Piece of me.

Brittney's new video is out, here it is below.
The song is catchy, but man did they synthesize her voice on it.
She sounds so digital.
She looks good though, better than all the paparazzi photos that are out there currently.
It's amazing what hair and makeup, and the right clothes will do for someone.
It's so weird though. In this song she's telling off the photogs, but on any given night, Brittney's out there talking to them, making jokes, posing for them.
It's a love hate relationship with her, she uses them when she needs to, and disses them when it suits her.

Fall Out Boy covers Pantera. I mean butchers it.

On November 19 in Buffalo, New York, it has been reported that they covered Pantera's Walk during a secret Fall Out Boy show at the Mohawk Place where they performed under the name Schrute Farms.
A fan filmed the sacrilegious butchering of the song.
You can see it below.
Nothing is sacred anymore, Dime is spinning in his grave.

Freddie Mercury 5 September 1946 – 24 November 1991

16 years ago today, music and the world, lost one of it's brightest and most talented musicians.
He was born under the name Farrokh Bulsara, and was the lead singer of the rock band Queen, who were inducted in to the Rock N' Roll hall of fame in 2001.

Statue of Mercury in Montreaux.

He was a singer, songwriter, and loved by millions of fans around the world.
His sexual orientation was always under question, they couldn't ever leave him alone, always wanting to know if he was gay.
A question he didn't answer with the truth, but never lied either, he just didn't answer.
On November 23, 1991, Freddie Mercury told the world in a press conference he had AIDS.
24 hours later, he passed away.
It was a sad day for fans of Freddie and the band Queen, and I don't think any fan will ever forget hearing the news.

His death and the announcement, made news around the world.
The remaining members of Queen held a tribute concert on April 20th 1992 at Wembley Stadium to a sold out crowd of 72,000, and more than 1 billion viewers watched it live.
I was one of those people glued to my tv that day to watch the tribute to one of the worlds finest musicians.

Queen had an astounding 29 records, which still sell today.
New fans find their music and are amazed at the voice and talent of the bands brilliant front man, thanks to movies and video games like Guitar Hero.
He will never be forgotten by long time fans, and the music will live on as new generations discover the wonder of Queen.
If asked to pick a favorite song, I couldn't do it, so I'll just post one of the ones I really like a lot, or two.

You are missed Freddie.

RIAA wins key victory

Accused file sharer must pay $220,000.

Source link.

A Minnesota woman must pay $220,000 to six of the top music labels after a federal jury found on Thursday that she violated their copyright.

Accused of encouraging the illegal sharing of more than 1,700 songs, Jammie Thomas, 30, elected to fight it out with the recording industry instead of settling out of court for far less money. The ensuing legal battle marked the first time the recording industry has argued a file-sharing case before a jury.

Since 2003, many of the 26,000 persons sued by the Recording Industry Assoc. of America (RIAA) have avoided litigation by agreeing to pay a few thousand dollars. Thomas, who could not be reached for comment, has always maintained her innocence. Accused of sharing music through the use of peer-to-peer service, Kazaa, she told the jury that she didn't even own a Kazaa account.
The jury didn't buy her argument. Thomas was ordered to pay $9,250 for each of the 24 songs that the RIAA concentrated on. She was initially accused of sharing 1,702 songs. The decision is important in that it sends a message to file sharers that Internet anonymity won't protect them from lawsuits, said Chris Castle, a copyright attorney and longtime music industry executive.
Castle said the Web makes it simple to hide. Proving who was sitting at a computer at any given time is very difficult for copyright owners. What is precedent-setting about this case is that the jury decided it doesn't matter who was sharing music on Thomas' computer.

"The answer that the court gave was 'It's your account, you're responsible,'" Castle said. "'It's your screen name. You pay the bills. It's in your house. You are on the hook for it.'"

That is total crap! If a kid shares music from the home computer, it's the parents responsibility because they pay the bills, it's their house.
Fuck that shit!
"The laws were written for pirates, guys pressing scores of DVDs," Cohn said. "I think this judgment is a clear indication that damages for copyright laws need to be adjusted to reflect today's reality. A mom in her home isn't the same as a pirate, but the copyright law doesn't see any difference."

Exactly!

Radiohead new CD available October 10th.

It's called In Rainbows, and they are self releasing it.
You can download it starting October 10th, for get this, as little or as much as you want to pay, no joke!
I took a screen shot of my basket, and here's the proof;

Click for bigger.

When you click on the question mark next to the empty price field, it says "it's up to you"
If you want the CD/vinyl deluxe package, you're gonna have to pay out $81 bucks, but you can seriously pay as little or as much as you think the cd is worth, for the download.

Here's the message from Jonny Greenwood;

Hello everyone.
Well, the new album is finished, and it's coming out in 10 days;
We've called it In Rainbows.
Love from us all.
Jonny

I totally love Radiohead, so of course I'm going to do this.
So I put in $10.00.
My total charges were $21.20, after conversion to UK.
I wanted to pay the band a fair price, after all, it's totally cool of them to do this and I have a feeling lots of people will put in something like a penny, just to see if they really will get the cd for whatever price they offer.

radiohead2.jpg

Just go to Radiohead.com, and pay what ever amount you want, and on October 10th, they'll send you a link to download the new Cd.
How freaking cool is that?!

I confirmed my order details, and on October 10th, I can download the new Cd.
I think I love this idea!

Tenor Luciano Pavarotti dead at 71

CNN

pava.JPG

Famed opera tenor Luciano Pavarotti, who appeared on stage with singers as varied as opera star Dame Joan Sutherland, U2's Bono and Liza Minnelli, died Thursday after suffering from pancreatic cancer, his manager Terri Robson said in a statement. He was 71. "The great tenor, Luciano Pavarotti, died today at 5:00 a.m. at his home in Modena, the city of his birth," according to Robson.

"The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterized his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness."

May he rest in peace.

Philippine prisoners dance while serving time.

I'm sure you've all heard or seen by now, the Phillipine prisoners who are made to dance by their warden while serving time right?

# Story Highlights
# About 1,500 inmates at Philippines prison are forced to dance every day
# One of their stars is a self-described "she-male" awaiting trial on meth charges
# Prison boss says violence has ceased ever since dancing started
# Accused mass-murderer inmate says dancing has taught him "love"

The sea of orange moves with an urgent rhythm as music booms in the early morning light. The dancers twirl in unison, every movement carefully choreographed.

But what's most striking about these dancers are that most are accused murderers, rapists and drug dealers. They dance their jig behind prison walls. They are led by a choreographer who is accused of mass murder. One of their biggest stars is a transsexual, awaiting trial on methamphetamine dealing charges.

Welcome to the Cebu Detention and Rehabilitation Center in the Philippines.

Here they perform Radio Ga-ga by Queen, but they are famous for doing Michael Jackson's Thriller, as well as many other well known and popular songs.

Puscifer, October 2007
puscifer.jpg

Puscifer, Maynard Keenan's (TOOL) other band/project/voices in his head, will be releasing their debut album in October.

The title so far?
"V is for Vagina."
Ha! I love his sense of humor.
I imagine myself walking into Boogie Woogie, and rather than just go find the cd, I would have to ask for it because well, I would just have to. *laughs*

You can get a sample of the music on the myspace page, censorship is cancer, and visit the official site for Puscifer for other goodies like shirts, wallets, beanies hoodies etc.

I am so totally excited about this new cd. I have been listening to the same sample songs for what feels like ages now.
I am dying to hear the whole thing!
If you are a Maynard fan, check out the myspae page and listen to the tracks up, and let me know what you think.

Say it ain't so Dave.
mustaine.jpg

Dave Mustaine of Megadeath, did an interview for a very conservative magazine recently, where he discussed his very conservative views.

Dave Mustaine really hates the United Nations.
He feels the group is "a blot on the face of humanity," part of a "mire of hypocrisy, bribes, kickbacks, and corruption."
He also says, "The U.N. is where our so-called allies undermine us, and we pay 22 percent of the tab to host our enemies here at home."

On the bands new album, Untitled Abominations, the rampant conservatism of Mustaine's lyrics is evident in such songs as Amerikhastan, which is a pro-Israel song.

And now, Dave is a born again Christian, some songs on the album are A Tout Le Monde and Never Walk Alone: A Call To Arms, and they are being called "touching paeans to his faith."

The American Spectator, the very conservative magazine he did this interview for, has latched onto him because he agrees with their view, not because they like him.
They will use him to try and bring the so-called undesirable people (hard rock fans) into the conservative fold.

Gwen Verdon and '60s Bob Fosse choreography, moves to "Walk it Out"
It's an actual clip from the late 1960's of 3 women dancing to a performance choreographed by Bob Fosse.
The music totally matches up with the choreography. This is brilliant.
I don't know who thought to put this together, but it's so freaking cool.

And here's the original;

Pink and Metal Skool do Skid Row

I'm a huge fan of Pink, there, I said it.
I totally dig this chics look, sound, voice, and attitude.
She's hard working and hard rocking.

There's a semi-famous L.A. band called Metal Skool, that covers a bunch of 80's hair metal songs, and always gets celebrities on stage with them (they've sang with the likes of Dennis Rodman and Mr. Belding in the past).

Recently, Pink joined the band for a rendition of Skid Row's "18 and Life."
It's totally awesome!

Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez's final moments caught on tape.

This is the footage taken in the car seconds before Lisa "Left Eye's" car had crashed in Honduras.
How awful it is still to this day.
TLC was one of the groups that brought female rappers to the front, their music was loved, and so were they.

The footage is not graphic, but it is the few moments right before the crash. Lisa looks peaceful and happy.

Reba and Kelly.

I admit I have a love for Reba. I don't actually purchase any of her music, nor Kelly's, but I listen to their music when it comes on, and I love Reba's tv show on the CW network.

On the Academy of Country Music Awards for 2007, Reba and Kelly did a beautiful duet of the song, "Because of You."
Reba has a new cd coming out called Duets, in which she does duets with all kinds of performers, and will be released on September 18th, 2007.

I totally had to edit this entry just minutes after writing it, because it violated copyright.
"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Dick Clark Productions, Inc."

Damn. Don't these people know that the more people who see the videos, hear the music, the more likely they are to purchase the products?
I was actually interested in the cd Duets, and I'm sure you all would have to, once you listened to this beautiful performance.

Gov. of Florida, considers pardoning Jim Morrison of the Doors.
morrison.jpg

The frontman of The Doors allegedly took 'it' out in Miami over 30 years ago and was arrested. However, questions are still being asked about it and Gov. Charlie Crist is not convinced that Morrison really did expose himself.
The AP is reporting; "He was drunk at the concert and police said he exposed himself, which Morrison denied. Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek said Tuesday that he never saw Morrison expose himself and none of the more than 100 photos entered into evidence showed Morrison's genitals."

Gov. Crist says, "Trying to clear his name and then he dies. If you have a heart pounding in your chest, that has to tug at you a little bit. It should. To have that much talent and to have it sucked out, even if there was some self-involvement ... that's very sad and very tragic."
The issue was brought to Crist's attention by Dave Diamond, a Doors fan from Dayton, Ohio.

While I think it would be very cool if Crist did pardon him, there are people on death row here that should probably have their cases looked into a bit further.

What's in a name?
285.metallica.040307.jpg

The BBC is reporting that a Swedish couple cannot legally name their baby girl Metallica, because the name contains 'metal', and is a band's name. The couple had already baptized her with that name, but now cannot go on any vacations out of the country, because tax officials won't grant the baby a passport.

Karolina Tomaro said: "We had to cancels trips and can't get anywhere because we can't get her a passport without an approved name."

The law in Sweden insists that parents must get approval of both first and second names officially in a bid to avoid what they consider offensive or unsuitable choices.
Hey, I love Metallica (pre-black album) too, but are you people serious?!

Details on the bizarre NIN campaign.
nin.jpg

An insider shared with Billboard, some bits of info on the very weird marketing campaign for NIN.
The campaign has included everything from wild Internet sites, to tracks being left on bathroom floors, to mp3's being posted on various sites designed and maintained by Reznor himself, and Interscope Records.

And with the posting of mp3's the RIAA of course, has to step in and demand they be taken down.

Um, hello? Fools at the RIAA, these sites are done with Reznors permission, he put those mp3's there so back off you idiots.

Nirvana interpreted?
nevermind.jpg

A new interpretive dance is being planned for Nirvana's Nevermind cd.

From Drowned in Sound;

The Spectrum Dance Theater - note that American spelling there, typo-freaks - are to premiere their interpretation of Nevermind on March 31, at Seattle's Moore Theatre. Choreographer Donald Byrd - who has previously worked on the Broadway take on The Color Purple (American, again) - commented:

"The tragedy of his drug addiction that didn't allow [Kurt Cobain] to see with the kind of clarity that would have made for different choices, I was just kind of drawn to that."

Well this should be interesting.
In a way I hope it does well so that other dance troupes across the country pick it up and I can see it.
Or maybe I'll just wait for the reviews.
Either way, if there is an afterlife and dead people can see all, Kurt is hating this.

But more than 65,000 fans have already bought tickets for next week's Heavyweights Of Hip-Hop dates featuring Snoop and P Diddy."

Wow. Y'all know he's gonna show up, he has concert dates there, and he's all serious gangstah.
Wonder what's really going to happen when and if he shows up.
Will they simply turn him away, or if he pushes the issue, will he be arrested?

Puscifer

A side project for Maynard Keenan of TOOL, is called Puscifer.
In Maynard's own words;

My name is Maynard James Keenan. Welcome to Puscifer, my creative subconscious. Welcome to the party that goes on in my head 24 hours a day. Welcome to my island of misfit ideas who've found no home with TOOL, A PERFECT CIRCLE, or CADUCEUS. Here's the skinny... I'm a Workaholic with a Napoleon Complex, a Wine Lover, a Musician, and all around Paranoid Conspiracy Theorist. So it should come as no surprise that all of these elements would continually try to seep out into some form of catch all "inside" project. And Puscifer is that project. The space where my Id, Ego, and Anima all come together to exchange cookie recipes. This is a space without any hard edges. It's a space with no clear or discernable goals. Check your over inflated expectations at the door. Cuz this is simply a playground for the various voices in my head. Come play with us...

The music is different than what he's done before, but it's still totally Maynard. There's no mistaking when you hear it, if you're a fan of his, that this is his music.
He has all kinds of special guests lined up to do Puscifer projects with, Renholder, Milla Jovovich, Lisa Germano, Josh Eustis, Satan, and more.
Makes y'all tingly huh?
Ok, maybe just I get tingly.

Puscifer.com, is where you can get your hands all the goodies. Shirts, hoodies, pens, stuff.

caduceus.jpg

CADUCEUS, is his winery.
Did many of you know that he makes wine?
It's apparently really good too. I wouldn't know yet, I still can't get my hands on a bottle to try.
I keep checking the site, am on the news mailing list, and still no wine for me after about 6 months of trying.
I'll keep trying too. I just have to try it. Friends of mine tell me it's fabulous.

So go check out all of Maynard's bands and projects if you're fan.
If you happen to catch a bottle of his wine, stop by and share a glass with me.

I can die a happy woman after May 29th.

I got our tix for TOOL at the USF Sundome on May 29th!
I'm so stoked!
Last night, Sebastian changed his mind and bowed out. Fine by me, saved me $62.20. ($50.50 + fees)
I cannot freaking wait!!

Without the skin, Beneath the storm, Under these tears The walls came down.

And the snake is drowned and
As I look in his eyes,
My fear begins to fade
Recalling all of those times.

I could have cried then.
I should have cried then.

And as the walls come down and
As I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade
Recalling all of the times
I have died
and will die.
It's all right.
I don't mind.

I am too connected to you to
Slip away, to fade away.
Days away I still feel you
Touching me, changing me,

And considerately killing me.
