was wrong other than mommy wasn't awake, but it was enough to get help set immediately.

We live in such a technology filled age of computers and cell phones, and ways to reach out for help when we need it, and I think about the boys driving.
It's not enough to have a cell phone with them, what if they are unable to speak ya know?
What if their cell doesn't have enough power to give off the gps signal, or too far away from a tower?
A gps button in the car would work if they could push it.
Even if they would be unable to speak, the company who answers those would be able to locate the car and send police to at least investigate the situation.

I think it should be mandatory in all new vehicles and not come with a hefty subscription fee. It is the type of technology that can save a life ya know?

November 11, 2007

Get on the 12 foot ladder please.

I've had a lot of jobs over the years, some of them had some not so fun duties involved.
At Pier 1, I was the shipping and receiving manager, that basically involved unloading the trucks of goods three times a week, unpacking them, pricing, and putting them on teh sales floor.
But it also involved ordering all the stores supplies from pens and aprons, to making sure we had the correct commercial lighting bulbs on hand if a bulb blew out.
I also was in charge of the majority of electrical supplies too.
I did a lot of repairs, painting, and other odd jobs when I wasn't doing shipping and receiving.

The light bulbs were by far one of the most nerve wracking jobs.
The ceilings were about sixteen feet high, and our ladder was only twelve feet tall.
I hated having to get on that ladder, stand on the very top rung, use the special light bulb grabber tool, and remove the old light bulbs, then install the new ones.

I would get up there and have another employee holding the ladder at the bottom, and another employee taking the bulbs and also handing me the new bulbs.
It was so scary up there, and these weren't standard bulbs, they were those huge fluorescents and huge incandescents.
I was always afraid the bulb grabber would not get a good grip, and I'd drop one of those huge bulbs sixteen feet down to the hard floor, and smash into a million tiny pieces like light bulbs do when they break.
I was afraid someone would get cut by the flying glass, or a bulb would land on someone's head, and we'd get sued.
It was truly a nerve wracking job at times.
I dropped one of the big incandescents on the stockroom floor once, and it took me nearly three hours to clean up all the glass.
Then when we were changing the layout of the stockroom around, I found more tiny shards under the shelves, months later.
It's amazing how bulbs shatter and spread out like that.

October 23, 2007

So, women and whores.

I'm writing an article, not sure if I'll post it here, but I will be submitting it to a women's issue type magazine, hopefully for publication.

Anyway, this mornings internet discussion was about women who post pictures of their breasts on the internet.
Now, as a woman who has been taking pictures of my breasts and submitting them to the boobiethon every year since 2003, I was intrigued by what was being said.

A young man asked the following question; (please try not to cringe at the obvious lack of writing skills)

Ok, is posting pics of ur g/fs boobs on the internet (with her knowing and being 100% ok with it) whore-ish??
i think it is but some ppl tend to disagree

A woman, a very young woman at that, age 20, said this;
If the girl posts a pic of her own boobs on the internet - whore.
If the guy posts a pic of his girls boobs on the internet - disrespectful.

So I threw myself into the fray and said no, it's not whorish at all. If the woman is ok with posting her breasts on the internet, bare or covered, it's entirely her choice, and not a whorish thing to do.
I used my own example of participating in the boobiethon, and people were all no no, of course that's not whorish, that's for a good cause!
But wait, it's still breasts, and some people sent naked ones and others covered ones.
They still said no, it was for charity.
Hrm.
The conversation kept going, just what type of picture of breasts posted to the internet, decides if it's a whorish picture or not?
One of my issues with the entire thread was that women were calling other women whores.
Why would any woman say something that degrades another woman?
Why would they send out such a harsh judgment on their fellow sisters?

One reply was, it depended on what type of site the pictures were posted to.
Charity sites like the boobiethon, where the pictures are helping to raise money for a cause, were just fine.
But sites like rate my tits (not linked for obvious reasons) and myspace profiles, were very bad, and definitely the sign of a whore.

A single fellow woman stood up and asked the same question, "What the hell is with women calling other women whores? Can't they just be proud and sexually confident?"
No, sorry, they can't.
Several more very young women spoke up to say breast pictures on the internet were whorish.
Even women who themselves have pictures of their breasts in varying states of covered, posted on this very forum.

Such odd judgments coming down from some very self righteous gals doncha think?
Luckily we had some other level headed women step into the discussion.
"I think there are so many other factors that make a woman a whore, pictures of boobs doesn't even cut through the surface of that one."

By definition- Whore: a woman who engages in promiscuous sexual intercourse, usually for money; prostitute; harlot; strumpet.
But we still had women coming in and saying that it was tacky, without class, and flat out attention seeking. Then we had some really silly, laughable answers like this one; "Ummm, that is whorish, why would you want other people to see your boobs when you have a b/f...those are your b/f boobs only!!!" Well boy, am I glad to learn that once I get into a relationship, that my breasts suddenly become the property of the boyfriend. I'll keep that in mind.

More and more of these young women were saying how tacky it is to post pictures of your breasts, because they were for your partners eyes only, no reason to ever post that shit.

The hypocrisy taking place was absolutely incredible, so I reminded them of their very own boobie pictures posted right there on that very forum, in their profiles and in threads.
Pictures they had taken at events and get togethers, where lots of alcohol had flowed, cameras were every where, and fun was being had, and suddenly the tune changed.
Suddenly it was totally ok to post pictures like those ones because it was for fun, but bare breasts were still tacky. And whorish.
It was even worse if the boyfriend posted the picture with the girls consent, it seemed to show a ton of disrespect, and made the girl an even bigger whore.
Questions were asked about if the girl did it for money, on a web cam type of site, or if she just did it for attention.
There were 'moral ideas' for which way and type of site, a picture could be posted and not be whorish, and which way they would be.

All of this got me thinking about how women treat each other, how we do far more damage to each others self esteem and sexuality, than any man could ever do.
It's pretty bad when a man calls you a whore, but when your fellow women say it about you, it's said with the most malicious intent.
We truly mean it, we have decided that you are a whore, even if you're not, (definition) and that we don't like you.
We have been your judge, jury, and social executioner, based on a picture you post on the internet.
We decide that our drunken pictures are perfectly acceptable, that it's fine if it's done in the name of fun and good times.
But any other reason aside from that and charity, maybe an artistic reason is acceptable, but art is subjective, is definitely bad, and you are not a good woman in the eyes of other women.
You lack class, you're trashy and tacky.

I honestly can't figure out why women do this to each other though.
It's certainly not for competition of affection from men, these women all have men in their lives, in secure and committed relationships, yet they will put down another woman for a bunch of reasons.
It's been said that women are very catty creatures, and it's true.
The claws come out and they attack.
But what we say to each other, is what we say about ourselves, it affects all of us women, not just the woman we are labeling.
We do damage to women as a whole, when we continue to use those words against each other.
We choose how we react to things, and what the message of our reaction is going to be.
If posting a picture of your breasts on the internet is not something you would do, then don't do it.
But we can decide not to impose our morality on other women by calling them degrading names. We can say that we would never do it, and then just leave it alone.
I don't understand how or why, we would continue to encourage the use of such damaging words, when the action that has been done doesn't even come close to the actions set forth by the definition of the word we tossed out there.

Women and whores.

Great title huh?
I promise I will elaborate on it later, I have a great idea for an article thanks to the local forums this morning.
I'm still amazed how much women judge each other.
But right now, I need to go for my walk. I got sucked into that discussion and didn't want to leave.
The guess the movie post is coming up, it will just be running this afternoon and evening instead of morning. I have an awesome one picked out too.
Alrighty, I'm outta here for right now, will be back to elaborate and get the contest up.

October 3, 2007

It annoys me.

One thing that annoyed me today, probably annoyed me more because of the migraine, it's when people try to pass off a story as their own.
Ya know, plagiarize.
Seriously, just google this sentence without quotes;
"I had this idea that I was going to rope a deer", and see how many times it comes up.
Some bonehead posted that on a forum with no source link, meaning they tried to pass off that incredibly funny and well written story, as their own.
As soon as I read the first paragraph, I knew the guy posting it couldn't have possibly written it, so I googled that exact sentence.
People should never try to plagiarize in the age of Google. *wink*

Migraines seriously annoy me too.
I was just emailing with someone who has also noticed that highly potent pain meds, never ever, touch a migraine.
I find it totally weird that they don't, I know I've mentioned it before too, they just never touch them.
It usually takes downing some regular Tylenol or Excedrin, with a couple cans of caffeine laden beverages, to kill a migraine.
How come the pain meds don't work on migraines?
They work on every other body part, but not your migraine.
What the fuck is so special about a migraine, that a percoset won't kill it?

It also annoys me when people think things aren't fair, and start in with conspiracy theories.
I see it so much, and it annoys me.
So and so won a contest, it must be rigged, or the voting broken.
So and so got something I didn't, the people giving them out are playing favorites.
So and so got picked randomly for a prize drawing, it can't be random, the randomizer is broken or someone played favorites.
The first 100 people to signup will get something, but again, someone played favorites.
Seriously??

It also annoys me when people don't listen, don't pay attention.
Something super important was asked, no one answered, so they asked again, hoping someone in authority would answer, and of course, no one did.
The people that did answer though, obviously didn't really read the question, pay attention to what had been said, and pretty much attacked this person, calling them names.
Hello? It was a very legitimate thing, he just wanted to know why what he paid for, wasn't what he ended up with. It was sold to him with the promise of 1 thing, he paid for that 1 thing, and he ended up getting way less than what he paid for.
Sure, we all know how it works, but the sales pitch he got, obviously didn't explain it to him, assured him he'd get what he was asking for, and he didn't get it.
I'd be pretty pissed too.
Then I'd be pissed the official people weren't answering my questions.
But it's not really anything new with the place that sold it to him, it's par for the course actually.

Things just annoyed me today, and like I said, it was probably all due to the migraine.
I can usually laugh this stuff off, but today, it all got on my nerves and more.
Like the dumb bimbo who talks down to people all the time.
I restrained myself from calling her out, I did well considering, but man, it was on the tip of my fingers for a few hours.
It's so weird having conversations on the internet. People always tell you to ignore it, it's all behind the screen, but I know the bimbo in real life, it's not just some random forum full of strangers, I've actually met her and the majority of them, and her persona on line, is just like it is in real life.
That's the kicker.
That big bad ass attitude, isn't a fake e-attitude, it's really how she is.
She's just an ugly person inside and it shows on the outside.

Anyway, I suppose I ought to be getting to bed, attempt to get some sleep so I can get things done tomorrow.
Later days.

Side effects.

For a few months now, I've had someone working on something for me, something I couldn't do on my own, and one of things that ended up being given to me aside from the info I needed, was Phoenix real estate prices.

It was kinda cool to see the value of homes in a certain area, go from the buying price years and years ago, to incredible home values now.
One of the properties in question, had a buying price in the early 90's of just over $100,000, and it was now worth about $450,000.
I was quite shocked.
It helped me be able to decide whether or not to pursue what I was dealing with.
The issue has been resolved by myself and the party in question, but it was still really neat to see all those property facts and MLS listings for other homes in the area.

September 21, 2007

It's a gorgeous morning.

I plan to go on my walk shortly, after days of not being able to go for my daily walk, I need to get out and just stroll up the street and back.
Doc B never called me back, so I called Doc F this morning and talked to the nurse abut what happened.
She said it's not likely that the injection caused me to be sick, but because my immune system is so low, it's possible that just taking the injection caused me to get run down and have another run of gastroenteritis.
She said the blood tests from Doc B's office showed a super low white cell count again, which means I was already sick by the time I saw him.

Locally, there are some big news stories happening here.
Like this guy, Joseph Arsenault, I sorta know him.
No, not like that! But I used to go to the Beach Club downtown years ago, before the big remodel, and he was always there, buying rounds of drinks for people and stuff. He also used to shop at Pier 1 a lot.
Kinda freaky he was arrested for rape, and possibly being a serial rapist.

And there's no link to this one yet, but right around the corner from me, on the corner of Ashton and Swift, is a church youth group building, like literally a 7 minute walk from my front door, across from the post office.
Anyway, the youth group leader was arrested for having sex with a bunch of the teens that went there.
One girl claims it was a relationship, but he apparently he had sex with a LOT of the teens that went there.
As soon as there's a link, I'll update this post with it.
At the beginning of summer, they (the youth group) were going around leaving fliers for teens to join the group for the summer.
Stay off the streets! Come hang out in a safe environment!
Uh-huh.

And of course, there's $780 million, but none of it for the teachers.
Will we be repaving another parking lot?
How about planting a few more trees?
Are we ever going to finish building RHS? I mean, all that asbestos our kids are breathing in every day, can't be good ya know.
Maybe the school board will authorize a statue downtown for the cost of like $2 million or something.
Just give the teachers a raise please.

Ok, I am going to get ready for my walk now. I can't wait to get outside.

Today was a me day.

I just got done watching an old movie, Tuff Turf, and I remember how much I just loved Kim Richard's hair. It was beautiful, long, gorgeous.
James Spader was quite the hottie then too.
He still is. *fans self*

And then I checked my RSS feeds, and read something that just make me shake my head.
Kathy Griffin's speech at the Emmys, is said to be worse than what Imus did.
You can't be serious?
Oh, but I know they are.
Not everyone is a christian, not everyone believes in the father, son and holy ghost, and not everyone has to thank god.
And we're not sorry for offending you.
We've been offended by those speeches for years.
Oh but that's right, when we say our beliefs, we're persecuting you, personally.
My bad.
Go right on with your hatred of anyone who doesn't believe what you do.
Freedom of speech only works one way.
When everyone agrees with the religious right.
How quickly I forget.
Oh well, one less blog I have to try and keep up with.
Bye bye!

*EDIT*
Heh. I love the rational thinking.

I have an electronics need.

I want an on line bullshitotmeter, kinda like radar detectors, it would beep or flash, when you get an email that is obviously full of bs, and or snark and sarcasm.
You could actually use it on any website, so that you would know if someone was bs'ing you.

This past week has just been so full of crap, that it's almost impossible to determine if what's being said is the truth or not.
I hate lies and liars with a passion, and I've seen so much of it this week, I'm sick over it.

Should be a fun weekend for the boys.

Both of them have plans with their Big's this weekend to go do some fun stuff. Mark and George are going to see some RC airplanes and even fly a few around, and Sebastian and Jimi have plans to go bike riding and some other things.

Jimi is an awesome guy. He's been so busy working and training hard to become a fireman, and hold down his regular job, but he takes the time every other day to send Sebastian an email to catch up, ask how things are going, and to share stories with him about fireman training.
I love how dedicated and motivated this guy is.
Sebastian has a friend he can talk to any time, and the guy is a great role model, displaying great work ethics, drive, determination, and goals.
He's just been a super good influence on Sebastian in the short time they have now known each other, I couldn't be happier for Sebastian, and I'm just happy that he finally has a decent male role model and friend in his life.

I'm a mom, I do it all, but I can't be a male role model ya know?
I try to teach them to be good humans and do right, but having a real man show them the way, is so important.

I have a wicked headache, there is nothing more frustrating than going around and around over an issue.
What's so weird about it is, that all of these bloggers clearly understand the issue, that our blogs are ours, but the powers that be keep saying stupid stuff like no, it is yours, but we're just telling you what to do with all of the posts you write on your blog.
Duh.
That makes it not ours then doesn't it?

August 14, 2007

How was your Monday?

I have had a migraine the entire day, and I do mean the entire day.
Today was rotten pretty much from the get up and go point.
I woke up feeling sick, my entire body was in agony due to a t-storm we had early this evening, and people were generally just complete asshats all damn day long.

I'm still very upset at how an entire group of people were treated today.
Yes, we are independent contractors, we know damn well how expendable we are, but it would be nice if when speaking to us in the future, we could be spoken to with a little more respect.
If someone, or a small group of people, are doing things you don't like, address them, do not lump all of us in the same category, and accuse all of us of doing this thing you do not like.
I also do not like being lied to.
Honesty holds a big piece of the earned respect with me, so if you lie to me repeatedly, it chips away at how much respect I'm going to give you back.
And oh how I do love how it's thought that money can fix how we feel.
Just so you know, it can't.

But back to my migraine.
It's been with me all day, every noise has made it worse, every irritating problem has made it worse, and all I really wanted to do was lay down the whole day, and try to end how bad my head was hurting.
I'll be going to bed soon and hopefully it will be gone by morning so I can get back to taking care of the things that are really important to me.
But first, I need to at least attempt to catch up with all my reads.
The entire day was wasted dealing with bullshit and lies, and it shouldn't have ever gotten to that point to begin with.

Do you take the free gift?

As I was making the donations in the boys names, and for my parents, I was greeted with gift choices.
Thank you gifts for making my donation to the Montel Williams MS Foundation.
Dog tags, a cd, a t-shirt, or a catalog of paintings.

I chose no gift.
Sure, all the funding is underwritten by Montel, so the costs of these items and cost of shipping these items, comes out of the administrative funding, but it's money they can use elsewhere in finding a cure I thought.

In past donations I've made to other charities, I have taken the gift.
I've gotten t-shirts and cds before, I think one time I even got a t-shirt and a cd together.

Do you take the gifts when making donations?

EDIT*
If you sponsored me and have not gotten the email to now make your donation, this is what is posted on the Blogathon site;

Every year it happens. Doesn't matter how we send thousands of emails, just the act of doing so lands us in the spam heap for some folks. So please, be sure to check your spam folder for sponsor emails. They will say blogathon.org, and may also say cornerhost on them, as that's the server we sent from.

If you're email still isn't in there, just click the link I posted above and make your donation.
This wasn't about my own personal tally, it was about raising money for a good cause, so paying through the blogathon email link is not a huge deal to me. Just make your donations and we're all good.

I don't miss being a manager.

I do miss working, but I don't miss being a manager. I used to be a manager for both Pier 1 and PetSmart, and I worked with payroll software at both places.
I also was an assistant manager a few places where I had to work with it as well.
Pier1's was great, PetSmart, not so much.
It was a nightmare having to figure it out, they often were wrong by at least 20 hours on each persons hours.
I would manually have to go through 2 weeks of payroll hours, and update them in the software before submitting it to corporate.
Plenty of times, employees were paid out of the cash drawer.
My own paycheck? Came out of the cash drawer every 2 weeks from the date of my hire in November, until I finally quit in late February due to a multitude of problems including thefts by employees and managers, doors being left unlocked by employees even after I would check them to make sure they were locked, they would go back and unlock them so that pallets of dog food could be stolen over night by someone who had the security codes.

There was also a manager and an employee, who gave their own versions of employee discounts to friends.
Being the CSM, it was my job to figure out why all 10 cash drawers grand totals, would be off by hundreds of dollars.
There were missing CC receipts, wrong copies given back to customers which meant we wouldn't be able to legally charge customers cards, and cashiers who just outright never even scanned items for friends and family members.
It was probably one of the worst jobs I ever had because the thefts were so blatant.

I may be able to go now.

I just have to talk to one person, get it confirmed, and I'll be going.
I feel better now.
I just needed to be pissed, bummed, brain storm and go lay down and just chill for awhile.

Whenever I get stressed about something, I go lay down in my dark room, throw my head phones on, listen to some really loud obnoxious music, and just be completely still.
I end up being able to relax enough to think of an idea.
Hopefully, it will all work out.

I need to go take a shower, I'm all hot and sticky again.

I'm so totally wicked bummed out right now.

See, I have the opportunity to go to Orlando this Saturday, get paid $100, + get treated to lunch, + get to see a brand new application for a business, and I can't go.
I can't get there.
I was hoping that I could get a ride with someone, I offered $40.00 for gas, and nope, it's not gonna happen.
I was really looking forward to this.
Hell, my name is on the freaking list.

I'm like sitting here scheming up ways to get as close as possible. Like maybe go stay at a friends house in Tampa on Friday night, and maybe catch a ride with someone else who is going and lives in the Tampa area, but I doubt that will work.

I'm just bummed out ya know?
I can't wait to be able to drive. I can't wait till the restriction is lifted so I can just go where I want to, and fuck everybody else.
For $40.00, I can probably catch a Greyhound from SRQ to Orlando on Friday night, and then just hang out somewhere in Orlando till it's time for the thing to start. I'm sure I could occupy myself with things to do while there for a bunch of hours.
I may just do that, because this is something I want to do, I'm really interested in the app, want to meet these people I've been working for, have a bit of fun.
I'm not giving up on this yet, I just need to work out the logistics of the whole thing and plan it out.
I don't give up quite that easy when it's something I really want to do.

Anyone remember

the old Samsonite luggage commercials from the late 70's where they'd show the luggage being tossed around by baggage handlers at airports and stuff?
The Samsonite ones were the only ones that came off the baggage claim spinner looking ok. Every other piece of luggage was beat to hell.
I was looking on youtube this morning and came across an old commercial, but it was for a sale, it had a marching band marching over them, pushing them around.
I want the ones where they get put through the wringer and come out looking good.
Anyone know what commercials I'm talking about?

I'm not a fan of too many sports, I like hockey, but it's baseball season and that means fans trying to get their hands on some red sox tickets if they can.
I like the so, I used to listen to and watch the games with great gram whenever we were at her house.
Great gram is a huge sox fan, so one of the things I'd love to be able to do for her at some point, is get her tix to a game.
She's on up there in age, but she's still as feisty as ever, still driving, living on her own, awesome lady.
It'd be a cool gift to get her some tix to her fave team and have Uncle Jimmy take her to a game.
The two of them would have so much fun, and i know it'd be a dream come true for her to see them play live.

July 3, 2007

I'm too much ba-da da da ta da.

I know who I am, and who I am is someone that says what I'm thinking.
There are people who hate that about me and I've always known that.
I know what other bloggers whisper back and forth after I post something controversial, or ruffle some feathers.
I am not politically correct, never have been, see no need for it.

I took it upon myself tonight to tell a blogging friend something I felt she needed to know about her blog, how it's being viewed, not just by me.
People talk, we all know that. Blogging has it's gossip mills just like real life next door neighbors, shit gets around.
So instead of just letting it go 'round, I clued her in to how it all looks to her readers.
I ended my email by saying it was ok if she was angry at me for telling her, if she was upset with me for being honest, it was ok, I just felt she needed to know.

I expected one of two things would happen after I hit send.
One, telling me to shove it where the sun don't shine, or two, no reply at all.

What I got back was a thank you, and some honesty from her.
I'm quoting her because it's what I'm talking about here, the blogging gossip mill.

One thing I have learned from knowing you, Kat, is that you always tell it like it is, even if it isn't pleasant. Some people don't like that about you, they think you speak your mind too much.

I know I speak my mind too much for comfort, but it's my blog dammit...LOL
I know I speak it elsewhere too and that's ok with me.
But what I really hate more than anything is cowardice.
No, maybe not that word, maybe, maybe it's a lack of respect.
Yes, that's it right there.
If anyone has a problem with what I say or how I say it, say it to me.
At least say it to me first, then feel free to run around and tell anyone else that you feel needs to know what a huge bitch I am.
I don't mind if you do that, I am a bitch and I will never apologize for it.

Why is it when a woman is assertive and has an opinion, she's a total bitch who talks too much?
If a man speaks his mind, he's assertive and valued, but a woman speaks her mind, and she's this huge bitch who talks too much.

It doesn't bother me that people talk about me, as a matter of fact, it's quite nice. *laughs*
I have a twisted sense of humor about this stuff and I find it hilarious that people talk about how I talk too much.
Cracks me up.

But anyway, I'm glad that my friend understood what I was telling her, and she valued what I had to say. She thanked me for being honest, and even told me to kick her in the ass if I caught her doing that again.
So I'm not all bad, I'm not speaking my mind too much, I'm being honest and it's valued by those who can see past the bitch and see me for who I am.

I do have some personal life issues which I still need to fix, I need to remove toxic people from my life and I'm trying to do that in a positive way. I don't like hurting people.
I am working on being my usual honest self but in a friendlier way.
It's still going to be seen as being a total bitch, but not much I can do about any of that.
People often perceive us in ways we have no control over.
I can only be myself and hope that people take the time to know me, and not just sit in not so quiet judgment of me.
It's actually, quite loud.

Do you need assest accounting?

I was looking for software to make my bookkeeping easier for my paid adverts and my jewelry biz, I need to find a way to organize it all and make it easier to manage. I came across this company, and checked it out.
With fixed asset accounting you can find the errors that cause miscalculations and mostly go unnoticed.
This company helps you get your assets off of spreadsheets, and make your accounting as simple as possible.
It's probably not a good fit for a company with less than 200 assets, but anything over that, this software can help you out a great deal, and increases your productivity.

It's obviously not or me, but I thought it was pretty cool.

Hi-res pics of the buried Belvedere.

Thanks to the great staff over at JLAforums, I have a link to some really good, hi-res pictures of the total loss Belvedere.

You can view the hi-res pics of the Belvedere at the JLAforums.

jlabelvedere.jpg

I can't really explain my fascination with this car.
It's not the time capsule or it's contents for me, it's the car.
I just really wanted this car to be ok.
When I first heard the story of it being buried, I was so hopeful even though I knew that back in 1957, they knew nothing about protecting the car, heck, they left the battery in it.
Anyone who knows anything about cars, knows that you never let a car sit for great periods of time with the battery in it.
But still, I was hopeful that it would be alright when they dug her up.

When I watched the video of them opening the vault and saw all that water, I knew she was gone.
I love old cars, I love the shape they had, the giant fins, the huge, thin steering wheels, the spacious seats, the slanted side windows.
It would have been so cool if she had not sustained that much damage, maybe just a little rust. The winner being able to do a little work on her and drive her even if it was just once around the block, before removing her battery and sending her off to a museum.

It's funny to me how the Egyptians knew how to preserve things. Thousands of years after they buried gold and precious metals, when dug up and brushed, wiped down, look as good today as the day they went in, and this beautiful car couldn't last 50 years.
*sigh*

But the cool thing about this story is that the teens and I have had a few talks about her and time capsules in general.
They are starting to get interested in cool, classic cars, and talked about how they would bury something so that in 100 years, it would be good as new on the day it was opened.
All kinds of crazy ideas, solid steel vaults, pressurized, climate controlled, drainage grates just in case any water somehow seeped in, with a way to quickly flush the water out ,and dry the vault using some sort of vacuum drying system, all sensor controlled and operated.
If a single drop of water landed on the floor, a detection system would be alerted, the grates would open, and the suction begin, as well as air being forced into the vault to quickly dry it out. The grates would then close, the vault would then be re-pressurized etc.
They had a lot of cool ideas.

But anyway, if interested, check out the JLAfourms for the pics, and thanks to Bobby at JLAforums for alerting me to the forums and pics.
They have a lot of cool forums over there, so I might swing by and check them all out.
He said they have close to 8.5 million topics, as well as over 500,000 photos and 1600+ songs, movies and videos.

Belvedere a total rust.

Watching it live right now, the car, the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere, is completely rusted out, but the contents of the time capsule are in perfect condition.
The Schlitz beer from the trunk, had somehow made it's way through the car, all the way into the front seat. *hahahah*

It's just such an interesting story. I find it so fascinating to watch this.
The car really is rusted out completely, but all the contents of the capsule are in excellent condition including an American flag from 1957 when we only had 46 states in the union.
They found many more artifacts in the capsule than they actually knew were in there.
They found things inside the glove box, and the backseat, including tins containing film reels.
They have taken pictures of every thing as they took them out of the car, and I hope they put them on the website, buriedcar.com.
You can see the current photo album here at buriedcar.myphotoalbum.com.
I want to see them up close, but because it's a live event, they are going through them rather quickly.

Tulsa - The time capsule meant to withstand a nuclear attack and keep a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere in good condition for 50 years apparently didn't do such a good job. And, now many people are wondering if the same fate awaits another Tulsa time capsule that was put in the ground less than ten years ago.
A 300-thousand-dollar prototype of the 1998 Plymouth Prowler was buried in a time capsule at Centennial Park on 6th Street in January 1998 to commemorate Tulsa's 100th birthday. It is expected to be unearthed in 2048.
But, now that the 1957 time capsule has obviously succumbed to the pressures of Mother Nature, will its younger sister suffer the same fate? It's unlikely. The 1998 vault was made out of aluminum, not concrete like its predecessor. And, the specially-designed capsule is pressurized to make sure the car comes out in mint condition.
I wonder why they keep burying cars? I mean, time capsules are cool and all, but why a 300 hundred thousand dollar car? Not sure I'll be around in 2048, but it would be another cool car unearthing, especially since it's vault is much better deigned.

Buried car unearthed, will be uncovered live tonight.

The buried alive 1957 Plymouth Belvedere, was unearthed today at 1:30pm.
The car is still sealed in it's protective layers of plastic, of mud-caked protective material, that had been vacuum sealed.

Click for bigger.

Thursday afternoon, legendary hot rod builder Boyd Coddington inspected the vault and what he was able to see of the car with his crew.

The task will fall to Coddington, host of the TV series American Hot Rod on The Learning Channel, to try to start the thing up at a ceremony Thursday evening. Tens of thousands of tickets were sold for the event.

"We're optimistic,"' Coddington said. `"I'm really concerned about the rust on the bottom of the car"''
"The Buried Car & What's Inside" Friday evening at 7 o'clock. The unveiling can also be seen live, streaming on the internet at kotv.com.

If interested in watching the live unveiling, check out kotv.com tonight around 6pm EST, 7pm central time where they are.

I'll be watching, I'm dying to know how the car held up.

Buried car to be unveiled tonight.*

You will be able to watch them publicly unveil the car and it's contents tomorrow night on a Tulsa local news station website.

When the vault was opened yesterday, it was full of water.
The story of the car can be found here.

I am still hoping that the car is in ok condition. It was wrapped in several layers of plastic which was vacuum sealed as best they could do, and hopefully, the contents of the time capsule in the trunk held up ok.
It contained;
The contents of a women's purse, including bobby pins, a bottle of tranquilizers, cigarettes and an unpaid parking ticket, were added to the glove compartment of the car shortly before burial.

Other items included in the time capsule were:

* 10 gallons of gasoline and 5 quarts of oil
* A Douglas Aircraft Co. aerial map of airport facilities and legend
* Statement from Tulsa council of Churches and prayer for greatest good next 50 years a recently completed history of churches in Tulsa and a directory of the present churches
* Statement from board of education - historical data related to 50 years of education in Tulsa and copies of "School Life" all-high school publication issued by Tulsa high schools each month
* Statements from Mayor and Chamber of Commerce officials
* Flags which have been flown over the national capitol, state capitol and in the county and city
* Other aerial photos of the area
* Statement from Tulsa Trades and Labor Council
* Statements from all former mayors of the city - their record of service and civic accomplishments in the city, state and nationally.

It also has a $100 savings bond that has accrued in value since then.
I'll be watching tonight as I'm super curious to see how the car itself held up.
It would be so cool if it was in pretty good condition with only minor rust damage. I'm sure the engine block is fried, all that water, but maybe the body will be ok.

*I goofed up and thought today was Friday. Duh-er

Car buried alive in 1957.

A 1957 Plymouth Belvedere was buried on June 15th 1957, and is going to be unearthed on June 15th 2007, this Friday.

When the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere was buried, Tulsarama! organizers had a contest that would award the automobile to the person who guessed nearest to Tulsa's population in 2007. Guesses were microfilmed and are sealed in the vault.

After the car is unearthed, members of the JD Young Co. will process the guesses and the Tulsa World will publish them on this Web site. If the person who wins is not living, the award goes to the heirs, along with the proceeds from a $100 savings account.

countd2.jpg

"While some lucky person may (or may not) win a brand new 1957 Plymouth in the year 2007, the winner has several other prizes to look forward to, among them a $100 trust fund accruing interest until the year 2007. Included with the Plymouth is a 5 gallon can of gasoline, a jar of Oklahoma crude oil, and in the glovebox, fourteen bobby pins, a ladies compact plastic rain cap, several combs, a tube of lipstick, pack of gum, facial tissues $2.73 in bills and coins and a pack of cigarettes with matches - all items that might have been found in a woman's purse circa 1957,

The car's glove compartment contains two other interesting items: a parking ticket (unpaid!) and a boftle of tranquilizers. Depending an the Belvedere's condition, the tranquilizers may be the most important part of the package."

____________

This is really kind of cool. It will be interesting to see how the car has held up, and I hope they didn't leave the battery in it. *wink*

Things are sweeter in Tennessee

I don't get on vacations much, so when I saw that you could get a Pigeon Forge cabin rental, I kind of laughed. i had no idea it was a real place.
Ya know how you sometimes hear of these cute named places in movies and stuff? I had no idea that Pigeon Forge really existed and it was in Tennessee.
The place looks really nice, it's in the mountains, cute log cabins that look cozy.
It's near Gatlinburg and Dolly Wood is just 3 miles from there.
The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is just 5 miles down the road.
It actually looks like a nice place to take a vacation.
Quiet, away from every one, peaceful.
It's the type of quiet vacation I keep talking about with the boys.
Anyway, who knew Pigeon Forge was a real place?
Yeah, I'm a true yankee, I thought places named like this were made up.
*laughs*

Do you get your car detailed?

I was checking in on a local forum this morning, they actually have two forums, one for just chat stuff, the other for car and bike stuff. Sometimes the car stuff slips over on to the chat forum. This one guy was in the for sale forums, spamming it to death with his request for work. The forum has a classifieds section where you can sell stuff, buy, or work wanted or even job offers.
He posted a bunch of times that he does car detailing and has his own automotive detailing supplies, that you would just be paying him for the work. He says he does good work. People were giving him a hard time, mainly because he posted it so many times, but it's kinda funny to watch people get all crazy talking back to sellers and sometimes even the spam posters who create accounts.

Wow. Almost 6am?! What is wrong with me?!

Holy crap, I have been up all night again.
It feels like only a few minutes ago, I posted that last entry.
I have just been so busy and on a roll, I couldn't stop.
Too bad I never got to those emails.

You ever just have nothing at all to say,

but a whole lot to say?
That's how I feel today.
I feel like I have a ton of stuff I want to talk about, but I just don't feel like putting it all down.
I've probably started about 10 different entries today, and scrapped them all.
I just don't feel like getting into anything today.
I'm kind of annoyed, sort of pissed off, sort of just saying fuck it all who cares, and mostly just blah.
I actually just typed out this big thing, and then deleted it all.
See?
Lots to say but don't feel like putting it all down.
Blah.

Any legal people in the house?

Let's say, you've been blogging under your sites name, we'll use me for an example here, My Single Mom Life, for 10 years. You've owned the domain since late 2002.
What if you were planning on turning your blog into a book of the same name, and discovered that there is a book out there, not even released to the mass public yet, with your name.
What can you do?
Is the name yours?
Can you still publish your book under the name?

May 3, 2007

I waste a couple of hours every morning.

I sit here, going through blog feeds, reading message boards, checking emails, looking at stuff.
I spend a lot of that time thinking about all the various bits of things people write about
Why did so and so write that? Why do I write what I write?
Just weird thoughts.
I have been doing a lot of thinking about how people on line think it's ok to say something to someone because it's a computer screen, I doubt they'd speak to someone like that in person.
The other day, I was spoken to quite rudely by a man who owns a business that I sometimes do work for.
I immediately replied with my answer, and that it was not ok for him to speak to me like that.
I started getting private messages and emails from other people who saw the exchange, telling me how rude he was. That they too thought that was not ok to do.
No apology has been said, and it won't be.
Would he speak to me this way in person? I highly doubt it.
Would I say back to him in person what I did?
You betcha.

People are so damn phony on line, they would never have the courage to speak to someone else in the manner in which they type away on these boxes.
Since that exchange, there have been several other blogs that I comment on, who have said things like, 'when I saw how he spoke to Kat, I wanted to reach through the screen and slap him.'
I said at my age, I will never allow anyone to speak to me like that, ever, not ever by someone like him.
I got called the Norma Rae of blogging for standing up to him, plus my battle against cyber stalking, which is so not over. There's an army of bloggers sending emails to a lot of important people about that.
I'm actually drafting an email to someone whom I hope will do a much harder hitting piece than what GMA did.
But back to the rudeness that prompted this post.
I've never been a follower. The band can be marching down Main street, and I'll be headed up 7th Avenue.
I am not buying the hype. I'm not playing along kissing asses as I go.
There's nothing more disgusting than ass kissing.
It may very well be the fastest way to the top, it may get people all the attention they desire, but it's gross.
Day in, day out, I watch people kiss ass even after being completely fucked over.
There's a small handful of people who speak up and call bullshit, but most? *kissy kissy slurp*
You just got fucked. Where is your anger, your outrage?
Of course you can make the new plans work, we all can, but doesn't it matter to you at all that you just got fucked?
Is it not registering with you, that he insulted the crap out of you by saying he spent more money than you did?
Hello? It's not the fucking money. It's the time, the plans we all spent making, the effort we all put in.
Maybe some of you can take it lying down and smile after being totally screwed, but I watched him insult you and you took it.

No amount of money is ever worth being insulted for.

Maybe it's stuff like this, my ability to say exactly what I think regardless of what the outcome may be, (I could very well be banned from potential earnings) that I got another Thinking Blogger Award.
Thank you Sassy, I appreciate it.

When I first started working

I worked mostly as a customer service rep or cashier. Back then, we didn't have automatic check readers. All of our accounts receivable conversion, the processing of people's checks, was done manually.
We wrote down the license numbers on the checks, we verified the address and phone number, and circled the amount in it's number form, and verified that the written word for the amount, matched and was accurate, and then had a manager initial the checks. Then we just typed in the amount on the register, and entered check, and placed it in our cash tills.
I was never so happy in all the years I worked as a cashier, to see when that system got automated. It was such a time waster before.

I almost kept it.

The other day when we ordered chinese food I had to sign the receipt. The guy handed me his pen, it was one of the restaurants imprinted pens, with their logo on it.
I signed the receipt, handed him the slip, said thanks and closed the door.
A few minutes later, he knocked on the door wanting his pen back.
Dang it. It was cool too.
It had their name, some Chinese symbols, and a cool dragon on it.

May 1, 2007

I've been in my own head for most of the day.

Thinking about various things that bother me, but because I don't like upsetting people, I don't say anything.
I hate having my time wasted. That's like number one on my list of things to never do to me. Don't waste my time.
If I'm busy, I tell people as politely as possible, that I'm busy and need to go.
I get interrupted more times during the day than I should. And at night.
My phone rings at least once an hour, the same 2-3 people, needing something from me.
I talk nicely, I tell them I have to go, I have things to do, I'll get in touch later.
But within an hour, they are right back on my phone line, taking up more of my time with things I just don't have the time to help them with.
I call these people, the super needy.
They have to have attention from whoever they can get it from, and for some reason, it's me.
I've had a really long couple of days. I'm very, very tired, I just want to go to bed ya know?
I just want to sleep and then get up in the morning and take care of my business, my stuff that I need to do but haven't been able to do, because I've been interrupted time and again, and I'm about to blow.
I' hoping that by venting here, that when I wake up in the morning, I won't be half as stressed out and irritated as I am right now.
I have things I have to do.
I have work to complete.
I have my own housework that needs to be done.
I have my own phone calls to handle that I can't be tying up my line to chat.
I'm gonna goof for a few minutes, then go to bed.
Later days.

Have you ever just had a day when...

You are completely let down by people?
I had one of those days today.
See, it's bullshit to tell people one thing, then turn around and do something completely different.
Two instances of this today!
I was completely let down by GMA.
Totally.
They only used the sound bites of us talking about the threats, to make us appear scared. They used nothing of any part of the 2.5 hour long interview I did, except the threat parts.
They wanted the scared angle shown.
Sorry to disappoint ya, but I ain't skeered people.
If I learned anything* at all from my hard working parents, it's to be a fighter, and fight for what's right.

The second instance is complete letdown on something I was seriously looking forward to doing.
The sudden change in plans, joke, link bait, or not, is not amusing in the slightest.
See, some of us are working hard, struggling to get by, day in and day out.
We bust our asses to make things work. Save every penny, pick 'em up off sidewalks, cuz they add up, just to make things work.
I'm not amused at all.
If it's a joke or link bait, screw that crap.
Am I supposed to just laugh it off, and go 'oh man, ya got me!, so funny!'
Not.
But it's clearly not.
So will I be attending after working so hard to get this amount of money saved? I have no idea.
I had plans to meet one of my dearest friends, and it kinda ticks me off.

Branson is the new Nashville.

Branson is being called the new Nashville.
When Shell and I went on our trip all over the south, we made a stop in Nashville and had some fun. Saw some sites, drove around and found Elvis' house and the famous Lisa Marie plane.
It was a good time. We were told by the locals, that most of the tourist attractions were now in Branson after Nashville became too over populated.

Washington small business marketing is a blog about getting your small business out there, getting it in SEO and recognized.
It was started in January of 2005 by Toby Barnett and Chris Wille when they were starting their own small business and discovered that getting small business out there, was a challenge.
This is their blog where they share the challenges they faced, the resources and tips they learned, and they want to pass this experience on to others who may be looking for ways to market their own small business.
