I have decided to stop the game for awhile.
There simply wasn't enough interest which is kind of odd to me, because the prize at the end of the month was cash or the equivalent in a gift certificate.
At the best, I had 3 people taking guesses, at the lowest, 1, and a one man game isn't a game, it's a giveaway.
I tried to make them hard but not too hard, first clue was hard, second clue was the dead giveaway.
i wanted people to have fun, movie buffs to show their stuff, and get rewarded for it, but really, there simply was not enough interest at all.
I was posting at the wrong times too apparently.
Too early in the day, people couldn't play because they were at work, too late and they were busy with family and home, and the middle of the day, who knows why.
So for now, it's done.
I may bring it back again later on because I enjoyed doing it, but probably not with a prize, just for fun.

I will post 10 images per month, and the person who guesses the most correct movies out of the 10 per month, will win a $25 gift certificate to Amazon.com, or $25 by Paypal, winners choice.
Each correct guess is worth 1 point, first person to guess correctly, will get the point.
The contest will run from the 26th of the month, to the 26th of the following month, points will be tallied, and the winner will receive their $25 gift certificate or $25 through Paypal, on the 30th of the month.
Can you guess this movie?

Name the movie, 1 point
Name the year, 1 point
Name the 2 lead actors, 2 points.
Annnd go!
October 26, 2007
Due to being gone the majority of today and the subsequent blood loss, there was no guess the movie today.
There will be one tomorrow, so be watching for that.
I really hope that more people come and play.
I would like to see a bunch of people competing for the prize, and taking guesses at it.
I work hard to find a movie, get the perfect screen shots, and ask for things which will make you think and allow you to earn more points.
And because this contest is only on my blog, you are not asked to post anything about it on your blogs, you will not be accused of having a sponsored post for any companies a little too over board in their post rejections. *wink wink*
It would be cool if you wanted to promote the contest on your blogs, it would drive more people here to play, and I really do want to see more people playing or else Carla will always be the winner...LOL
She's really good at this, (check the sidebar for point tally) but I know there are other people out there who watch a lot of movies and can tell what a movie is from a screen shot.
There has to be! hahahah
Anyway, it will be back tomorrow, and I'd really love to see more people playing.
If I can't drum up enough interest, I won't continue it.
It's not worth it to me to run a contest with only one person playing.
I know you understand what I mean.
Thanks!

The Reaping is described as follows;
The death of a child in mysterious circumstances; sparks of a series of events that seem to represent biblical plagues, start occurring in of all places a town called *Haven* located deep in the bowels of bible belt country in the bayous of Louisiana. A former Christian missionary turned religious phenomena debunker and her top open minded student turned personnel assistant is sent to investigate.I really had high hopes for this movie. I thought Katherine (Hillary Swank) would stick to her guns and debunk this too, but as soon as the satanic cult was mentioned, in the last 40 minutes of the movie, I knew all hope was lost for being able to stick to science to explain what was happening in the town.
Katherine is a former missionary and ordained minister, whose husband and daughter were sacrificed by the native people they had been preaching to, because as soon as the missionaries arrived, it didn't rain again. For a whole year.
The native people killed her family and had tried to kill her, in order to please the gods.
Since then, Katherine has lost her faith and now goes around debunking "miracles".
She gets a request to come to the small town of Haven because the river has turned to blood, the fish and frogs are dying, and while she's there, there's a plague of boils and locusts, cattle die and become crazy rabid attack cows.
The townspeople have Katherine believe it's the work of a little 12 year old girl just entering puberty, who is the cause of all the bad happenings, that she's in league with satan.
Katherine tries to explain things through science, runs tests, does everything she can until she sees a symbol for a cult.
She then calls a former priest friend, who just so happens to get burned to death while telling Katherine of the prophecies while speaking to her by phone, and she starts to believe the girl is indeed in league with the devil.
But it was the townspeople who had lied, they were the satanic cult who wanted to kill the girl but couldn't, because the girl was actually an angel sent by god to destroy the cult members.
The last plague is the death of the first borns, and most of the towns people end up dead, and Katherine helps save the girls life because she figures out that the girl is sent from God.
This whole experience changes her, restores her faith.
As she and the girl drive away from town, the girl places her hand on Katherine's belly and tell her she's pregnant with a boy.
Katherine had only thought she dreamed of having sex with the satanic cult leader, he needed to create another child apparently, and chose Katherine as the host mother for the devils new spawn.
This movie is bad. Just bad.
It was a terrible disappointment to see Katherine lose science so quickly in the face of things she normally would have proven false with science.
The dream of having sex, the pregnancy, bah, stupid.
I will say the movie had excellent special affects.
The plague of locusts was visually stunning, but this movie sucked ass.
If I had those little stars to do a scale of 1-5, this movie would get a 1 for special effects, and that's it.
It sucked.

October 12, 2007

Women's Murder Club is based on James Patterson's best selling novels, and is a new one-hour drama series about four successful working women in San Francisco: Homicide Inspector Lindsay Boxer (Angie Harmon), Medical Examiner Claire Washburn (Paula Newsome), Assistant D.A. Jill Bernhardt (Laura Harris) and crime reporter Cindy Thomas (Aubrey Dollar), who use their expertise, their close friendship and their instincts to solve murder cases. Each a success in her own field, they work together to uncover clues to the city's most grisly homicides.
I've read the books and found them really fast paced and interesting, and the new series on ABC is no different.
I thoroughly enjoyed the season premier, the interactions between the characters, and the story lines, and a terrific cast.
I'll definitely be tuning in again every Friday night at 9pm eastern.
October 12, 2007

Update, Mindy wins! It was indeed the Man in the Iron Mask.

Accused file sharer must pay $220,000.
A Minnesota woman must pay $220,000 to six of the top music labels after a federal jury found on Thursday that she violated their copyright.Accused of encouraging the illegal sharing of more than 1,700 songs, Jammie Thomas, 30, elected to fight it out with the recording industry instead of settling out of court for far less money. The ensuing legal battle marked the first time the recording industry has argued a file-sharing case before a jury.
Since 2003, many of the 26,000 persons sued by the Recording Industry Assoc. of America (RIAA) have avoided litigation by agreeing to pay a few thousand dollars. Thomas, who could not be reached for comment, has always maintained her innocence. Accused of sharing music through the use of peer-to-peer service, Kazaa, she told the jury that she didn't even own a Kazaa account.
The jury didn't buy her argument. Thomas was ordered to pay $9,250 for each of the 24 songs that the RIAA concentrated on. She was initially accused of sharing 1,702 songs. The decision is important in that it sends a message to file sharers that Internet anonymity won't protect them from lawsuits, said Chris Castle, a copyright attorney and longtime music industry executive.
Castle said the Web makes it simple to hide. Proving who was sitting at a computer at any given time is very difficult for copyright owners. What is precedent-setting about this case is that the jury decided it doesn't matter who was sharing music on Thomas' computer."The answer that the court gave was 'It's your account, you're responsible,'" Castle said. "'It's your screen name. You pay the bills. It's in your house. You are on the hook for it.'"
"The laws were written for pirates, guys pressing scores of DVDs," Cohn said. "I think this judgment is a clear indication that damages for copyright laws need to be adjusted to reflect today's reality. A mom in her home isn't the same as a pirate, but the copyright law doesn't see any difference."

He introduces himself as Paul, a friend of their son and daughter in Harvard and son of Sidney Poitier, and the couple invites him to stay with them. During they night, they find that Paul is not who he claims to be. When they investigate the life of Paul, they find the hidden truth."
