6th picture folder meme.
Belle didn't actually tag anyone for this one, she said You, you, and YOU, so I figured she meant me, so here's the rules and my 6th picture folder picture.
1. Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.
2. Go to the 6th Folder and then pick the 6th Picture.
3. Post it on your blog and tell the story that goes with the picture.

Here's mine:
These roses are 7 years old, I know, they look like it too...LoL
They were given to me by an ex-boyfriend, and they were so pretty, that when they started to die, I couldn't stand the thought of losing them forever, so I saved them.
I went out and bought a can of Aquanet, and then hung the roses, the whole bouquet, upside down, and once a day every day for a week, I sprayed them with the Aquanet.
As they died, the hairspray kept them from falling apart, no petals fell, no leaves, the babies breath didn't fall apart either.
They are still in pretty good shape, I dust them off once a month with my blow dryer, and the petals and leaves still don't fall off.
That's probably because I soaked every single part of each flower with the hairspray, they are stiff, so nope, they aren't budging.
I kinda think they are even prettier all dead than when they were fresh.
And like Belle, I'm not specifically tagging anyone, so like she said and I'm quoting, "I'm tagging you, you, you, you, and you. Yeah, YOU! And be sure to let me know if you did it!"

Remember Wednesday June 25th 2008.
It's time for another round of Remember Wednesday, a new-ish weekly music meme that Jade started.
This week I bring you "You Got Lucky", by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, off of their 1982 album "Long After Dark".
This album went gold by the way.
The song "You Got Lucky" was awesome by itself, but made even better by MTV, who actually played music videos back then.
None of this stupid crap they do now, it was music videos 24 hours a day, and bands outdid themselves to try and out do other bands and artists.
It was a fun time, I loved MTV.
I was awake and taping (on the VCR baby!) the day MTV launched on August 1st 1981, at 12:01am.
My parents let me stay up for that, I was only 11, but I think I begged and pleaded for weeks before it actually happened, doing chore after chore, walking the dog, raking leaves, mowing the lawn, whatever it took to be allowed to stay up and record and watch those first awesome music videos.
I still have the tape too.
I've shown it to my boys who were totally mesmerized by actual music videos, rock music, and the coolness that was MTV.
Today, MTV barely shows any videos at all.
It's all pop and youth culture shows now, "reality" shows like The Hills. *gag*
MTV used to be really great, I wish they would have never left that format, I think bands still strive to make awesome videos, I've seen them on Youtube and other sites like Yahoo video, but MTV was just awesome, ask any kid who grew up in those first 10-15 years.
By the mid 1990's, they had completely changed the format, limiting the airing of actual music videos to just 4 programs.
MTV Live, Total request, Say What? and 12 Angry Viewers.
It officially became the suck after that.
But man, those first years of MTV, wow.
I was introduced to so many bands, so many different styles of music, they played pretty much anything and everything, and in 1982 when I saw "You Got Lucky", I couldn't take my eyes off the screen, and my ears were on fire.
I know the band had been around since 1976, but it was the album Long After Dark, and this video that really got me into the band.
The opening of the video is in a future wasteland where a tent is filled with all the latest technological electronics of the time, so outdated now, tvs, arcade games, jukeboxes and guitars, and the song begins to play, that opening rift, man, it still gets me sometimes.

Remember Wednesday June 11th 2008.
It's time for another round of Remember Wednesday, a new-ish weekly music meme that Jade started.
This week is all about the Journey.
I've always been a big fan of their music, they are a solid rock band.
Each member a master of his instrument, and when combined, they all come together with an amazing sound.
Back in the early 90's, my friend Shell and I would go down town, down to the beach clubs like Mr. Goodbar's, (where they still play) and a few other bars and clubs, and see a local band called Riot Act.
Riot Act was one of those good-time bands, they played some of their music, but they mostly played covers for the tourist crowds who came in to hear rock music they knew and loved.
Guns n' Roses, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, 80's rock songs mostly, but nothing got the crowd going like when they would play covers of Journey.
The lead singer, Johnny, just had the voice that could pull off a damn good interpretation of Steve Perry.
Put his voice with the very talented members of the band, plus a good Journey hit like "Don't Stop Believin', Send her My Love, or Faithfully, and the crowd would eat it up, the place would be filled, over capacity on most nights, and it was guaranteed that you would have a good time.
They did an amazing cover of Separate Ways, one of my personal favorites of Journey, and wow, it was always so awesome to hear it played live, you'd get goosebumps when Johnny hit those high and long notes.
Shell and I would make a point of being there whenever Riot Act played, or as often as we could.
The both of us were young mothers of young toddlers, but we'd get a babysitter and head on down to the beach for our one night of fun and music, after a long week of taking care of kids and working, and Shell going to college.
We could let loose, and hang out with our friends, have a good time and just rock out with Johnny and the guys.
I think at one point, both of us actually worked at one of the clubs they played at.
I was a waitress at the Whitehall, and I believe Shell was a the only female bouncer at Goodbars.
It was a good time, good memories of being with a good friend.

Remember Wednesday.
Jade has started a new weekly music blog participation meme/thing to do, and it involves music, so I'm all over that because I absolutely love music.
It's called Remember Wednesday.
You know those songs that every time you hear, you draw up a particular memory, or thoughts of a specific time in your life? Well I wanna hear about it!
The song I'm choosing for this week is Dead or Alive's You Spin me 'Round.
This song always makes me smile, laugh, and just have a really good time no matter what.
My friends and I used to request this every time we went out to a club, just so we could get on the dance floor and have a blast. We'd make total fools of ourselves, but we were having such a good time that we didn't care what anyone else thought.
I remember on one night we went out and the dj had now gotten used to us requesting this so he just started playing it and gave us the thumbs up, we hit the dance floor and were just having so much fun, when I glanced over and caught the drummer of a popular local band watching us and dancing along too.
We knew each other so it was only natural that if he was going to dance and watch us dance, that he dance with us.
I went over and grabbed him by the hand and dragged him out onto the floor with us.
One of my girlfriends was like head over heels crushing on the guy, and got super self conscious when I did that, and he could see she was a bit embarrassed that he was now with us, so he started grinding up on her and being all goofy which only caused her to be more self conscious.
I just started laughing, that was who he was, a big goof, and to he and I, it was hysterical, but to her, total mortification that the object of her crush was dancing all silly up on her.
She eventually ran from the dance floor to the bathroom where she stayed for about 15 minutes.
Hahah!
He and I just laughed about it, shared a drink while waiting for her to get over herself and come back out.
When she did, she was acting all prissy like, trying to impress him, but he was a goof, he wasn't into prissy, so he basically ignored her.
He whispered in my ear that my friend was cute, but lame, that if she could just relax and have fun, he probably would have asked her out, but she kinda blew it by acting like that.
We spent the rest of the night talking and having fun, and we left and headed for home.
I never told her what he said, it probably would have hurt her feelings or made her even more embarrassed.
But anyway, here's the video, it still makes me laugh and smile, and my my, have you seen Pete Burns in recent years?

Give me five Monday meme.
I almost forgot that I told Becca I would play along, even though she sent me a reminder to do it, so here is my first attempt at her Give Me Five Monday Meme.
Give Me Five things you enjoyed about your mother's day yesterday or from prior years.
1. I got 2 seriously awesome musical cards from the teens.
One says Mom, you rock, and when you open it it plays Tina Turner's Simply the Best.
That was from Mark.
Sebastian's was so totally him.
Outside it had a picture of a chicken, and simply said Happy Mother's day, and inside it said to the woman who rules the roost.
It played the chicken dance song.
As soon as I opened it up, he sprang from the couch and did the dance.
Then every chance he got after that, he would open the card and do the dance, laughing hysterically each time.
2. It's those kinds of things that made me smile all day long.
3. My sister and my nieces came down yesterday, and she and all the kids went out for a few hours leaving me to just rest and relax, have some me time.
What did I do? I cleaned of course!
4. I ordered out for dinner.
After all that cleaning, I wasn't about to dirty any more dishes.
The Chinese was super tasty!
5. The teens later on surprised me by going for a walk, and came back with a hot fudge sunday for me from Dairy Queen, that they bought with their own money.

Joana tagged me for this meme, and I usually don't do these, but my brain is like duh-ur, so I figured why not?

1. Not really a weirdo fact, but I very rarely trust any one. I slowly allow people to enter my life and I watch them, listen to them, pay close attention to facts and details they let out. If anything seems amiss, I drop them like a bad habit. I have issues.
2. I despise social networking "games". You know, like pirates, werewolf, love, hug or kiss? Don't write on my fun wall. I'm not reading it.
3. I'm like a living breathing musical encyclopedia/lyric freak. I can pretty much name that tune in 5 notes or less on just about any song as long as it's not country or rap.
4. I never want to become one of the crazy blue-haired snow birds that visit here. I'll end myself first.
5. I absolutely despise people who start a religious discussion with me, then proceed to get overly emotional when they can't back up anything they believe in other than to throw the word "faith", make personal attacks, and tell me that I'm dammed and dooming my children.
Shut the fuck up.

1. I do not like large groups of people unless music is involved. (ie, concerts, nightclubs etc)
2. I do not like being outdoors. At all. The sun bothers me, the heat, the wind, rain, bugs, lots of stuff. Give me a nice quiet, dark room, and I'm in pure bliss.
3. I am anally OCD about almost everything. Chairs, silverware, pens, lots of stuff.
4. I get bored very easily. I have to have constant mental stimulation. I have to be reading, or listening, or doing something at all times. I will get bored and irritated if nothing is going on.
5. I prefer to watch people do things rather than take part in them.
6. I cannot stand karaoke because most people who do it, cannot sing to save their lives. Even when just having fun, I hear every single wrong note, key, beat and tempo. It makes me angry.
7. I am honest to a fault. Being honest has made me more enemies than friends. People cannot stand that about me.
8. I prefer to be absolutely alone. I do not like going places and doing things, unless it is going to be a ton of fun. I'd rather stay home all the time than go somewhere and be bored.
So there ya go, 8 things.

1. I hate bugs. Flying, crawling, web spinning, stinging, itch inducing, all kinds of bugs. I don't care what good they may do for the environment, I hate them all and kill them on sight.
2. My teenagers make me want to commit homicide.
3. I think summer vacation should be outlawed so parents won't get homicidal on their teenagers who are home.
4. I am horrible about answering emails and even worse with snail mail.
5. I am even worse about the phone. I don't like talking on the phone for more than 10 minutes. It annoys me.
6. I have serious OCD and people look at me like I'm crazy when I do some of my things like using paper towels to touch every thing in public restrooms. I flush the toilet using my foot rather than my hand.

1. Oriental Buffet on Bee Ridge and Cattleman. Best oriental food for good prices. They have won an award for this title, Best Chinese restaurant, 7 years in a row now. It is totally awesome!
2. China One on Bee Ridge. We get take out from here several times a month. (Oriental Buffet does not deliver)
The prices are great, the food is awesome, and they are super speedy on delivery.
3. Mattisons Grill on First and Lemon. Amazing food! It's an outdoor place open year round, fair prices. They have a live band every weekend, food and drink specials, and the service is outstanding.
4. Flemmings Steak house and wine bar on Siesta Drive.
Incredible steaks, good wine. Fair prices.
5. We get pizza a lot, either Pizza Hut or Dominos depending on their specials.

1. What are your top three things that annoy you and why?
Things out of place. I have OCD pretty bad sometimes, so if my things have been moved, I get extremely annoyed.
Liars. I hate liars.

Cuz I am! *laugh* I have tats and piercings, some in places we can't talk about. I love heavy metal and horror movies, the bloodier the more I like it. I let my kids cuss at home, I have not worn a color other than black in years. I love to play horror video games and do stupid stuff in them. I find joy in watching my Sims die. I even torture them until they do. heh.

Desert Island meme.
I was tagged by weirdgrrl for this, and as promised, a little funny.
Most of the people participating in this have made some reference to Gilligan's Island.
Even weirdgrrl did.
As most of you know, I was adopted. My adoptive families proper name is Gilligan.
I was born in 1970, grew up in the 70's and 80's.
I've heard enough Gilligan's Island jokes to last me an eternity.
When applying for my first bank account around age 13 so I could deposit all my paper route earnings, I filled out the form and the bank clerk took it and walked off to enter it all in and give me my passbook.
As she walked away, she was humming the theme song.
I've heard it hummed, sung, giggled at, most of my life.
When I got married, I was thrilled to lose the last name.
When I got divorced, the ex wanted me to change it back.
No freaking way in hell buddy!
I survived the most brutal teenage high school years of my life with that last name, no way was I going to use it for the rest of my life.

It appears as though I'm going to be stranded on a desert island and I get to choose my companions.

Being stuck with people who annoy me would result in my change of heart on the idea of cannibalism.
So here's my list of 5 people I wouldn't kill and eat.
Belle- she's crafty, we get along, like the same music, and could talk for hours about everything.
Latte girl- cuz she's well read, funny, snarky, and already lives in isolation so she'd be able to cope and keep the rest of us sane.
Shell- cuz if I'm gonna be stuck somewhere, I wanna be stuck with my best friend.
Plus, she's a champion bow hunter. She could make a bow out of palm leaves and sticks. We'd be eating good stuff...LOL
Mr. Fab- cuz he's witty, funny, serious, raunchy, and just plain fun.
And lastly, Christine.
She's good at making stuff, she's a chef. She'd be able to cook up incredible stuff for us every day using whatever she could find or make us hunt for. Islands are surrounded by water, so we'd have fish. There's always birds, I'm sure they taste like chicken. Maybe wild boar, and who knows, maybe monkey tastes good too.

Being Grateful
My friend Marisa tagged me for this one.
Three things I'm grateful for.
1. My family. My sons may have their off days where raging, changing teenage hormones come blaring through, but they are 97% of the time, the most awesome kids on the planet.
My sister who loves me and thinks of me and the boys with sweet little gestures like today, often.
My parents for all the things the taught me like love and compassion, caring, kindness and generosity.
2. My good friends who are always there for me to cheer me up when I'm down, make me laugh, or just lend an ear.
3. My health. While I've had some very bad times with it, it's starting to look up.

1. Do you like the looks and content of your blog?
I do. I think my content is a complete representation of me at all times. Even the sponsored posts are completely me. I don't do any that would compromise myself, or my integrity.
2. Does your family know about your blog?
Yup. Mom and dad read me a few times a day.
3. Can you tell your friends about your blog?
Yes. Of course some of them have no idea what a blog is until they get here.
4. Do you just read the blogs of those who comment on your blog?
I really do try to read the blogs of everyone who stops by here. I always reply to comments and emails. It just takes me a bit sometimes to get back to everyone. I also read a lot of blogs of people who don't.
5. Did your blog positively affect your mind?
Yes. Sometimes there are negative things written on it, but negative things sometimes happen.
6. What does the number of visitors to your blog mean?
I'm far more interested in where they come from. The numbers don't really mean much, but I do enjoy seeing all the countries people are from.
7. Do you imagine what other bloggers look like?
Of course, curiosity is natural, but a lot of people post pics of themselves.
8. Do you think blogging has any real benefit?
Absolutely. There's such a variety of blogs out there and I'm sure they benefit the readers in some way. For me, it's my outlet, my place to communicate with others.
9. Do you think that the blogosphere is a stand alone community separated from the real world?
No. Blogs are so mainstream now. They are on every news website, reporters blog now! They are in newspaper columns, magazines, everywhere. We are everywhere.
10. Do some political blogs scare you? Do you avoid them?
Scare me? No. The extreme ones upset me but not scare me. I don't avoid them, but I certainly don't go seeking them out.
11. Do you think criticizing your blog is useful?
Constructive criticism is always welcomed, and I try to be constructive back with other bloggers.
But I think it's a complete waste of my time and theirs, for the negative nellies who are not trashing your blog, but you. Go get a hobby loser.
12. Have you ever thought what would happen to your blog in case you died?
Yes! I have in place an emergency blogging system (EBS). I have several friends with all the log in information, and my sister has it as well. If I die, it will get blogged...LOL
13. Which blogger has had the greatest impression on you?
I think every blogger I stay in constant contact with, has made an impression on me. I appreciate all of them.

Yes, my parents do know what happened and yes, they forgave me but still, it was shitty that I got left to do like 120 cookies by myself.

I don't remember when I learned the truth but my kids have known since about 7-8 years old and only because other people wouldn't let me tell them the truth. I hate lying to my kids about even simple things like this. There's no easter bunny or tooth fairy either folks. Quit lying to your kids.

We open one Christmas eve and teh rest Christmas morning.
